Tiffany's heart was not quite ready, even though she desperately wanted to believe what she had just said. She could not have imagined that someone would play a practical joke on her like that, and then the hope she had was gone in an instant.
She leaned against the chair in front of the study table, frowning as she looked at the note.
"I will find you soon," she said, scowling at the note before being cut off by a noise outside her room.
Tiffany's eyes darkened, and she quickly put everything aside, ready to chastise the person she thought was Jacob, and ran out of her room.
"After all this time, how dare you show up?" Her words died when she realized it wasn't her father but Susan, who returned home after work.
Susan attempted to clean up the mess she thought Jacob had made; she knew how easily he could lose his temper, and the way he would destroy everything in the house told her he was really angry with her.
