Chapter 2: WHAT THE HECK?
"Thanks for the save Flash, here have a cuppa on the house."
"Oh think nothing of it ma'am, just doing our duty and Thank you for the cup, just the thing to get a good morning started."
"It's the least I could do for you for saving us from Captain Cold."
"Ple-" Flash was then interrupted by a speeding 5'7 yellow mass standing in between him and the broad "Hey I helped too! Where's my cup of coffee?"
The girl giggled and said "I didn't forget about you. Here's yours."
"No, Thank you ma'am " Flash interrupted as he took both the cups away from the girl's hands smirking at the sullen look of Kid Flash " I don't want him bouncing around like a moonball all day."
"Hey! This is not fair"
"Is it a lie tho" Flash countered
"No, but-"
"No buts, No coffee for you and that's Final. Understood."
"Yes Sir" said Kid Flash looking down
"Hey, why the long face?" Flash asked then he chuckled and said " Today's the day remember? Honestly you couldn't shut up about it since the moment you woke up today and now you are upset about some coffee? Make up your mind kid! You don't wanna go?"
"Really!! we're going now?" Kid Flash replied.
"Yes! Now do try to keep up" with that the Flash blurred red.
"YEEeeaaaah!!!!!"

"Huh? What was that?" Kid Flash looked around to see two little kids holding water balloons aiming directly at him " HEY! stop throwing water balloons towards the road an accident might've occurred. Stop throwing or I'll tell your parents."
"Sorry" "Sorry"
With that Kid Flash turned around blurred away. after Kid Flash had gone a masked figure approached the kids and said "Here's Five dollars each go get yourself some candy. Good job."
"Thank you, Mister" "Thank you, Mister" And than they ran away.
"Mis-mister? Hey! I'll have you know I only just turned fifteen" The figure yelled towards the kids, but the kids didn't care with money in their hands and chocolate on their minds. 'Whatever who cares, the mark is placed and I'm HAPPY' He grumbled.
Unbeknownst to Kid Flash a odd black marking slithered under his shoes from his back.

JULY 4, 14:00 EDT
Flash arrived at the meeting point.
"How is it that one with superspeed is always late to arrive every single time?" Green arrow commented " And where's the kid?"
"Sorry sorry, had to finish a drink on the way." Flash replied " He must be on the way, had a head start on him and ran at full speed."
"Flash, We need to talk." Batman interjected grumpily from behind Flash.
"Bats!" Flash squeaked " And what's got you glowering this fine day. Ah! It's the day isn't it? I've been telling you Batman Vitamin D is good for you-"
"It's Urgent" Batman said hoarsely.
Seeing that the matter was going to be about a certain nuisance that has popped up in the last couple of months, they moved ahead of everyone and entered the justice league headquarters.
"What has it done this time?"
"Nothing that we know of, but Deathstroke and Sportsmaster have turned the underbelly of various shady businesses and mercenary camps looking for it."
"Why?" Flash asked a frown marring his face. If Sportsmaster one of the best in the business and Deathstroke after whom the business is named after are searching for it then it must have seriously pissed off someone really high ranking or killed someone of similar stature.
"We don't know, which is why this is concerning, it purposely left a trail indicating that it has taken asylum in Central City again. That is why I ask of you to scour the whole city and talk to your rogue's gallery for what could be it's motive"
"You got it"

After the whole speedy fiasco.....
"Ugh... When we're ready? How are we ever supposed to be ready if they don't start treating us like superheroes instead of jus .... just sidekicks?" Kid Flash bellowed
"My mentor, My king ... I ..... I thought he trusted me?" sourly questioned Kaldur
"Trust? They don't even trust us with the basics like the freaking secret HQ in SPACE!!" yelled Kid Flash
"What else they are not telling us?" asked Kaldur
"I have a better question, why didn't we leave with speedy?" quipped Robin
Both Kid Flash and Kaldur were looking down, then Kaldur looked up and asked "What is Project Cadmus?"
"Don't know" said Robin looking up and smirked "But i can find out"
The three sidekicks went towards the computer and robin started typing shit.
[ACCESS DENIED]
Robin chuckled "Wanna bet?"
"Woah, How are you doing that?" Kid Flash asked
Robin replied " Same system as Batcave."

[ACCESS GRANTED]
"Alright Project Cadmus, a genetics lab here in D.C. nothing special but if Batman's suspicious maybe something's there" said Robin
"Solve their case before they do, It would be poetic justice" said Kaldur
"Hey, they are all about Just-"
"What's that?" interrupted Kid Flash
"Hmmm?"

"Seems like a low priority mission but it's increasing" observed Kaldur
After reading sometime Robin said "Oh I know this one, this is the one that has Batman absolutely whelmed for the past few months."
"What do you mean?"
"A few months ago a new name emerged in the mercenary world completing ungodly amount of missions with full completion rate. Nobody knows a thing about it wherein the lies problem that Batman doesn't know anything about it" replied Robin
"But why does Batman care about some mercenary?" asked Kid Flash
"Well" Robin chuckled " A few weeks back Batman was absolutely raging so I just assumed it was the Joker but according to this report It covered the batsignal with a twenty five centimeter thick layer of jawbreaker, which delayed Batman by about five minutes" but grew solemn as he continued reading "and in those five minutes It stole cash from the Penguin killing his elite protective team and stole all the armoury from Blackmask killing him and all the loyal followers of his"
Kaldur eyes widened and Kid Flash's mouth hung open. Robin narrowed his eyes ' So, that is why all the goons have been hush-hush this past few weeks'
"Damn ..... that ... tha.... I have no words. But why are we calling it it?" commented Kid Flash
"Cause no one knows what it looks like, all we know is it's codename 'ALPHA'. Only two incidents do we know about it publicly except for it's missions, first is that it defeated Deathstroke the terminator in one on one combat leaving Deathstroke bloodied to a pulp" even Robin was surprised by that one" Second one escaping Superman in confrontation on Lex tower presumably stolen something from Lex Luthor."
"There is a lot of speculation of it being a Android, Cyborg, Organic Robot, Alien or a Metahuman."
"Okay that is grim and all but are we going towards the Project Cadmus or not, cause if you are going then I am going " said Kid Flash
Robin smirked and both of them looked towards Kaldur. Kaldur raised an eyebrow " And just like that we're a team on a mission?"
"I didn't come here for no playdates"
"Okay then let's go"
The team of trio marched towards their destination with sunshine, flowers and glory in their minds not knowing a shadowy figure just appeared in the room they just left unattended.
