Chapter 4: He's Mad At Me

Chapter Four: He's Mad At Me!

Zenith looked at the dent Nephis made and smirked.

Physical strength, impressive agility, and born with more essence than a normal person – those amazing features comprised of an average Guandan citizen.

Sad enough, they had no interest in being mages and worshipped their moon and ocean gods and entrusted their whole lives to them.

Only recently, when the war that ended had affected their realm, did some Guandans decide to do something more with their natural born gifts and joined Magic Oriented Schools.

Zenith returned to his office. "Let's hope she actually comes up with interesting things, at least something better than a water snake."

He fell on his seat and began drawing water snakes out of boredom. He'd seen actual water snakes before when they got stolen from Guanda and reeked of negative essence. They had lost their slimy bodies when they reeked of negative essence so Zenith added the slime effect on the drawing.

After an hour of trying to brush it up to look as real as possible, he set it the book he drew in on the ground.

He took off his coat and slowly unbuttoned the t-shirt he wore inside. The coat and t-shirt dropped on the chair to reveal broad shoulders and muscular arms, with two scar marks at each side. Scars gotten from battle.

If any female student walked in at that point, another crazed fan moment would've occur.

On each of Zenith's arms were four metallic bands tied around his forearms. He turned to the right and to the left, flexing it a bit. He sighed, and carefully unlocked a band from each arm.

An invisible dense aura filled in the room and the bird that perched the window minutes ago flew out in a panic, but fell to the ground. Zenith turned to the window and there was a slight change in his form as veins became pronounced. He looked away from the window when he heard the bird's chirps and it flew further away from the window.

"I hope no one noticed." His manager had made him swear not to take more than two of his bands off as they restrict his essence flow. They were his infamous handicaps but could they be really called handicaps if he could pull them out when he pleased?

For the purpose he released his essence flow to three-eighth, he leaned towards the book on the floor. Rising from around him, a small breeze moved the pages of the book, impacting it with Zenith's essence.

"Word's Will. Swim."

The force of the breeze slightly increased and a dark blue glow surrounding the two drawn images of the water snakes. They left the book like they left another dimension and while still in paper cut form, swam in the air and encircled Zenith's head.

He smiled satisfactorily and reached for the bands on the table. Word's Will needed an amount of essence to command, especially when trying to will an inanimate to life. He needed at least three-eighth of his essence to use it as it was no ordinary skill.

Now alive, the water snakes could keep extracting his essence to keep being 'alive'. The dense aura in the room dissipated when Zenith replaced the bands on his forearms. He wore his t-shirt but left the coat on the seat's head.

His eyes followed the water snakes as they spiraled in front of him, it's all he could do to combat boredom without breaking any rule or taking out more bands.

His presence overriding the students brains were only one of the risks, because lesser overconfident villains could get drawn to his presence and attack the school.

A SS-Rank villain would be nothing to him but could annihilate more than half the students here if not handled at once. As a teacher he had to prevent that from happening, or his fun in the school would end before it even started.

Meanwhile at the hallway that separated Zenith's office from the other classes, Layla had been glued to the wall in a pathetic attempt to hide from the intimidating presence that took her ability to walk.

She had come running towards the young Mage's office after her best friend had misunderstood what she said and came after Zenith.

With his presence becoming intense few minutes after Nephis left, Layla could only think of one thing. "That arrogant attractive man that turned out to be SSSSS-Rank Mage Zenith Ichiban is terribly mad at me!!"

The earth needed to hide her, and she glued to the walls hoping to merge with them. She didn't have the guts to try to clear it up and who knows what he'd do if she came to his office!

She left the wall when she felt the presence subsided, her heart drummed like they were in a festival and she just stood there, trying to catch her breath.

"Nephis, this… this had made my school experience even worse!" She stretched her face muscles.

She had seen the youngest SSS-Rank Mage on television but only that one time his parents' burial had been done on public TV. It didn't look like people came to mourn and the whole world watched the young Mage sign autographs and shirts.

Zenith Ichiban had been fifteen then and actually looked like a fifteen year old would. Nothing very spectacular then, at least to Layla.

Since he broke a fourth S-Class, he became an endangered specie and when news carried that he broke the fifth S-Class, it left the world's jaw on the floor and they wondered how far he could go.

How would she have guessed such an endangered specie would casually dig a grave for her while egging her to unalive herself, even if he hadn't been direct?

"And the tales of his proud demeanor and horrible mood swings…" she shuddered at the thought. She remembered how causal he had spoken to her and even called her 'woman' even if it's a cold woman.

He had also been worried for her sake, hadn't he? She slapped her face instantly and it became red.

"What're you thinking? Idiot! Don't forget that you had also been rude to him at the rooftop and now this with Nephis." She turned back to her class. "I should do my best to avoid him. That's the only way I can live long enough to atone for my sins."

She felt the presence of this problematic Mage might even be the heavens testing her, so all she had to do was prevail.

The day ended up with the ninth period and Zenith had spent the whole day staring at the door, expecting a student or a teacher.

When the last bell for the last period rang, there was a knock, and with no response, Sir Bennett slowly opened the door.

His eyes met the burning gaze of the young Mage and he shrieked, closing the door and experiencing spasms of shudders all over his body.

The young Mage's mood had been ruined by his incompetence. Sir Bennett pleaded with the earth to swallow him whole and delete his existence.
