Chapter 225: Irrational*

The light in Matteo's eyes was haunting. It was filled with desire, resembling a beast who had finally found its prey after many hours on the hunt. 

Even when they had parted from the kiss — and rather reluctantly — the ravenous look in Matteo's eyes remained. He was starved for her touch and it wasn't something that could so easily be satiated.

Matteo's fingers combed Amelia's hair, tucking the strands neatly behind her ears while still holding her close. His lips were inches apart from hers― if Amelia just leaned forward a bit, she was sure they would touch once more.

"Do you even realize what you're doing?" Matteo murmured, his words no louder than a breathy whisper that fell on her lips due to their close proximity. "Do you even realize the sort of power you hold over me?"

"No," Amelia said truthfully. "Do I hold any?"

"Every bit of it," he said.
