Chapter 3: I Am Nothing

Destiny's POV

I could no longer contain the rapid dipping of the tears on my cheeks. My tender fingers got tired of wiping them away as I walked back toward my room. It was hard to stop my mind from wandering back to Red's bedroom and the scene he was in.

He was having a good time with my step-sister, the person who was responsible for my misery. I wanted to make Red open his eyes and find the truth, but those pictures and videos made him deaf and blind like my father.

I will never let them get away from this, but I felt so helpless. There was no one I could turn to, and I felt so alone. I had limited friends since I found out most of them, whom I thought were my friends, were fake.

Emma and Red were enough; many wished to be friends with me because of my family name, but I am choosy in terms of whom I want to be with. I felt disappointed I couldn't convince my father that his new wife was a social climber and a user, and so was her daughter.

My tears subsided, but the pain remained, and I didn't know how long I would feel this way. I climbed the stairs, not caring if my stepmom would see me; I didn't care anymore.

I strode towards my room with a heavy heart and confused mind. I thought Red was my salvation, but he made it worse.

I stared at my closet for a long time. I didn't want to go, and my heart wanted to stay since I had all my good memories of my mother in this house, but thinking about Red's betrayal was killing me.

"I hate you, Red! I hate you so much!" I shouted even if I knew no one would hear me.

I wished to call Emma, but I didn't have my phone. When I looked at the clock hanging on my wall, it had been two hours since my father talked with me, and I had a little hope that he didn't mean a single word of what he said to me.

My heart raced when I heard the loud knocking on my door, and my legs quivered as I walked and opened my door.

My father stood there looking mighty as ever with a paper in his hand, and I suddenly felt nervous when I found him creasing his forehead.

"Destiny, I am so disappointed that you are still here," his words sliced my heart like a knife.

"Now, I think you will leave this house after reading this," he added as he handed me the paper. I was speechless, and with a trembling hand, I took the piece of paper from him. My eyes widened as I started reading it, and I realized it was a DNA paternity test.

"What this means?" I weakly said as I stared at the 0% result on the paper.

"It only means one thing, Destiny: I raised a child of another man. There isn't a genetic match between us." He responded, and I couldn't breathe.

"And you believe this one piece of paper handed to you by your wife?" I asked, trying to control the shaking of my voice.

"Of course, we went to the hospital for a DNA test with my sample and yours after she found a love letter from your mother to her lover." My dad replied.

"What?" I asked, unable to believe Carmen would go this far to evict me from my house.

"Dad, I am your daughter; I got my physical appearance from you; your friends used to tell you if I were a boy, I would look exactly like you. I knew Carmen fabricated everything." I added.

"We need to do another test, just the two of us without your wife and Carmie." I continued.

"Enough! Don't accuse Carmen of anything, Destiny. I was hurt that your mother cheated on me. I want you out of this house in one hour." Dad responded with anger in his voice, turned around, and left me with shaking limbs.

"Carmen! You are evil!" I yelled as I got inside my room and started packing my things.

My father is blinded by his love for Carmen and won't listen to me. I need to get out of this house before my father drags me out. I needed to plan my revenge carefully to get everything back, including my father's affection.

I only needed one suitcase with little clothes and important documents, including my mother's picture. I don't need many clothes, bags, shoes or perfumes. I pulled out some jewelry from the box just in case I needed money, but I had my card and didn't need cash.

I looked around my room for the keys to my cars, but they were all gone.

"You think you can bring one of those cars, Destiny?" I heard my stepmom's voice behind me.

"From today onwards, you are no longer Destiny Ganzon. You are nothing. I will be the queen of this household, and Carmie will become the princess." She added, showing me the keys dangling in her hands.

"Now, go!" She shouted.

"Enjoy your day as the queen, Carmen, but remember, evil deeds will never succeed. One day, I will come back and claim what is mine." I said, and she laughed.

"Ha! As if you can do that, look at me, girl. I am more powerful than you and can play your daddy with my fingers. I even made him believe you weren't his daughter." She responded.

"And now, in his eyes, you were the fake heiress," she added.

