(ch8) paranoid protagonist and death
A few minutes of silence followed as Rei held Anthony's hand in between her boobs close to her heart. Rei had shining eyes of admiration, Anthony was just amazed to find out what world he was in, Takashi and Hishashi were both staring at Rei with their mouths open in shock as she fawned over Anthony.
Takashi seemed to come back to his senses first as he pulled Rei back. This caused her to let go of Anthony's hand, making her frown from being pulled back and also from the loss of contact with Anthony. "I wouldn't get too close to him Rei." Takashi said.
Rei swatted Takeshi's hand away. "Why? He's obviously better prepared than us. Wouldn't it be smart to stick with him?" She asked with a displeased look on her face.
Takashi then shouted at Rei with his hands in the air in exasperation, making Rei take a step back in fright, "EXACTLY! HE'S TOO PREPARED! WHAT EVEN ARE THOSE METAL GLOVES!? WHAT'S HE DOING HERE!"
Hisashi put a hand on Takashis shoulder trying to calm him down. "Hey man, calm down. Freaking out isn't going to help our situation." Hisashi said then Coughed a little at the end.
Takashi closed his eyes and took deep breaths to calm down. After he seemed to calm himself he opened his eyes, then looked at Anthony and asked. "Where did you get those gloves and why do you seem so prepared?"
Anthony gave an exasperated sigh and shook his head. "Like I said before the answer to that question is complicated and will simply bring up more questions. For now just know my only goal is to survive so I'm not your enemy. I'll explain more when we get somewhere safe and take care of our immediate problems." He looked at both boys, then at Hisashis bite wound on his arm.
At first Takashi got angry at Anthony refusing to answer his questions now, but then saw where Anthony was looking as well as Hisashi. Both Takashi and Hisashi widen their eyes as they both look at his wound both grimacing at its implications. Rei meanwhile was oblivious to all this, simply agreeing at Anthony's words.
Seeing that the two boys were preoccupied with wondering on what to do with the bite mark and Rei was just looking at him with shining eyes, Anthony looked around the roof. Thanks to Anthony shutting the roof door there were no zombies. Anthony saw a staircase behind a fence that led to an upper level. Anthony remembers in the anime that there was a storage closet up there, so he started walking that way to see if there was anything useful.
As he was starting to walk Rei asked. "Where are you going?" This caused the other boys to look at Anthony.
Anthony pointed to the stairs and answered, "I want to see whats up there. Maybe there's something useful."
Rei perked up, "can I come with you? I can help." She asked. Anthony thought it was kinda weird how this girl could be chipper, but he remembers in the anime that she also used her chipper attitude to mask her fear.
Before Anthony could say anything Takashi pipes in saying, "I don't think that's a good idea Rei. We don't…"
Rei then cut him off, "REALLY takashi, its just up those stairs. We're not even going that far. If he wanted to do something to us he would have already. Now we will check the storage closet on the upper level and then be right back." She then started aggressively walking towards the stairs, not before grabbing Anthony's hand with hers and dragging him away. Takashi had a stunned look on his face and Hisashi had a wry smile before getting a look of determination.
Reaching the storage closet on the second floor Rei was calming herself down in front of the door, still holding Anthony's hand. Anthony then said, "not that I'm complaining, but you should probably let go now."
Coming back to her senses, she looked at their clasped hands. She then let go like Anthony's hand was as hot as lava. "I-I'm sorry Luthor-kun. I didn't mean to drag you like that." She said with a slight blush.
Anthony simply waved his hand in dismissal. "It's ok I didn't mind holding the hand of a beautiful girl like you. And just call me Anthony, I don't like going by my last name." He said to her.
Rei got an even deeper blush as she stammered out. "O-o-ok Anthony-kun. Let's quickly check out the storage closet." She then quickly opened the sliding closet door and ran in, followed by Anthony amused by Rei's demeanor.
Going through the storage closet they didn't find much, mostly sports equipment. They did find a couple of med kits and a roll of rope. They also found a small duffel bag that they used to carry the items they found.
As they were putting the last of the stuff into the bag, they hear Hisashi yell, "I DONT WANT TO BE ONE OF THEM!!!" Anthony and Rei both looked at each other, both of their eyes wide in shock. Rei because she had a feeling on what was going on and Anthony because he thought it was happening too fast. After a second he thinks maybe Hisashi wanted to get it over without Rei to witness it.
Rei shoved the last of the items into the bag then picked it up running out the storage closet with Anthony not far behind. When they get to the top of the stairs they see Hisashi just standing there as Takashi is running at him with his bat ready to swing. "NOOOOO!!!!!" Rei yelled but it was too late as Takashi took a mighty swing, right to hisashis head, causing his head to split and brain matter to splatter on the ground. Hisashi then fell to the ground lifeless and blood flowed out his head making a small puddle.
