Chapter 60: Come back to me

The decision had been made: I would go to the eastern province to address the escalating problems there. Although Seraphina was vehemently opposed to my going alone, she understood the council's decision and the need for me to prove myself to the demon realm.

The morning after the council meeting, I found myself in our chambers, nervously preparing for the journey. The room was a whirlwind of activity, servants bustling about, packing supplies and clothing into a sturdy leather trunk. Seraphina hovered nearby, her protective instincts in overdrive.

"Elara, are you sure about this?" Seraphina asked for what felt like the hundredth time, her eyes filled with concern as she watched me pack.

I turned to her, trying to muster as much confidence as I could. "Yes, Seraphina. I need to do this. For us, for the realm. And I won't be alone. There will be guards and advisors with me."
