Chapter 72: chapter seventy two

Marcus and Dana enter the living room, their faces tense and worried. The room's ambiance is thick with unease, and they sit down on the plush, oversized sofa. As they settle, Hector strides in, his face etched with concern and curiosity.

"Good that you're both here. I heard you've seen the girl," Hector says, his voice low and urgent.

Dana's eyes narrow slightly. "Who told you?"

Hector waves off her question. "Never mind that now. The elders have called for a meeting concerning her case."

Dana's eyebrows shoot up in surprise. "Really? They did?"

"At least for once, those old hags are doing something right. And this time, I'll make them understand that Evan didn't act alone. He had help," Marcus interjects, his tone sharp.

Hector's gaze sharpens, suspicion in his eyes. "And who are you referring to now?"

Marcus meets his father's gaze with steely determination. "Well, no other than your wannabe daughter-in-law, Kendra."
