Chapter 2: Rebirth

"Magic can do many things and many things it cannot, undoing death largely being a case" A famous saying from the legendary Archmage Tiodor. However, that has been proven to be obsolete.

There was darkness and then came the light and from the little light came hands, hands that pulled off a child from a woman's birth canal.

The midwife with the help of medical tools disconnected the child from its mother.

"A boy." The old grey-haired midwife announced with a smile.

She took the baby to her flank to observe him further, his hair was brown and sparse and he was nothing short of cute.

The other two midwives in the room attended to the mother while the one with the child continued her inspection.

She turned the little baby to his back checking for anomalies, then she turned the child over and her eyes widened.

"Lord Glint!" The shout came from the birthing room, requiring the presence of the father.

"What is it?" The new mother struggled to ask.

The midwife chose to smile and turned over to the door expecting the arrival of the lord.

Next came the door, opening and from it appeared a man in a brown tunic shirt and grey trousers, he had auburn hair that fell to his shoulders, and brown eyes, he was handsome and of average height and physique.

"What's the problem Maria?"

"He's growing." She whispered.

"What do you mean he's growing?" He blurted out loud, getting the attention of his tired wife.

"Who's growing?"

The midwife moved closer to the Lord and she showed him the child in her arms. The Lord's eyes widened, this was his first child but he had seen many newborns in the town and none were ever this large.

"He doubled in size in the few minutes I held him, he looks to be three months old now. I suspect he's still growing. I have never seen this phenomenon in my many years of delivering children." She said softly and in a low voice.

Lord Glint simply stared at the boy confused, he was confused about his child's sudden growth but what confused him the most was the mana present in his child's body, it was more than that of the average mage initiate.

'His mana is growing, but that should be impossible. It's placing a strain on his body and soul.' Glint observed, he had noticed the sudden appearance of a mana that was alien to him but he didn't think that it was his newborn due to its potency and now, he had been proven wrong.

Glint furrowed his brows, he looked sternly at the midwife.

"Hold on to him. I'll be back with help." He instructed and stormed out taking flight to the east as soon as left his mansion.

"What's wrong with my son?" His mother asked.

The midwife remained silent, unsure of how to tell what had happened.

The new mother lay on the bed weak, she had struggled with his birth for two hours and she wasn't going to settle for being left in the dark.

"Show me my child." She commanded, her voice stronger this time around.

"Lady Faire…"

"Now!"

The midwife gave up and walked to her showing her child who suddenly had aged at five months, now double of his initial size.

She gasped, holding her hand over her mouth.

"He's beautiful." She took him from the midwife and brought him to her chest. She then scooped out her breasts from her little dress and placed one into her son's mouth.

The midwives looked in shock, they had nothing to say but felt that they should.

One finally spoke, "He's large, mistress."

"And so?" The little boy sucked softly on her tits causing her to chuckle over the tingly sensation.

"He's so cute, I think I'm going to name him Aistar. Aistar Elipstone."

"Aistar." She called him with happiness in her eyes, as if she chose to ignore the fact that he had grown to the size of a nine-month-old child in her arms.

This was the most vulnerable position she had ever been in, and the midwives couldn't help but feel happy seeing their tall and powerful red-haired Lady happy with seeing her child. She was beautiful even in the weakened state that she was.

Suddenly, the look in her eyes changed, the midwives noticed and they were visibly worried. However, they couldn't see what she saw.

She held out her child who now looked like a one year old boy and stared at him in surprise. From the center of the boy burned a mana so potent that she was drawn to it. She could see the radiant colors of the mana integrated into his soul, and his mana roots developing at a fast pace, she could see it all.

"This is unprecedented, miraculous!"

The midwives looked at her in shock, to them what was happening to the child was nothing short of a curse or at best an illness, to hear the Lady say that it was miraculous made them wary.

"Why don't you rest a little? I'll take Aistar and put him to sleep."

The oldest midwife brought forward her hands to hold the boy, but he turned and looked at her with his brown eyes, his gaze seeming to pierce into her soul and she was taken aback, refusing to take the child from his mother.

Lady Faire took her son to her chest once more and began to feed him, while the midwives gathered at a corner.

"We mustn't let any that transpired here leave the place. The Lady gave birth to a normal beautiful boy and the town shall celebrate." The oldest told the other two and then there was a noise. The boy had tried uttering words.

The midwives all came around the bed and watched, Aistar's mouth moved like he was trying to say something however nothing but baby sounds escaped his mouth.

'What is this? What is this place?' he thought.
