After Uno was gone, I walked inside my bedroom and grabbed my phone, dialing Vernon’s number. I pressed the device to my ear after tapping on the call button and not so patiently waiting for him to pick up.

“Yo Ash!” he greeted cheerfully, which made me roll my eyes.

“Where are you? You said you’re gonna introduce me to your girl today?”

“I’m on my way there. See you in ten.”

I shrugged even though he couldn’t see me. “Yeah, whatever. Just be here an hour before my class started.” and I cut off the call, without even giving him the chance to reply.

I tied my hair up in a ponytail and walked out of my bedroom, but not before sending a last glance at the messy heap of cream-colored sheets of my bed. I shook my head and walked back towards my closet pulling a clean blue sheets and quickly changed it.

After I was done, I made my way in the kitchen and was about to open the fridge when I slipped from the spilled water on the floor, hitting my back with a loud thud. “Fuck!”
