Chapter 11: Maric and Sharron

Exiting the room, I heard a voice calling out to me. It was Kaspar, leaning casually against the wall with a curious glint in his eye. "Did you find what you were looking for?" he asked, his tone casual yet probing.

I shook my head, my mind still swirling with thoughts of the artifact I had just purchased. "Not quite," I replied, my gaze drifting past Kaspar as I continued on my way.

But then, his next words stopped me in my tracks. "Would you like me to introduce you to the most powerful Beyonder here?" he offered, his voice tinged with a hint of mischief.

I hesitated for a moment, weighing the offer in my mind. It was an unexpected opportunity and one I couldn't afford to pass up. With a decisive nod, I signaled my agreement, following Kaspar to a room that seemed to exude an air of mystery and intrigue.

Inside, I found myself face to face with Maric, a figure of considerable power and influence in the Beyonder community. He regarded me with a cool detachment, his attention focused on the cards in his hands.

"What brings you here?" he asked, his tone neutral yet subtly probing.

"I'm here to purchase Sequence 9 potions of the White Tower pathway," I replied, keeping my tone concise and to the point.

Maric's gaze flickered with interest, but before he could respond, another voice chimed in from beside him. It was Sharron, her gothic attire and porcelain doll-like appearance giving her an air of mystery and allure.

"300 pounds," she stated matter-of-factly, her eyes fixed on me with a calculating gaze.

Sharron... Arthur obviously knew this person. There are not many people who look exactly like a doll after all.

"Is it a potion or formula?" Arthur asked back.

"If you want both it will be 500 pounds," Sharron replied.

"Deal," Arthur quickly concluded the transaction.

Sharron just briefly scanned Arthur and said, "Four days later, and I will give it to you. You can pay half first."

Arthur just took out his check and gave Sharron 500 pounds directly.

"If you have more potions in this pathway, please contact me in the future. This is the destination to deliver the potion to me," he added, handing her a slip of paper with his address.

Sharron, seeing this, flickered her eyes slightly but still remained composed. Seeing Arthur didn't even care about 500 pounds, she concluded that Arthur must be wealthy. "I should be able to get the potion of this sequence to Sequence 5 if you have money," Sharron said, already considering Arthur as her walking bank.

After all, Sharron attends Bernadette's secret gathering; the gathering there naturally has more high-level items and she should have no problem acquiring the potion unless it is at the demigod level.

Maric just stared incredulously at Sharron as she just robbed his client.

"Money is naturally not the problem. I will be counting on you then, Miss," Arthur replied.

Hearing this, Sharron felt happy in her heart as she finally could save some money for her demigod preparation. Maric just seemed to blankly stare at the card with an unwilling expression. Although resigned, Maric was still happy for Sharron and he indeed didn't have any source to acquire the potion for Arthur.

"May I ask how to address you, madam?" Arthur asked even though he already knew Sharron's name.

"You can call me Sharron."

"Then I hope we can have a happy cooperation, Ms. Sharron," Arthur said as he extended his hand.

"Likewise," Sharron accepted the handshake.

As I left the bar, a sense of accomplishment washed over me. I had succeeded in acquiring what I needed, thanks to the power of wealth and opportunity. It was a stark reminder of the advantages I enjoyed as a member of a wealthy family and the responsibility that came with it.

Reflecting on the day's events, I realized that money truly did make the world go round.

As the carriage rumbled along the cobblestone streets, I pondered my next move. With the potion safely in my possession, I felt a renewed sense of purpose and determination. The Golden Order awaited its first recruit, and I was eager to choose wisely.

But for now, I decided to return home and rest. With a contented sigh, I leaned back in my seat, the rhythmic motion of the carriage lulling me into a sense of tranquility.

Four days later, I received the potion I had purchased. After confirming its safety with the system, I wasted no time in consuming it. The effects were almost immediate, sharpening my mind and enhancing my cognitive abilities.

With each passing day, I felt myself growing stronger and more capable, inching closer to my goal of reaching Sequence 8 of my original pathway.
