Danzo takes action
In front of a dilapidated shrine in Minamigawa, Shisui and Danzo agreed to meet here.
On the surface, the two came here to discuss the same thing: the relationship between the Uchiha clan and Konoha. However, in reality, this was just Shisui's wishful thinking. From the beginning, Danzo's true intention was to obtain Shisui's eyes. It was clear that Shisui would not rush to the Uchiha clan meeting and use the illusion of Kotoamatsukami on the important figures of the Elder Council.
"Danzo-sama," Shisui began.
"I heard Sarutobi say that if you can't convince Uchiha Fugaku and others, you will activate the power of Kotoamatsukami and change their will," Danzo interrupted.
"Yes, the conflict between Konoha and the Uchiha clan stems from a lack of trust. If the Uchiha clan is willing to change, I believe we can coexist peacefully," Shisui replied.
Shisui believed that he had thoroughly observed the conflict between the Uchiha clan and Konoha since he was tasked by the Third Hokage to monitor the Uchiha clan. He noticed that during the chaos caused by the Nine-Tailed Fox, the Uchiha clan did not rush to the front lines, even though they possessed powerful ocular abilities that could effectively suppress the threat. Such behavior was despised by the ninjas and civilians of Konoha.
Furthermore, many people at the time had witnessed a masked figure controlling the Nine-Tailed Fox with the Sharingan, leading to the conspiracy theory that the Uchiha clan was involved.
However, the Uchiha clan also felt unjustly accused, as they were following the orders of the top leaders of Konoha. Their hesitation was not due to a lack of willingness or a fear of death. This created a divide between the Uchiha clan and Konoha, leading to mutual mistrust and resentment.
Shisui believed that if one party could initiate change and rebuild trust, all problems could be solved. His idea was beautiful, but somewhat idealistic. Unfortunately, he overlooked one crucial aspect: Danzo's enduring lack of trust in the Uchiha clan.
Danzo stubbornly held onto the belief that his teacher, second-generation Hokage Senju Tobirama, was right and that Konoha's political policies towards the Uchiha clan were not flawed. Even if Shisui's plan successfully resolved the current incident, there was no guarantee that a similar situation would not arise in the future. Thus, for the stability of Konoha, Danzo believed that the Uchiha clan needed to be eliminated.
"If you implant Kotoamatsukami on Fugaku and persuade him, but it doesn't change the relationship between Konoha and the Uchiha clan, what will you do?" Danzo questioned while closing his eyes, concealing his true thoughts, as though he had really come to discuss countermeasures with Shisui.
"Hokage promised that he would advocate for us with the villagers. If we unite and work together, we can bring about change," Shisui said, filled with hope for the future. He had taken on this mission from the Hokage to act as a spy within the Uchiha clan, with the goal of finding a way for the Uchiha and Konoha to coexist, and now he felt he had discovered it.
The open-minded Third Hokage understood the Uchiha clan's actions and was willing to give them a chance. All that remained was for them to handle the Uchiha clan, and everything would be okay.
"The villagers' suspicion and opinions of the Uchiha clan won't simply vanish because of Sarutobi's words," Danzo said.
"I understand that, but I believe that given enough time, we will surely be able to..."
"Don't be so naive, Shisui. A realistic person like me isn't quick to change their mind. What will you do then?"
"Danzo-sama..."
The main reason behind Danzo's action today was his fear of Shisui's ability. He was really afraid that Shisui would use his ability on Konoha's higher-ups, even becoming the Hokage himself.
"Instead of wasting time on a tree that won't bear fruit, you might as well give me the power of Kotoamatsukami. I'll take your Sharingan!"
With a snap, the sound of Danzo's cane hitting the ground reverberated through the forest. His previously closed eyes suddenly snapped open. He extended his left hand with a menacing expression, reaching for Shisui's right eye.
Danzo's intention was to extract Shisui's Mangekyō Sharingan, but Shisui was no ordinary individual. The moment Danzo took action, Shisui activated his Sharingan.
In the blink of an eye, his dark pupils transformed into a scarlet hue, and three comma-shaped magatama appeared in his eyes. With just one look, Danzo, who had plunged his left hand into Shisui's right eye, fell under the illusion, becoming like a puppet, devoid of his consciousness and soul. "This is merely an ordinary illusion; you will recover soon."
Shisui had great confidence in his genjutsu abilities. With the illusion affecting Danzo, he let his guard down and turned to leave.
However, what Shisui did not anticipate was that Danzo, who was supposed to be ensnared by his illusion, suddenly materialized before him.
"How...?"

Before he could react, Danzo had already struck him in a vulnerable spot.
The sudden turn of events caught him off guard. With one punch, he felt his organs shift, multiple bones break, and blood surge up his throat, almost causing him to vomit.
Danzo didn't give him a chance to cough up blood. He simultaneously launched punches toward vital areas, attempting to completely eliminate the person before him!
Shisui resisted with everything he could. He wasn't afraid of death, but he had an important mission to complete. He wanted to collaborate with the Third Hokage to establish a village where the Uchiha clan and Konoha could coexist.
He couldn't die here. He had to return to the Uchiha clan alive.
"I can't die yet. I need to prevent the tragedy from happening..."
"No, you will perish here, and the Uchiha will be erased from the history of the ninja world!"
The gaze of Danzo was ice-cold, as if he wanted to devour the person in front of him. His hostility was fiercer than that of a predator sighting its prey.
At the same time, as he finished speaking, the members of Root emerged from their hidden positions and converged from all directions to end the life of Shisui.
"Don't look into his eyes; aim for his feet!"
They were highly trained and well-prepared. They fully understood the terrifying power of the Sharingan and its ability to incapacitate with just a single glance. They had devised strategies to handle this formidable foe.
Observing the flying shurikens and the advancing Root members, Shisui knew he couldn't get hit. Moreover, he couldn't allow himself to be surrounded.
Without hesitation, he swiftly drew his kunai, his gaze fixed on the shurikens heading towards him.
To others, these shurikens appeared lightning-fast, capable of killing in a mere blink of an eye.
But through the Sharingan, Shisui perceived the trajectory of each shuriken with astonishing clarity. None escaped his sight.
He successfully deflected all the shurikens aimed at him. However, Danzo by his side took action once again, his left hand extending like lightning, aiming directly for Shisui's eyes.
"Give me your Sharingan!"
"It's over..."
From Shisui's perspective, Danzo's movements appeared in slow motion, as if he were watching a movie replay frame by frame.
Yet, it was precisely this slowing of time that filled Shisui with fear and despair. In this moment, he was unable to free himself and defend against the impending attack.
The opponent's hand was like the scythe of the god of death, rendering him helpless and desperate and threatening to take everything away from him.
His eyes were on the verge of bursting, and he roared like a wild beast, "Danzo…"
However, just when everyone thought the dust had settled, a kunai as black as ink shot through the air.
It flew at an incredibly fast speed, almost as if it could pierce through space itself.
Though the kunai failed to injure anyone, it effortlessly pierced through the stone nearby, leaving a large hole.
Nevertheless, it successfully halted Danzo's actions.
"Who is it?"
"Izanagi, Danzo, how many times can you perform this technique?"
Emerging from the darkness, a peculiar figure suddenly appeared.
He did not answer Danzo's question but instead fixated his gaze upon Danzo's right eye, which was fading and on the brink of permanent closure.
