Chapter 3
Celine's POV
Never in my life did I think my mate would be my father's murderer. The Lycan King ruler of the dark moon pack,one I hated to the core. It seems the moon goddess was playing a trick on me.
After the whole facade Rose displayed at the ceremony, Steel took me back to the cabin not asking anything. One thing I'm grateful for, and also I got to know that Steel was his Beta, the second in command.
"I'm rejecting him." I sighed, staring at the ceiling.
"No you won't!" Rose said in disapproval.
"You don't expect me to embrace my father's murderer!"
"The moon goddess has a plan,you will suffer if you go ahead with it!"
"He ordered the massacre of an entire pack!"
"We have no choice but to accept our fate." Rose replied.
Five years ago my life was perfect, everything was in order. I had my father with me but right in front of me it vanished. I was the only survivor of the Silver Claw Pack,I was sold to the black market and that was when the torment started I went through hell on earth.
Leaving the black market I thought the moon goddess was giving me a chance to redeem my sins but it was a trap.
A knock at the door brought me back from my thoughts, wiping my tears I rushed to open the door.
"Hey."
"Can I come in?" Steel asked,sometimes I wonder why the moon goddess didn't pair me with someone like him.
"Yes, sure." I stepped away from the door slightly so he could enter.
"I need you to get dressed." Steel said.
"Am I going somewhere?"
"Uhm The King wants to see you." He replied.
"Yeah,you see that." Rose giggled.
"Brace yourself, I'm rejecting him!" I replied.
"Don't you dare Celine,you don't know the moon goddess plans, can't you just give him a chance?"
I scoffed, "A chance we shall see."
"Hey Celine, are you there?" Steel waved at me to get my attention.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to zoom out,wolf issues."
"Numb skull." Rose rolled her eyes.
"Okay you were saying?"
"The King wants to see you,so I have to escort you to his office." He replied.
"Okay." I sighed.
"I'll be out in a giffy."
Steel left me to do my thing,Rose whined on the clothes I chose to wear,what I couldn't understand was why she was so excited to see him. I couldn't feel any emotions of pain coming from her. We had been through a lot,and she could forget everything in a twinkle of an eye.
"You done?" Steel asked.
"Yes." I replied, Steel led me inside his car parked outside the carbin.
"Are you good?" Steel asked as he helped me with my seatbelt.
"I am, why will you think I'm not." I tried my best not to sound nervous.
"It's just you seem scared of us Lycans." He replied as he zoomed off.
"Why will you think that?"
"Coz at the offering ceremony when you learnt I was a Lycan, you've been distant."
"I'm sorry,I didn't mean to." I couldn't tell Steel the real reason for my hatred towards Lycans,I know he didn't deserve the attitude I have been showing him, he has been nothing but good to me since I was bought.Sensing my discomfort, Steel didn't push the conversation,we remained silent throughout the drive.
Steel led me to his office. I was going to see my father's murderer, one who took my loved ones away from me. I wanted to hear his reason for doing it, but I couldn't not know.
"Alpha, she's here." Steel announced.
"Let her in." A baritone voice that resonates with power answered.
Steel motioned for me to go in and I nodded. I opened the door and entered. His office was dimly lit,he sat on a weathered leather chair. His gaze was intense; he has defined angular features with a chiseled jawline with forest green eyes making him look like a god.
"Do you know who I am?" He had this undeniable aura.
"Yes." I felt a mixture of fear,pain and anger.
The enemy was right here in my front,he should pay for his sins.
He stood and walked towards me. I had to hide my hatred but I couldn't.I stepped back and he closed the door behind me and went back to the chair.
"That we are mates?" He asked.
I nodded. I was going to reject him, but I had to see what he thought of the matebond.
"What's your name?" He asked, looking at me with pity,I frowned at this.
"Celine." I replied.
"Celine, I have to reject you." He spoke with such venom that I couldn't help but flinch. Rose wailed silently at his rejection.
"I told you,he can't be trusted, what were you expecting?" I silently told her.
"We have to reject him, Rose,we will meet someone who deserves our love,he doesn't deserve us.
Looking at him sternly I said "What's your name Alpha?" I needed his name to reject him.
"I'm Alpha Jake Crimson of the dark moon pack and also the King of Lycans." He said calmly.
"I Celine Jen"
"Wait Celine." Rose stopped me midway.
"We have no choice."
"If you reject him he will know our identity." Rose cautioned.
Rose was right. I had to say my full name if I wanted to reject him and it would lead to him finding out. Mustering up courage I spoke up.
"Too bad Alpha I can't reject you.
