Chapter 23: Chapter 22: Forgiveness
The prison visiting room was a stark contrast to the lavish surroundings Alexander was accustomed to. The cold, gray walls and the thick glass separating inmates from visitors created an atmosphere of isolation. Alexander sat on one side, his eyes reflecting the weight of his past decisions.
Isabel sat across from him, her expression a mixture of determination and compassion. "Why are you still here?" Alexander asked, his voice heavy with guilt and remorse. "After everything I've done, why haven't you given up on me?"
Isabel reached out, placing her hand on the glass between them. "Because I believe in you, Alexander," she said softly, her eyes locking onto his. "I know you can change. Your past doesn't have to define your future."
Alexander's heart swelled with gratitude and hope. Isabel's unwavering support was the anchor he needed. "Thank you, Isabel," he whispered, his voice filled with emotion. "I won't let you down."
