Chapter 159: The Duchess Eiravyne Sangrever

Eiravyne tightened her arms around Urag, fingers digging into the fabric of his shirt as though he might slip away if she didn't hold on tight enough.

 She buried her face in his chest, her words coming out in trembling, broken fragments.

 "U-urag, p-please… please d-don't think… it's not… I don't want to g-go back to … I-I….just"

Her whole body pressing close as if hoping he'd understand how true her words were.

 His silence lingered, his arms still around her, but his grip had loosened, his gaze fixed on something far beyond her. 

She could sense the hurt in his quietness, in the way his chin tilted slightly away, and it sent a panicked shiver through her.

"Please… Urag," she whispered, her voice soft and wavering. "I-I just…."

This man treated her as if she were his whole world, his anchor and his purpose.

 And yet, here she was, stumbling over her words, panicking, afraid she'd already ruined it.
