Eveline could feel the intensity of the moment, but she held her ground. She studied their surroundings with great attention, then glanced over to Gabriel and uttered,
"Why even ask if you already know the answer?" Her tone was mocking, which made him even more enraged than he was before.
"Why, tell me, why do you not want to be closer to me when I confessed how I can not stay away from you?" Gabriel asked, tightening his grip on her arm and darkening his eyes.
"Do you not think that my feelings are so insignificant that you could get rid of them by going?" He asked, raising a small corner of his mouth.
Eveline was baffled as to why Gabriel was so adamant about rejecting her statements. She made it plain that she did not want to feel anything for him and that he should just treat her as inconsequential as always. So, why this stubbornness?
