Chapter 17: Transformation

Crunch...

As I bit into the Wendigo meat, a wave of flavors assaulted my taste buds. The taste was unlike anything I had ever experienced before. It was gamey and disgusting, with a hint of bitterness. The texture was tough, almost sinewy, making each chew a challenge.

"Damn..."

I forced myself to keep eating, reminding myself of the potential benefits this gruesome meal could bring. With each bite, a surge of energy coursed through my body. It was as if the essence of the Wendigo was seeping into my very being.

As I consumed more of the meat, I noticed subtle changes taking place within me. My muscles felt stronger, my senses sharper. It was as if the Wendigo's primal power was merging with my own, amplifying my physical abilities.

The process was not without its consequences, though. The taste of the Wendigo meat grew more repulsive with each bite, and a deep unease settled in the pit of my stomach. I was on the verge of throwing up.

After finishing the last morsel of meat, I wiped my mouth, a mix of relief and uncertainty washing over me. The act was done, and there was no turning back. The Wendigo's essence now coursed through my veins.

As I stood there, surrounded by the eerie silence of the forest, I couldn't help but feel a strange connection to the fallen creature. It was like I had become a part of it, and it was a part of me.

"..."

Clenching my fists, I took a deep breath and willed the strange energy to gather near my solar plexus.

I don't know why, but I felt like it was what I needed to do to transform.

Crack...

Suddenly, my body convulsed in a violent burst of energy, the essence surging through me like a raging river.

My body contorted and twisted in an otherworldly transformation. Bones cracked and muscles bulged as my form underwent a profound metamorphosis.

Whoosh...

A surge of power coursed through every fiber of my being as if the spirit of the Wendigo itself had possessed me. I could feel my skin stretching, becoming rough and hardened, covered in a coat of matted fur. My limbs elongated, granting me an uncanny agility and strength.

Grrr...

A quiet guttural roar escaped through my slightly parted lips, a primal sound that echoed through the area, merging with the haunting whispers of the wind. The moonlight reflected off my eyes, now glinting with an otherworldly luminescence. I had become something more than a demon, a hybrid of man and beast.

With this newfound form, I felt a surge of confidence and power coursing through me. I knew that I could now face the perils of this world with a ferocity and resilience unmatched by any ordinary being.

As I stood there, a towering figure in the moonlight, I surveyed my surroundings with sharpened senses. Every rustle of leaves and every distant hoot of an owl reached my ears with pristine clarity. The forest had become my domain, and I was the apex predator.

"This is cool..."

I looked at my hands which were armed with deadly claws and fur. A grin spread across my face as I felt the exhilarating rush of power and freedom that came with my new form.

Although this was one of the weakest monsters in the novel, it was still a force to be reckoned with for me who had only reincarnated into this world a day ago.

It was a transformation that I would surely use, at least until I leave this forest.

"I need to see how I look..."

With my heightened senses, I picked up the faint sound of streaming water in the distance. The rush and gurgle of the river called to me, drawing me toward its source. Intrigued, I followed the melodic melody, each step guided by my sharpened instincts.

Tap... Tap...

As I approached the riverbank, the scent of damp earth and fresh water enveloped me, filling my nostrils with an invigorating fragrance. Moonlight danced upon the ripples of the running water, casting a shimmering glow that illuminated my surroundings.

Kneeling down by the river's edge, I peered into the crystal-clear current, the image of my transformed self staring back at me in distorted ripples. My reflection was a blur of fur, sharp angles, and primal intensity. It was a visage that both thrilled and unsettled me.

.

I studied the details of my altered form, the fierce glint in my eyes, and the ferocious set of my jaw. The fur that now covered my body was a wild, untamed testament to the merging of two worlds. It bristled and swayed with each gust of wind, adding to the air of untamed power that surrounded me.

Reaching out with a clawed hand, I gently touched the water's surface, causing tiny ripples to cascade outward. The sensation was both foreign and familiar, the coolness of the water contrasting against the heat that pulsed within me.

Splash...

As I withdrew my hand, droplets of water clung to my fur, shimmering like diamonds in the moonlight.

"..."

Suddenly, I felt my instincts shift as my heightened senses detected something moving in the distance.

For some reason, I could vaguely tell what it was, despite being in this new body for only a short time.

"Deers..."

I could feel my stomach growl in hunger and my teeth sharpen in anticipation. It was a primal urge that I knew came from the Wendigo.

The insatiable hunger...

Crack...

However, I managed to keep calm, quickly reverting my transformation and becoming normal again.

I couldn't yet control my Wendigo form, and I'd rather not massacre an entire herd of deer.

I still possess some semblance of humanity!
