Chapter 12: The Life of Rias Gremory .
On 9th April , the gremory household witnessed a miracle. The birth of Rias Gremory. From the moment she was born the couple could feel she was meant to be something great. She would be a queen among the supernatural. That was what the fortune teller had told them.
Zeoticus was happy and ecstatic. A child of greater potential than her brother.
" Good , grow my child and show us your true power " He bellowed.
*** 6 years later *****
The clouds were gloomy . Young Rias looked to the ground , her hair covering her eyes as tears threatened to fall. Besides her was a wooden sword . Her attire was tattered and she was full of bruises.
In front of her standing menacingly was her father. His arms were crossed as he breathed heavily and angrily .
What was this ? The child destined to be the queen of the supernaturals ? What a joke . She was nothing !! She had no talent , no drive no anything . The only worth while talent she had was the power of destruction she had inherited from their mother yet ... Yet it was so pathetic.
" You are without a doubt a great disappointment to the Gremory household " And with that he walked away leaving Rias there. The gloomy clouds finally gave in as tears streamed down her face . It seemed the underworld cried with her that day.
Venelana however did not leave her daughter's side . What kind of mother would she be if she did that ?
" Don't worry . Your father still loves you . It's just that he is a little bit umm complicated. " Venelana would always tell Rias trying to cheer her up to which Rias would respond with a facade to let her mother worry less.
But she knew better . She had overheard the conversations between their parents . How her mother would always defend her in front of her father to which he would brutally protest or respond with physical abuse. This left Rias sadder than ever. Her only source of hope was constantly abused. How could she change this ?
She went to Sirzechs for help and she was thoroughly disappointed in him.
" That is their own life I have no purpose of interjecting however you my dear sister can. " Sirzechs said to the 8 year old Rias .
At that time she quickly agreed unaware of the inner plans of Sirzechs. Sirzechs helped her build peerages by finding the perfect targets for her. He also further spoiled so that one day when she was completely dependant on him , he could exert his will.
Years passed by and Rias slowly forgot her horrible life under the help and ' love ' from her brother but soon something happened. A marriage proposal unlike any other.
Zeoticus had arranged for Rias to be married to Riser Phenex . Her mother had protested and so had she . How could she marry such a disgusting pervert . She and her mother alike saw the fury of Zeoticus that day.
" You ungrateful little swine. All you do is eat and enjoy every fucking priviledges without actually doing anything but when I give you the chance you spit on it ? You will accept this marriage proposal and you will behave like a respectable wife " The only thing that could be heard that day was the man's harsh remarks , sounds beatings and whimpers.
Rias learnt that day that she was indeed a nobody there. The only thing she could do was comply . Her father was right , she hadn't contributed anything to the family . She was about to give up when her brother appeared once again like prince charming to her rescue.
" What is bothering you ?" He had asked as if unaware.
Rias lowered her gaze.
" Father wants to marry me to Riser Phenex " She had said .
" But you don't want to " Sirzechs said.
" But it is my duty as ..... "
" I can help you " Sirzechs had said.
To Rias that seemed like her brother really cared for her but that was a lie . He knew clearly Zeoticus wanted the marriage for two reasons only , money and Millicas to become the next heir rather than what he thought was a disappointment. Sirzechs however did not want his son to experience the wrath of a mad man .
However that wasn't the main reason . The main reason was because he wanted peace and in order to achieve peace Rias was needed.
" How "
" When I visited your school , I couldn't help but notice a young man by the name Issei Hyoudou had a sacred gear . How about you recruit him then you can use your peerage to ask Riser for a rating game where you will win with my help.
Rias was excited and thanked her brother a lot but she was disappointed to say the least with what she observed. However her brother had carefully cultivated a reliance on him in Rias so she gambled with it and acquired Issei.
Best of all he was longinius user and not of just any but of the red dragon emperor. Rias was naturally excited but that excitement quickly faded as Issei begun talking about harem king and boobs. It disgusted Rias and she went to Sirzechs for help.
" That is your token of salvation Rias , can't you understand that ?" Sirzechs had reprimanded her.
" From now you are to seduce him with everything you have got . And when you have finally succeeded the prophecy will be fulfilled as you will become his queen and he shall be the king of the supernaturals !! " Sirzechs had said with near cult like obsession.
" What ? But I don't w.... "
Sirzechs put a hand on Rias shoulder as his eyes turned cold.
" You will do everything I say . This is the price of not marrying Riser "
Rias world shattered as she finally got the final pieces to the clue. Sirzechs was manipulating him from the very beginning !!! She was powerless yet again , being used by other people. The only thing left was to agree and follow Sirzechs order . She was after all a weakling who couldn't escape her fate.
Then she met Isamu . She had originally met and wanted to recruit him solely because of Akeno's sake. He seemed like a pretty boring and normal person but why ?
Why could she not get him out of his head , his resilience , his attitude of facing things as they are and ...
" If it is something requiring strength how about you come and live with me . That way you could get me too by becoming my girlfriend " Isamu shamelessly said to her a few hours ago.
Those words . They were corny and delivered horribly but yet they brought her solace , hope. Hearing Isamu confidently proclaim this made her believe in him and this was what she was doing .
She looked up to Isamu's door as she raised her hand and rang on the bell.
This would prove to be her worst yet best choice she ever made in her life. A journey full of laughter and joy , a journey full of pain and sadness , a journey full of love and hate , a journey full of sacrifice , a journey known as life.
