Chapter 2: Arcade.
( Ena's POV )
When lunchtime arrived, Ryuji and I headed to the cafeteria but on the way the student council president walked towards us, She was Kirijo Mitsuru, an attractive girl with long red hair and eyes of the same color.
Seeing her, Ryuji walked forward to the cafeteria and gave me a thumbs-up, leaving me alone with Mitsuru.
Ena: good morning president, what can I do for you?
Mitsuru: I heard that you were called to the principal's office, can you tell me what that was about.
Ena: oh the same as always, the principal blaming me for something I didn't do.
Mitsuru: You know I could help you if you accepted my offer to join the student council.
Ena: Thanks but no thanks, he and I will never be on good terms, I don't know why you keep insisting on having someone like me on the student council.
I walked past Mitsuru but before I turned into the hallway she said a few last words.
Mitsuru: I know how capable you really are, just think about what I said.

After grabbing my food I sat at Ryuji's table and he was with his head turned, I followed his gaze and saw a group of boys in the schoolyard.
Ena: what do you think is happening there?
Ryuji: I don't know... Do you want to go check it out?
After thinking for a moment I gulped down my cold coffee and grabbed my sandwich.
Ena: yeah let's go.
We leave the cafeteria and walk quietly so that the boys won't notice us, I wanted to shout to give them a little one but as I was nearby I could hear some familiar names.
Ena: hey! What are they doing over there?
The boys jumped and when they turned around, some relaxed and others got a little scared after all, Ryuji and we had a reputation in the school.
One of the ones who wasn't scared was Daichi, he lived near my house so he knew me.
Daichi: oh it's nothing, we were just enjoying the fresh air.
Ena: oh really? You mentioned Ann, Io, Mitsuru, Yukari, Makoto, what were you guys talking about?
Those were the names of some of the most attractive girls in school, it was pretty obvious what they were discussing.
Daichi: I just asked a simple question and the conversation got out of control.
Ena: and that was it?
Daichi: who is the prettiest girl in school.
Ena: I was waiting for something more interesting, you know if the girls find out what you are talking about you will earn the rage of all of them.
Daichi: jeje yeah, we will be careful.
Ena: sure you will.

The rest of the school day was normal but at the end, our teacher talked about the recent violent attacks and told us that we would avoid going out too late and that we would walk in groups, In the room there were those who were worried and others who did not take the warning seriously, Ryuji and I were among those.
We spent the day without worrying and in the end we were at the arcade playing a light gun game, I told Ryuji about the app that appeared on my phone, and since it could only be used at midnight I had to wait to find out more.
When we beat the game my mind wandered to those violent attacks, maybe something to investigate but at that moment Ryuji asked a question that took me out of my thoughts.
Ryuji: hey Ena, is there someone you like?
Ena: huh? Where did that come from?
Ryuji: I don't know, With teachers always bugging us about thinking about our future, I thought maybe doing something different could help.
Ena: That's surprisingly wise coming from you.
Ryuji: hey there was no need to point that out!
Ena: I'm kidding, to answer your question, no, there's no one there that I'm interested in right now.
Ryuji: But at least there is someone you think is pretty, right?
Ena: Well, of all the girls I know, I would have to say... Ann.
Ann: what about me?
While we were talking suddenly Ann appeared behind Ryuji, she must have heard when I said her name, Ryuji jumped in surprise but I stayed calm.
Ryuji: Ann! What are you doing here?
Ann: I came here with some friends, why did you mention my name?
Ena: We were talking about possible new members for our gang, you are a top candidate.
Ann: yeah no thanks, but you have the opportunity to make yourself useful.
Ena: huh? I'm not going to lend you any money.
Ann: not that! It's getting late and I need you to escort us home.
Ena: us? you and who else?
Ann took a step to the side and I saw another pretty girl, she was Io Nitta, she was a well-endowed girl with light brown hair and brown eyes, I had never spoken to her before but I knew her because she was very popular with the boys and I must admit that she is very pretty.
Io: I'm sorry for having to bother you with this.
Ena: Don't worry, it's not like we have more important things to do, right Ryuji?
Before answering Ryuji looked between Ann and me a couple of times and then he put on a smile and gave a thumbs-up.
Ryuji: Sure, we can do that.
He also gave a not-so-subtle wink in my direction, I mean, thanks for the assistance buddy but that's not what this is about.
When we accepted the mission to escort the girls we left the arcade and we walked together until we reached an intersection, Here the girls took different paths.
Ann: ok, I'm going this way.
Ena: then Ryuji will take you the rest of the way, and I'll go with Io.
Ann's place was in the same direction as Ryuji so I told her that he would accompany her, before moving on Ann stared at me and I couldn't decipher what she was thinking.
Ann: You better not try anything with Io.
Ena: ok no promises.
We went our separate ways and when it was just me and Io, she stayed pretty quiet, she wasn't very chatty but I think something wasn't right.
Ena: hey Io.
Io: h-uh yes?
Ena: That thing before was a joke, I would never do anything to you.
Io: I'm sorry, I'm a little nervous, I know you're not that kind of person.
Ena: oh really? What kind of person do you think I am?
Io: well, the kind who runs to help people in need.
