A Little Thought

After buying everything my Snivy needed, I had 75,000 pokedollars in my bank. Five thousand pokedollars were spent, and it was only a month's worth of food for Snivy.

I finished with what I needed before I returned to the orphanage. I had to see what gifts the kids would like. I promised them I would get them something and wouldn't hear the end of it if I didn't.

"Mom! You promised! You said that we would get casteliacones!" A child whined to their mother, which made her sigh from the headache her child was making.

Casteliacones did sound nice, and this being the perfect time to get them, I decided to buy some at a casteliacones shop.

"Everyone, I'm back." After buying ten casteliacones, I returned them so everyone in the orphanage could taste one. A cone cost 100 pokedollars each, so 1000 were gone instantly.

Seeing that I had my Pokemon and some treats, the kids surrounded me like wolves.

"Dan! How did you get a Snivy?" Lia, the second-oldest member of the orphanage, had asked out of curiosity. In three months, she would reach the age to get her first Pokemon.

Rather than the treat I bought, they seemed more excited about the Pokemon I had.

"I have never seen a Snivy before!" Simon said it with his eyes sparkling.

"Dan, could we play with your Snivy?" The kids were asking too many questions, so I had to stop them so Snivy wouldn't get overwhelmed.

"One question at a time. Since Lia asked first, I answered that first. When I was walking on my way to a daycare, a lady wearing expensive clothes came up to me." With my father being an eroge character and my mother being Baeber, I considered using my charm as an excuse.

"She told me she wanted me to accompany her, which I did. Our meeting was short because of a business she had to attend, but in return for letting her have a great time, she gave me this Snivy." This random story had managed to trick the kids.

My ability to make a straight face when lying and my charisma would convince most people when they listened to me talk.

When the kids listened to my story, I could see envy on their faces. Not everyone could get a golden finger like me. If they want it, they should just get themselves run over by a truck. Maybe, just maybe, they'll be lucky and reincarnate with their memories and get some cheats like me.

"Dan? I didn't think you would return so early." Mother Sydney entered the living room from the outside. She had groceries in her hand, and it seemed like she had headed outside to buy something.

"Welcome back, Mother Sydney." Welcoming her back, I set down the cones on the dining table.

Watching her look at my Pokemon, I could see a frown. Even if she tries to hide it, her dislike for Snivy is hard to hide.

"Snivy..." My Pokemon sensed something was wrong with Mother Sydney's attitude, but I patted its head, comforting it to distract it.

"Snivy, why don't you return first? I will play with you later." He nodded as I returned Snivy to the luxury ball.

After returning to the ball, I saw that Mother Sydney felt terrible about her actions. It was a little awkward, but I broke the silence because of how uncomfortable this was.

"Mother Sydney, I got my Pokemon. My Snivy was just hatched. I have decided that I will wait for a month before I set off on my journey." It was ridiculous to expect a new-born Pokemon to go to the wild, but I will start my journey once my Snivy becomes buff.

"Is that so? That's great." Mother Sydney's expression brightened, seeing that I would stay a little longer.

"Mother Sydney, why don't we treat ourselves to casteliacones? The kids are already eating it, and if we're too late, we might not get one." She smiled as she put her groceries in the fridge.

"Why haven't I had a taste of this before?" I couldn't help but marvel at the taste of the ice cream. The texture was great, and the sweetness enhanced the experience.

After eating my casteliacone, I returned to my room. Snivy hadn't eaten yet, and the poke food I bought was still in hand.

"Snivy, are you hungry? Here, why don't you have a taste of this?" Similar to what Brock had whipped up for Ash and their Pokemon, the food looked like something a dog would eat.

It was a greenish-brown nutrient treat. When putting it in his bowl, Snivy looked at it and sniffed it before taking a bite.

"Snivy! Snivy!" Taking its first bite, Snivy cheered as it found the food delicious, and my worries disappeared. Not that I didn't trust Nurse Joy, but seeing how Snivy reacted to it first would confirm if it was great.

"Dan! Could we play with your Snivy?" Both Jen and Simon entered the room simultaneously.

"How about tomorrow? After Snivy finishes eating, it needs to go to sleep. It's still a baby, after all." All I could do was reject their excitement. Seeing me decline, their disappointment was immeasurable—not to the point where it would ruin their day. It was great that they understood, and because of that, they backed off.

Soon after Snivy finished eating its food, I brought moo-moo milk for its growth. After drinking the milk, Snivy became tired and yawned.

"Snivy, rest well, goodnight." Seeing that my Pokemon was tired, I returned it to the pokeball.

I didn't think I would be a doting parent so soon. Dan's memories had affected me more than I thought. What I needed now was to earn money. Snivy's talent was at the top amongst its peers, and money was a must if I wanted to upgrade it. I didn't want to do this, but I guess I needed to do it to stay on top.

When was the last time I gave this much thought to the future? Being a poor trainer is never easy.
