Chapter 87: Chapter 81: Morning?

And so, after their little talk, Kai drifted into a deep sleep.

But his girlfriend didn't sleep with him.

She remained awake for some other time, so that she could look at her beloved boyfriend in her arms and giving him all the affection she could.

Her eyes were locked into his sleeping face, slowly analyzing all of his features and sometimes curving her lips into a small smile.

Kai's head was buried into Hina's chest, like he was seeking some kind of protection.

Hina's arms were still wrapped around his neck and the back of his head, caressing his hair.

Hina's heart felt warm.

She was feeling a lot of happiness in that moment.

Kai was slowly becoming another person, or… he was just discovering himself and his true nature.

Who knows.

That innocent guy was too "stupid" for this cruel world, and the pressure will him someday if he doesn't change himself.

He had nothing special…

Kai was just a normal guy, with normal habits, living a normal life in an apparent normal enviroment.

He literally slept into a bubble of glass built around him.

He didn't know how life truly worked and how evil and cruel people can be… until now.

Hina could be a blessing… or a course.

Despite that, he had the guts of taking a decision.

He wanted to save her, no matter what.

And that was a good starting point… maybe.

Maybe Hina couldn't be saved, or she didn't want to be saved…

But the only thing she was sure about , was that she wanted Kai in her life, and she could literally destroy a whole world just to stay with him.

But why was she so attached to Kai?

Even Hina asked this question to herself a lot of times, and yet, she couldn't find a proper answer.

All she knew were the feelings that she had while being with Kai.

Love, madness, jealousy, pain… too many things.

That night, Hina couldn't sleep so well despite being in Kai's company since some intrusive thoughts were running trough her mind.

Haruto, Akira, the criminal gang, her aunt… her past was still hunting and following her like a shadow.

And with her past, other dark figures would've emerged.

She didn't want to think about that.

But no matter how hard she tried, all of her thoughts still returned on the bad things like a boomerang.

The only thing that was "distracting" her was Kai.

All she ever wanted…

And he was hers.

Her property, her boyfriend, her love, her… toy.

Everything.

She kept caressing his Hair over and over again, while gently thinking about her future with him to distract herself.

One day, she wanted to have a family, a child… a happy house… but… she always wondered if she's allowed to have such things.

She killed people, a lot of people.

And more than that, some people could've also been parents of someone…

She was perfectly conscious of what she always did in her life.

But that also wasn't her fault… or that's how she wanted to see things.

And so, despite all these things that she was thinking about, she closed her eyes and tried to sleep with her boyfriend.

But this time, she was the one "seeking protection."

She released Kai from his grip and slowly moved her head to his chest.

"So… warm…" Hina said to herself, while gently burying her face into Kai's chest.

She could even feel his heartbeat.

Calm and slow, sign that Kai was totally defenseless and vulnerable to any kind of thing.

Then, Hina closed her eyes and tried to sleep.

"Good night, love." She whispered.

Kai and Hina remained entwined in each other's arms throughout the night.

The stillness of the room was only interrupted by the soft sounds of their breathing, and the outside world seemed distant, almost nonexistent.

However, the peaceful moment didn't last forever.

A sharp, insistent ringing broke the morning silence. It was the alarm clock.

Kai slowly opened his eyes, still groggy from sleep.

He felt a light weight on his chest, and as he glanced down, he saw Hina nestled against him, her face gently resting on his chest.

Her black, soft hair spread over him like a veil.

She was so close that he could feel her warm, steady breath.

Hina didn't move immediately, but he sensed her body reacting to the sound of the alarm.

She snuggled a little closer to him, as if she didn't want to let go of the moment.

For a brief instant, Kai stayed still, uncertain of what to do.

A part of him wanted to remain like that forever, but another, more rational part knew they had to get ready for school.

"Hina…" he whispered softly, trying not to startle her.

She stirred slightly, opening her eyes slowly.

A faint smile appeared on her lips when she saw Kai, but she didn't immediately pull away from his chest.

Instead, she hid her face against him for another moment, as if wanting to prolong the closeness.

"Good morning…" she murmured in a low, almost whispered voice.

Her tone was sweet, but there was something else there, something possessive in that greeting.

Kai cleared his throat, trying to shake off the remnants of sleep. "We need to… get up. It's late."

Reluctantly, Hina moved, pulling away slightly from him, but not before giving him one last deep look.

Her dark eyes glistened with an emotion Kai couldn't quite decipher.

Was it love? Or was there something deeper, hidden beneath the surface?

Both got out of bed and prepared in silence, each lost in their own thoughts.

Their morning routine went smoothly: they washed up, dressed, and finally found themselves in the kitchen for breakfast.

