Chapter 142: Brink of defeat
Lyra closed her eyes, bracing herself for the final blow. She had fought with everything she had, but Aurora's power was too great. As the ice spear descended, Lyra's thoughts turned to her friends and the life she had fought so hard to protect.
Suddenly, a bright green portal emerged in front of Lyra, shattering the ice spear that threatened her life. Elias, his hair grown longer, emerged from the portal, wielding his signature wooden blade and crossbow. Beside him stood a man with brown hair and a green tunic, and another with sleek glasses.
"Look, we got here just in time to save the princess," the man in the green tunic said, a grin on his face.
"Lyra, are you okay?" Elias shouted, his voice filled with concern.
The man with the glasses stepped forward. "I'll handle Aurora," he said, sending a barrage of sharp glass shards towards the ice vampire.
Aurora countered with her own ice shards, and the two engaged in a fierce battle. Amidst the chaos, Elias explained, "I've traveled far, Lyra. All the way to Arcadia. I enlisted the help of the Kingdom of Solaris. They sent some knights with us to help free you."
The man with the glasses turned back, a smile on his face. "It's nice to meet you, Lyra. My name is Silas. We're cousins - my father and your father are brothers."
Lyra's eyes widened in surprise. She had never known she had family on her father's side.
Kai summoned a portal to redirect an ice spear that was hurtling towards them. "Guys, this isn't the time to recap. We've got to get out of here," he urged. "And like I said, I can only make space-distance portals. We have to find our own way out!"
Lyra's mind raced, trying to process the sudden appearance of her friends and the revelation of her long-lost cousin. But she knew Kai was right. They needed to escape before Aurora overpowered them.
"I have a plan," Lyra said, her voice filled with determination. She reached into her pouch and pulled out a small, glowing vial. "This is a special potion I've been working on. It should temporarily nullify Darius shadow veil essence tehnciue giving us a chance to escape."
