Chapter 9: Council Of Gods

3rd Person P.O.V

Noah went ahead and laid down on the altar. Just like before, the priests surrounded the altar and started chanting. The atmosphere was solemn.

Even though Lucius said that he didn't care if his children awakened low-grade talents, he still wished that one of his children would awaken at least an S-class talent. As the heir of a dukedom, Noah needed to be strong. Lilith and Lucy were also looking at Noah in anticipation.

Noah's P.O.V

I laid down on the altar and closed my eyes as instructed. Soon, I heard the murmuring of the priests. Slowly, I lost my consciousness.

When I regained my consciousness, I found myself in a completely new place. I was stunned by the grandness of this place. It was a structure like no other, adorned with intricate patterns that pulsed with otherworldly energy. As I stood there mesmerized by the beauty of this place, contemplating where it could be, I heard a soothing voice.

"You finally came, o' fated one…."

I turned my gaze towards the source of the voice, and my body went stiff. It was not because I saw a terrifying demon or something, but quite the opposite. Eight imposing thrones materialized in the centre of the hall, forming a semi-circle. The seats, carved from strange stone, seemed to radiate an aura of authority and power.

On those seats sat not kings or queens, but gods. I could recognize every one of them. In the centre was Thea, the Greek goddess of light. On her right was her sister Nyx, the Greek goddess of night. Beside her was Persephone, the goddess of the dead, the underworld, grain, and nature, also known as the Queen of the Underworld. Next to Persephone was Eris, the goddess of the fairies. To the left of Thea was Selene, the goddess of the moon. Beside her was Vayu, the Hindu god of wind. Next to him was Neptune, the lord of the seas, and at the end was Hephaestus, the Greek god of artisans, blacksmiths, carpenters, craftsmen, fire, metallurgy, metalworking, sculpture, and volcanoes.

I remembered this place from the game. This is the council of gods.

'How the heck am I here? According to the game, the council of gods gathers in the second half of the game. But now the storyline has not even started yet. What are they doing here altogether?'

As the whirlwind of thoughts was going through my mind, I heard the same voice again.

"Calm down, Noah. I know there must be a lot of things going through your mind."

Hearing the voice, I came out of my thoughts and looked at the source of the voice. It was Thea, the goddess of light. She was looking at me with a gentle gaze, like a mother would give her child. My mind calmed down, but I still couldn't utter a word. Their divine presence was weighing on me.

"You don't have to be concerned about our status. Just relax and ask if you have anything on your mind," Nyx said.

Exhaling, I finally spoke. "I have only one question: why am I here?"

At those words, all the gods looked at each other, then stood up and bowed towards me, saying in unison, "THANK YOU."

Flustered, I fell down "Wha...what are you doing?" I stuttered.

Seeing my flustered appearance, the gods just smiled. Thea waved her hand, and a chair materialized beneath me.

"Sit down first and calm down a little, would you?" Selene said.

'How could I be calm when the gods of the world suddenly bow down in front of me?'

"It's nothing to be flustered about. We just wanted to thank you," a rough voice said from the side. It was Hephaestus.

"Thank me?" I asked.

"Yes, you saved a world, Endora, which was doomed to be destroyed in your last life," Vayu said.

"Indeed, you helped us a lot there. We gods exist because of the faith of mortals, and the destruction of a world means the loss of a vast amount of faith for us," Selene said.

"You did us a huge favour there," Thea said.

"If the destruction of the world can affect you so much, then why didn't you do it yourselves instead of placing your hopes on me?" I asked.

"Because we can't interfere in the mortal realm. Every world has its own consciousness, and they reject any being that has the strength to harm the world, irrespective of their intent," Nyx answered.

"That's why I reincarnated you into Endora with all your memories and our blessings instead of reincarnating you back on Earth," the Queen of the Underworld, Persephone, said.

"It was a gamble on our part, and we did not have much hope for winning it. But you did the impossible," Neptune said.

"But why me? Why didn't you bestow your blessings on someone who was an inhabitant of Endora instead of reincarnating someone from another world?" I questioned.

"Well, since Endora was on the brink of destruction, the people of Endora lost faith in us, and our influence on that world decreased significantly. We could not even bestow blessings on the inhabitants. So, we had to bestow blessings on your soul before sending you to Endora," Thea explained.

Hearing all the answers, I leaned back in the chair and exhaled. "Haaah…"
