Chapter 138: Chapter 138: Under the Strings of Fate, Hera and Eris

Hera left, not knowing why she departed from the Heart of the Sea. Perhaps she was just feeling troubled and needed to take a walk. Sometimes, taking a walk can indeed help clear one's mind.

After Hera left, a woman with long golden hair and perfect features slowly emerged. She shook her head gently and said with a hint of helplessness, "Hera, it's not a good time to go out now."

"Never mind," another woman's voice chimed in, "Demeter, let Hera go for a walk. As long as she stays within the sea realm, there shouldn't be any problems."

"After all, prolonged suppression and the upcoming events are enough to make anyone want to take a walk."

With the sound of footsteps, another figure appeared. Compared to the perfectly featured Demeter, this newcomer was different. She had a petite frame, long black hair, a youthful yet perfect face, and an incongruous blend of innocence and maturity.

Hestia.

Hestia, Demeter, and Hera. These three sisters were the daughters of Cronus and Rhea. Hera's departure naturally caught the attention of Hestia and Demeter. The two elder sisters stood quietly, watching Hera leave.

Demeter shook her head and said calmly, "Hestia, you should know this is really not a good time to leave. It's easy for accidents to happen now."

"No one can stop her," Hestia replied calmly. "Not even us. Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus are about to start a war, and Hera's heart is understandably troubled. This is comprehensible."

Hestia and Demeter talked, worried about Hera but not inclined to go after her. Hera's desire to leave couldn't be restrained, and her sisters knew this well. They merely discussed the situation, knowing they wouldn't involve themselves directly.

At this moment, Demeter suddenly asked, "Hestia, have you made your choice between Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus?"

Hestia, the goddess of the hearth and home.

Demeter, the goddess of agriculture, grain, and harvest.

Hera, the goddess of marriage and childbirth.

Perhaps due to the ripple effect caused by Hades or some other reason, they had only the power of Major Gods in the original story. Now, they had risen to the level of Chief Gods.

Of course, this power wasn't overwhelming, but these three sisters, if unable to choose sides, would become prime targets. Gods never cared about emotions in the face of power and status. The logic was simple: if you don't choose me, then you must die because I can't let you choose someone else.

"Choose?" Hestia shook her head gently. "I don't know what choice to make. I think living in the Heart of the Sea is good enough, isn't it?"

Demeter looked at her smiling sister but said nothing. She turned and left.

Hestia gazed into the distance, whispering, "Power, desire, status—all these will change everything. As for me..."

"What should I choose?" Hestia didn't know how to make this choice. It was truly perplexing and frustrating.

If there were a choice, Hestia wouldn't want to be involved in this war. It was her brothers' war, but she didn't wish to be part of it. However, she knew that retreat was impossible. No matter how much she wanted to withdraw, the outcome was already decided. No one could back out, no matter who.

"Forget it." Hestia shook her head, murmuring, "Take it one step at a time. Let's consider the future when it comes."

Hestia didn't dwell on it because it was pointless. She understood that too much worry was futile.

...

Charon, Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos. The four Fates were quietly plucking the strings of fate, influencing the destinies of Hera and Metis, and even gradually involving Prometheus.

For these four sisters, affecting the destinies of such deities wasn't easy, and each had a pale complexion.

Finally, as a pleasant melody ceased, everything seemed to return to calm, making people involuntarily relax. The four sisters exchanged glances, each wearing a smile.

They had succeeded. Although exhausted, they had managed, and that was good news.

"Phew~~~"

"Time to rest."

"Indeed."

"The rest..."

"It's done!"

"Let's go."

The four Fates left one by one. With their departure, Hera's figure gradually approached. She carried a trace of discontent, a sentiment stemming from her own emotions.

For Hera, she had been quite dissatisfied recently, especially concerning her relationship with Zeus and the situation with Metis.

In summary, various issues left Hera very displeased. However, she couldn't reveal her jealous and resentful nature now because she knew that the impending war was crucial. If she did anything to affect this, it would be disastrous.

Hera understood this, which was why she was troubled. As time passed, she keenly sensed the emergence of a new deity, bringing strife and discord.

Eris!