They found Yuna eating her breakfast alone.

"Good morning, Yuna." Kai said with a yawn.

"Good morning, friend." Hina added, with a friendly smile, while holding Kai's hand.

Yuna, caught by surprise , looked at them and smiled.

"G-Good morning." She said, putting on a smile.

"O-Oh, I wake too early, don't mind at me." She added, with a small laugh.

"It's okay, don't worry." Kai said, while taking a look around. "But where are my parents?" He then asked.

"Your parents left early because of some working issues. They found me awake her and told me to say you so." Yuna said, while eating her cereal.

Kai's parents had left for… working issues?

The young man let out a sigh and then sat down at the table , followed by his girlfriend.

"Classic." He said, clearly annoyed by the fact that they weren't there.

Hina seemed to be in a good mood, though her movements were quieter and more controlled than usual.

Kai, on the other hand, startle to feel a subtle unease he couldn't quite shake off, like something was about to happen.

So, he stood up again and decided to prepare everything to not think about it.

He just wanted to enjoy the morning.

As he prepared breakfast, the clatter of utensils and the sound of boiling water seemed louder than usual.

Hina was looking at him with a "proud" gaze.

It was as though there was a tension in the air, an invisible vibration hanging between them.

Hina approached the table with her usual graceful step, sitting across from him.

Her eyes followed his every move, but she didn't speak much.

Her words were replaced by subtle smiles and long gazes.

There was something different about her, something Kai couldn't put his finger on, but it made him feel restless.

While he ate, Kai tried to ignore the feeling, convinced it was just a leftover from the previous night, the weight of the confession still heavy on his heart.

But the more he tried to distract himself, the more the tension seemed to grow.

"Are you okay?" Hina suddenly asked, interrupting his train of thought.

Her voice was soft, but there was a note of concern.

Kai looked at her, trying to smile. "Yeah… just tired, I guess."

She watched him for a moment, then tilted her head slightly as if studying him. "If something's wrong, you can tell me, you know…"

He quickly nodded, avoiding any further discussion. "I know."

They finished breakfast in silence, and when it was time to leave the house, Kai still couldn't shake the strange feeling that accompanied him.

The sky was clear, the sun shining brightly, but he felt as if an invisible shadow hung over them.

Yuna also told them that a car would've accompanied the three of them everywhere.

But something was strange.

Yuna was kidnapped, and that news about her would've been gone viral on all social medias, platforms and tv journals.

Instead, nobody even called her.

Not even Hana, who was with her and looked at everything.

Something was actually happening.

Then, as Yuna, Kai and Hina finished their preparations for school, the maids gently accompanied them outside and a big car was waiting for them.

They had to go to their home to grab their things , so the travel would've been longer than usual.

So, they sat in the car and the driver took everyone to grab their things.

First was Yuna, then Kai and Hina.

She had left a lot of things in Kai's home.

After that, the driver finally took them to school.

As they walked out of the car Hina took Kai's hand, intertwining her fingers with him, while Yuna gently waved a goodbye and a "thanks for everything"'followed by a bow.

They didn't care so much about her, so they just gave Yuna a small smile and waved back at her.

Then, Kai felt another pressure on his hand.

Hina's gesture was natural, but Kai couldn't help but notice that her grip was slightly tighter than usual, as if she didn't want to let him go.

The school garden was peaceful, with the usual morning bustle of the city awakening, with all the students walking into the school.

But despite the noise of life moving around them, Kai felt a latent anxiety growing inside him.

It was a feeling he couldn't explain, like something was about to happen, something big.

"Are you really okay?" Hina asked again, this time with a note of sweetness in her voice. She seemed genuinely concerned for him.

Kai sighed, trying to reassure her. "Yeah, really. Maybe it's just tiredness."

But even as he said the words, he knew they weren't entirely true.

Something was off, something he couldn't quite grasp.

After his discussion with Hina, he started to wonder about everything.

Even himself.

But for now, he chose to let it go.

As they neared the school, the sense of unease still lingered.

Even Hina, despite her apparent calm, seemed to feel that tension in the air, though she didn't voice it.

When they reached the school gates after the big garden before the real entrance, Kai stopped for a moment, looking at the building in front of him.

He had the feeling that the day ahead wouldn't be like the others.

"Ready for a normal day? I think that it will be difficult." Hina asked, still holding his hand.

Kai looked at her, his heart feeling slightly heavy.

He didn't know why, but he sensed something was about to change.

But still, there was nothing to do but move forward.

"Yeah," he finally replied, trying to sound confident.

And then, together, they walked into the school, ready to face whatever was coming next…
