Alex opened a small window for her, allowing the distant sound of the waves to reach the room. She didn't fall asleep listening to it; instead, she was more awake than ever.

Lily sat up from the bed, put on her jacket, and carefully hopped downstairs on one foot, trying not to land too hard on her sprained foot. When she reached the bottom, she immediately got into her wheelchair and went outside, carrying a portable lamp.

After this trip, she probably couldn't come to the beach for a long time. Lily turned on the portable light to see how far away the beach was. Looking up, she saw Alex sitting alone on the beach under the light, wearing only a shirt and pants, no jacket. His back appeared forlorn and lonely against the vast sea.
