"Ngh." An unpleasant groaning sound escaped my mouth as I started to feel my mind regaining a semblance of conscience.

My said awakening was met with the sound of a sudden howling wind, which reached my ears with a constant flow. My mind instantly assumed that I might have left a window open before falling asleep last night, which explained the wind that entered and howled through my room.

I then tried to focus my mind throughout the whole of my body, who also felt sore after what seems like to have been an unperturbed and long slumber.

Which was kind of odd if I was in any normal state of thinking, but soon my focus turned into the simple sound of the wind, that paved the way for me to focus on each of my previously numb senses, one by one. Time passed slowly as I did it, regaining my seemingly lost sense of touch, by feeling the soft and cool sensation of the bed that I was lying on.

The other senses then came naturally to me as well, as the next was the smell. Sweet and fruit'ish, certainly pleasant, coming from the room ambience scent. Though the sense of scent soon gave way to the most important of them all.

Sight.

With time passing by as a never-stopping train, I finally found myself able to reign in some modicum of control over my body, opening my eyes in a slow and controlled manner.

What greeted me was the sight of a luxurious stone-looking ceiling, confusing me at the unfamiliarity of the room interior, before I had to shield my eyes from the sudden prying sunlight, that invaded my eyes in an unpleasant and uninvited manner.

"What's... — happening?" My voice came out strangely unfamiliar, and yet with a certain tone that I recognized from somewhere. Though I could put my finger on where, and I didn't even gave it much thought, as the unfamiliar sights before took my focus and mind from any passing thought.

By now, detail after detail was being noticed second after second, and I could not help but feel an impending psychological crisis approaching me.

I quickly took notice that I was not even lying in a room, much less my actual, personal room. No, I was in a living room of sorts.

A high ceiling made of what seemed to be expensive stone, dark-brown leather couches that remained in a square positioning around the room, and a long chandelier that 'fell' from the high ceiling.

All of these details made me conclude that wherever I am right now, it is for certain a luxurious living room. Around me, as I got into a seated position, I noticed grand windows spanning from every every-single side of the spacious apartment I found myself in. But that did not answer my question of "Where am I?"

And certainly, my foggy memories didn't help much either, as I tried to think of an explanation for my current predicament.

Safe to say that I found none, while my head rested on top of both my hands, tightly pinching my nose's bridge in confusion and exasperation.

The last thing I remember was slumping into my bed's white and soft sheets, as I had quickly passed out from drinking with one of my friends. We had both gotten a promotion at work and so we had decided to celebrate harder than ever before, having gone drinking together.

And that's all that I could remember doing for my last available memory.

.

I can certainly say that no matter the confusion and doubts that I am currently holding onto, will be resolved by staying seated on a comfortable and pricy couch I have never seen in my entire life, so I did what every sane person would do in my position.

I laid back down on the couch, with my right arm shielding my vision from being too much affected by the intrusion of what I deduce is the morning sunlight.

My head throbbed in pain, and was barely able to think clearly, as I ratted my brain in search of an answer. Any answer.

I did that for a few minutes, before deciding that enough was enough, gaining a slight peak of energy at that. With now renewed interest and a clearer head, I got up and took a few steps in the direction of one of the many large windows near me.

My eyes opened wide as I took in the scene in front of me, the view of what stood below me, spanning dozens of kilometers forward.

The view before me was nothing short of what someone would call capable of rendering one's breathing capabilities useless. Or how someone normal like me would say, it could take someone's breath away, with all but a single glance forward.

Spanning kilometers of buildings neatly organized, with a large rectangle park that stood in the middle of it all. And I felt the urge to mutter two words that instantly came to mind as I remained motionless near the window. "Central Park?!" Surprised and in awe, I took a hand upwards, placing it on the cold and giantly proportioned, see-through glass.

How in the hell had I accidentally woken up from my sleep... — in New, fucking York of all places?!

My mind worked overtime to try and come up with something that made sense amidst so much nonsense of impossibilities.

And it stretched far into the realms of uncertainty for a brief period. Was I somehow transmigrated into another world? Another life?

If so... — what had happened to the old me?

Had there been a reason for such a course of action? Have I died?

I tried to remember something that could prove and entertain such thoughts, but nothing came to mind. Though that did not matter much to me, the signs were all there.

I am —, had been a writer in my supposedly past life. I had written, and read countless scenes and stories that described exactly what I am going through right now, so it doesn't make me doubt the possibility that I have transmigrated...

As these types of thoughts filled my head briefly, with my eyes scanning Central Park with a childlish-like, awe-stare, I took notice of something I had neglected until now.

In the glass window that stood right in front of me, two distinct colors called for my sudden attention. Golden yellow and ruby-like red.

"There's no way..." I mused out loud, as I ventured deeper into the observations of my appearance. Golden hair that seemed to sway slightly in the corner of the cold wind and the piercing red stare that looked back at me, there's no doubt that I was not in my body anymore.

But the most important thing, above all...

"This..." I muttered in disbelief, my eyes widening even more than before, as my breathing increased in intensity to match the situation. "... — is this my face?" There was no doubt about it in my mind at that very moment though, especially to me, having written something similar to this scene in my past life.

I have transmigrated into the body of a younger Gilgamesh! (A/N: Around 20 years old Gilgamesh's body.)

.

Reminiscing about the first moments of my transmigrated life in this new world brought a small smile onto my expression, my back relaxing into the cold wood of a random bench, in the middle of Central Park.

The sounds of laughter and happy conversations around me reached my ears, filling me with a sense of peace that was difficult to describe on the spot.

I had indeed transmigrated into a new world yesterday, possessing the body of Gilgamesh in the process, and until now I had been trying to assimilate all that meant.

Leaving another life behind would not be easy. All the friendships lost, the family members I would not ever again see or hug, and all that I knew to be my life...

It was all lost behind me, never to be my reality again.

And that's... — quite alright, as life is full of changes, upon changes. Sure, some are easier than others, but change is a part of life, and no one can ever deny that.

Until now I have been doing my best to adapt, in the measly 20 hours that passed since I woke up in this new reality. I didn't do much in all honesty, after discovering that I had transmigrated into a new world, I roamed the house I found myself inside of for a while. A penthouse to be more exact, on one of the highest buildings in New York.

Not bad for starters huh? As it would seem like an impossible thing to attain in my past life. So there's that. I also found some identification for this new body, alongside some essentials to adjust myself to this new life of mine.

And all of that happened yesterday, with now being 11 Am of the day after that. How do I know? I checked the time on a smartphone that I found near the identification cards I mentioned before.

.

Aside from eating something that I found on the fridge, and resting my head for a few more hours, I decided to take a stroll in Central Park afterwards.

A place I had never visited in my past life, but that apparently would be my new home from now on. How interesting that was though!

The turns that life can take, in all but a simple moments notice...

And as I thought about all the things that happened in the last 20 hours, with my head thrown back as I looked at the blue sky above me, I felt my body relax. Allowing myself to support a serene smile on my expression while chuckling loudly, much to the amusement of all the people around me, who looked confused in my direction.

But I payed them no mind, as my thoughts focused on more important things, because:

Did I mention that I had transmigrated into the Marvel universe above anything else?
