Chapter 43: Chapter 43

Ashes.

That's pretty much all that is left of Ohara, the former homeplace of the Tree of Knowledge, and the island is famous for its archeology and large library with the biggest collection of historical books.

The whole genocide of anyone living on this island is already bad enough, but in the process, they also destroyed a location of such significant value.

A tree that had been 5000 years old. It's planting being the oldest known event in the whole timeline of this world. A unique relic that was gone from this world forever.

Robin, who was accompanying him, had become pale and very quiet once they arrived on the island that had been her home until the age of eight.

"What exactly were you hoping to find here?" She asked with a shaking and very quiet voice. She had been trembling for a while and was visibly fighting the tears that threatened to form in the corner of her eyes.

Maybe it hadn't been the best idea for him to bring her with him to a place with such painful memories. But in his mind, it would have been easier to find the things he was looking for with a guide.

"I am sorry to have brought you here, Robin. But I need to check two specific locations. The first place I am looking for is close to the Tree of Knowledge, a small lake." Harry requested it with an honest look.

His gamer mind suppressed many human emotions, making him forget to actually consider how other people were feeling.

Robin looked at him for a moment, still shaking and pale, before weakly nodding. "I think I know the place you are looking for."

They walked around the stump of the burned tree, passing the broken remains of buildings that once stood around the tree, until they arrived at a small lake. The water on it was muddied from the ashes of the rest of the island. It was empty. But based on the looks of it, it resembled what he remembered from the manga.

"What's supposed to be here?" Robin asked quietly, as she didn't see anything while they were looking at the water.

"Exactly what we are seeing here. According to my information from the story about your world, Dr. Clover and the other archeologists saved as many books by throwing them here into the water when the Tree of Knowledge started to burn because of the Buster Call." Harry explained, while a small smile graced his lips, that it was a relief to see the lake as it is now.

"But nothing is here!" Robin cried out, "Their legacy is gone, or even worse, it fell into the hands of the World Government!"

"Don't worry, Robin. This is a good sign. The story you are part of has been told for many years with weekly chapters.

And for a long time, what exactly had happened to their research? Their legacy had been a mystery. Unil is one of the last few chapters I read before I died myself and was reborn.

And I am relieved to tell you that my information is so far accurate." Harry chuckled.

"Who has them?"

"An old friend of yours survived the buster call too. And he contacted his home, calling the New Giant Warrior Pirates to save the Legacy of Ohara." Harry said as they stood at the edge of the lake.

"S-saul? He is alive." Robin now visibly cried, but she had a wide smile on her beautiful face. These weren't tears of sadness.

"Yes, and he is on Elbaf. The Giants are guarding the legacy of Ohara. While the people didn't survive, their work did." Robin was already hugging him as she cried, while he patted her back, calming her down.

It took a while before she calmed down enough. This much younger Robin wasn't the calm and collected Oneesan yet. She hadn't experienced as much pain as her older self, whom he knew from One Piece.

The lifetime of being hunted down was considerably shorter. Robin hadn't reached the point where she was ready to die, like in Alabasta.

Harry swore to himself that he would protect her. She went through just as much pain as his original self, and she would have gone through more for more than a decade if she hadn't met him.

"Are you good to go? I want to check out another place before we take a rest for the day. Tomorrow is a big day. We have to travel at least to another blue." Harry asked when Robin had stopped crying.

She rested her head on his shoulder for a moment before she nodded. "Yes, I am ready.

What place do you want to visit next?"

"Can you lead me to the approximate spot where the Porneglyph had been?"

"You… " She started looking at him, but then just stopped, thinking it over for a moment. "I can. Come."

She led him deeper into the burned remains of the Tree of Knowledge, her face once again stoic, not wanting to think about what had happened here. They soon arrived at the spot where she stopped.

With a sigh, she pointed at a man-made hole and said, "It had been down there. But it seems others were here before us."

"Too bad. But it had been a long call either way. Most likely, the World Government took it to make sure that others wouldn't follow the example of Ohara." Harry expressed disappointment, looking into the hole.

While it had been a good trip to confirm the validity of his Canon knowledge, he had hoped to get something from this stopover.

"What's that?" Robin asked as she noticed something down in the hole.

Harry had seen it too. He carefully descended into the hole and rummaged through the dirt. Carefully, he climbed up, back to where Robin was. "It seems we won't leave completely empty-handed. Look."

"Is that?" In his hands was a sapling. A greenish-white sapling of a tree.

Sapling of the Tree of Knowledge (Legendary): A sapling that originates from the ancient Tree of Knowledge that has been around for 5000 years.

It can grow to the same size as the original and contains powerful natural properties.

"Yes, it is. I believe Skagos is a good spot to let it grow again. With a bit of help, it will become just as big as the original one.

What do you think, Robin?"

Now she had a stunning smile on her face and said, "Yes."

———

They had explored the remains of Ohara for a bit longer that day but found nothing noteworthy. Anything of value had either been destroyed by the Buster Call or plundered in the aftermath.

"Are you sure you are able to find them? Not even the World Government can directly seek them out. Discovering one has always been a matter of luck. At most, you could buy them if there is someone willing to sell." Robin asked as she stood beside him at their temporary camp beside the lake from yesterday.

Harry had transfigured a small temporary hut for them to sleep in. Magic was really convenient, with enough mastery.

"I am not sure. There are multiple approaches for me to find them. But at the very least, I know some places where some of them will appear in the future. At the very least, I want to check them out." Harry said before facing the lake, "But we can test one of my methods directly; let's start with the one I am most confident in."

He headed for the edge of the lake and pointed with his hand at it, "Draumr kópa." This is the basic spelling in the ancient language.

Usually they cost not much power, but just in case the Eldunari were ready to assist him if something unexpected happens.

The Scrying Spell was one of the most useful pieces of magic in the Eragon World. It allows one to see the state of something on any reflective surface, like a mirror or the water surface.

Of course, the spell had its own limitations. It could be blocked for one. But it was unlikely that anyone in the One Piece World knew Wards, even though he wasn't sure if Haki could be utilized in a similar manner. And he didn't want to try out for now.

It was the most common limitation that he was unsure if he could overcome. The user had to have seen the target he was scrying for in the past. And obviously, Harry hadn't seen much in the One Piece World himself.

But he had read the manga and watched the anime. He had seen pictures. And there were precdents in the Eragon Books, notably Eragon himself, who had unconiusly scryed Arya without having seen her before himself.

The possibility of scrying something one had seen a picture of wasn't explored at all. Hopefully, having seen something in the manga and anime or just the wiki was enough.

And then it happened: on the surface of the lake, an image formed.

While they couldn't see the surroundings, which was part of the limitations that he had not explored the One Piece World at all, they could see a round orange object, composed of many flame-shaped components with swirl patterns on each one and having a swirled stem on the top.

The Mera Mera no mi, or Ace's future Devil Fruit, is the Flame-Flame Fruit.