"How dare you accuse my mother of being unfaithful to my father!" I hissed as I came closer to her and slapped her hard on the face, and she screamed as she pulled my hair and kicked my tummy.

I wailed in pain, but it didn't stop me from using my fingers to scrape her smooth face with my nails, and I felt so happy to see her in misery as she let me go. I heard the dropping sound of the keys as they hit the floor.

But my victory was cut short as I found my dad beside Carmen in an instant, together with the guards.

I was hauled from my room, and they carried me out of the house through the long driveway to the main gate. I was shouting and screaming, but my attempt to strike back was futile. What made it worse was Carmie, accompanied by Red, threw my suitcase at the center of the road, and it was hit by the bus right before my eyes.

"No!" I screamed as I watched my suitcase run over by the bus.

They left me just as the rain started to pour, and I picked up my belongings, trying to salvage everything. My heart was pierced with pain as I watched the picture frame of my mom turned into pieces.

Drenched and shivering, I find refuge in the nearby tree on the side of the road, carrying my things with a broken suitcase. The heavy rain continued gushing, and since our mansion was far away from the city center, I needed to book a taxi or grab a car since I was not sure about the bus schedule, but I didn't have a phone.

I patiently waited for vehicles to pass by and have a lift. I hugged my body with my arms as I felt the wind brushing against my wet skin, unable to process what just happened to my beautiful life as the lovely heiress of Alejandro Ganzon.

"How does it feel to be your father's daughter?" Emma used to ask me.

"Nothing, I didn't feel anything. I am just happy he is my dad. He never abandoned or made me feel alone after my mom died, even if he remarried; he always made sure I was having a comfortable life even if most of the time he sided with my enemies." I always said those things.

I didn't take it against him since I knew my dad was a good person. I used to say those words to my best friend, but now, I don't know my own father anymore.

How could he buy that kind of bullshit? He knew I was his daughter just with one glance.

I was startled by the loud sound of the horn, and I felt so happy to see a pickup truck in front of me and glad that someone was willing to help me.

"Where are you going, Miss?" An older man asked as he opened his car window, and I felt glad the rain had stopped.

I told him I was going downtown and thankful he was headed in that direction to have some groceries.

"You are soaked; here, please, use my jacket." He offered, and I shook my head.

"Thank you, but I will ride in the cargo bed at the back; I can't wet your seat," I responded.

"No? You are shivering; you should sit at the back and change." He insisted.

"I won't peak. I am old, and I am not a pervert." He added. I smiled as I took the jacket from him.

"I know," I responded.

The jacket was too big for me that it looked like I was wearing a dress enough to cover my body down to my knees.

"Thank you so much," I said after I settled in the front seat, realizing he wasn't only tall but a big man.

"You are welcome. Are you one of Alejandro's employees?" He asked, and I nodded my head.

I hate lying, but I couldn't tell him what was happening with my life.

"If you are tired from working for that rich man, you can work for me." He said, and he handed me his calling card, and I weakly beamed at him.

"You own a farm?" I asked.

"Yes, but it was far from here." He replied.

"A beautiful scenery can heal a broken heart," he added, and I turned my head and looked at him.

"With that look all over your face, I know your heart got broken today," he continued. I was lost for words since he was right two men broke my heart today, and we fell silent for the rest of the ride until we reached the city.

"Thank you so much for your kindness, Sir," I said before exiting his vehicle.

"You can use my backpack; I don't think you will survive with that suitcase." He added and ensured my things were okay before he drove away.

I couldn't thank him enough, and I waved my hands as I watched his pick-up move away from me as I stood on the sidewalk. My dad was wrong; some people are willing to help without asking for anything in return.

My father kept telling me to stay away from strangers all the time because it was dangerous; I could get kidnapped. I often told him I wanted to move out, but he insisted I stay in our mansion. And it was ironic since today, he kicked me out of our house.

"I am sorry, Miss, but your card was declined," the front office cashier said as she returned my card. I was standing in the lobby of one of the most expensive hotels in the city.

"Okay, you can try my other cards," I confidently responded, and then, the same thing happened with my other cards, and it dawned on me: my dad froze all my accounts, and it made me realize that my stepmom was right, I am now nothing.
