Chapter 6: THE NIGHT
It was finally the time, as the daylight faded painting the sky in red and orange hue.
The sky turned dark as night fell, with thick clouds hiding the moon.
Stars were faint and scattered, struggling to shine through the gloom.
An eerie stillness hung in the air, making the sky feel vast and empty.
I checked if the others had left to the royal palace and the maid assigned to me and fell asleep,I also took a sword given to me as a birthday gift by my mother.
Using my skill 'stealth' i quietly crept out of the mansion and headed towards the Dilheva forest,my mind lingered with thoughts and I felt a surge of excitement.
Soon I reached the boundaries of Dilheava forest crossing Nava village that lies before it.
The forest was dark and creepy at night. Tall, twisted trees with tangled branches had blocked out most of the moonlight.
A thick, spooky fog had covered the ground, making it hard to see where i was going.
The air had been cold and had felt heavy, like something had been watching me.
Strange, glowing mushrooms had cast a dim light, showing shadows that had moved and shifted as if they had been alive.
Thorny vines had spidered out across the forest floor, rustling quietly as they had seemed to reach out toward me.
Magical beasts had wandered through the trees.
I caught a glimpse of a wolf-like creature with eyes that had shone in the dark, its body fading in and out of sight.
Above, ghostly birds with glowing feathers made haunting cries, their wings leaving trails of light.
The silence was broken by soft whispers, like voices trying to talk to me from just out of sight.
Little creatures with too many legs and glowing eyes had scurried through the bushes.
The forest felt full of magic and mystery, making my skin crawl.
Every step I took could have led to something amazing or something terrifying.
In that forest, beauty and danger had been closely linked, creating a place that had been both fascinating and frightening.
As I ventured deeper in the forest the sounds of different creatures seemed to increase.
Each step I took was mark of the new beginning.
"System,I think we have come deep enough i don't look right for me to go further"
[AFFIRMATIVE]
"System activate skill 'SIXTH SENSE'"
[SKILL' SIXTH SENSE' ACTIVATED]
Not daring to go deep further i stood there leaning to a tree and activated sixth sense to sense any monster near me.
[ALERT : SIX ENTITIES DETECTED IN 100 METRE RADIUS]
Within a few moments,I found myself surrounded by wolf-like creatures hungry for bloodshed.
"System do you know who are these monsters?"
[DIREWOLF : WILD WOLF THAT HAVE BECOME MORE AGRESSIVE DUE TO HUNGER AND TERRITORIAL DISPUTES.
THEY HUNT IN PACKS USING THEIR SPEED AND MENTALITY TO BRING DOWN THEIR PREY]
I felt a urge to flee way from those blodthirsty monsters But it was today or never.
Adrenaline rushed through my body as I decided to confront the monsters.
Guarrr..
With a thunderous roar ,the dire wolves attacked me witha thunderous roar,the direction wolves attacked me with claws that detached from their body and a hail of claws descended upon me.
Unsheathing my sword and gripping it tightly,I advanced forward,my instincts kicking in as i leaped to the side,evading all the fangs aimed towards me.
With a swift motion,I swung my sword,cleaving through a wolf that dared to lunge towards me.
Its body fell to the ground in two halves.
I was surprised and my confidence level increased by tenfolds.
Aooohhh....
The surrounding wolves erupted in a cacophony of growls,their eyes full with anger and malice as they closed in the distance.
Despite being at disadvantage in numbers,I knew I couldn't back down.
As two wolves charged at me,their jaws coated in deadly poison,I met their head-on with a counterattack of my own.
My sword found its mark as it glowed with a ethereal light,covered in blood,cleaving through the flesh in a swift motion.
In a moment,two wolves body pierced into half an fell on the ground,blood spraying from them as they cried in agony.
As the remaining wolves hesitated is seized the opportunity to my advantage and used skill 'stealth'.
Unable to locate their prey anywherein the battlefield,the remaining wolves erupted in disbelief and confusion.
[CRITICAL HIT ACTIVATED]
I sneaked behind the DIREWOLF standing in the middle,with a precised manner I cut it down before it could even react.
The wolf which stood right beside me,its eyes wide with terror leaped on me.
I parried its attack with my sword but seizing the One-in-hundred times opportunity other wolf lunged on me from behind.
But I was having something else in my mind.
"System open profile"
[OPENING PROFILE]
As the wolf claws were about to hit me,the system screen came in its way.
[HARM TO THE SYSTEM DETECTED]
[ACTIVATED DEFENCE MECHANIZM]
An invisible strike of air pressure aimed towards the wolf,cutted its head down from the body and remaining part got sliced into thousand pieces.
I stared at the remaining wolf,whose eyes were wide with astonishment and fear,witnessing the demise of its own mind.
There was no time to waste,I rushed towards the wolf tightening the grip on my sword.
With a fierce cry i activated my skill'critical strike'
The air crackled with energy as my blade sliced through the air finding its mark.
The wolf screamed in agony as my strike struck true,through its tough skin my sword found its way inside him, piercing through the flesh.
I pressed forward,twisting my sword upwards.
I forced the sword upwards,carving a path through its flesh until it parted into two halves.
As I killed the last wolf and emerged victorious a sense of satisfaction came across me.
