As the Rollie Rollie twins worked diligently on creating Lyra's new outfit, Dante took the opportunity to discuss the information he had gathered about her allies. Lyra, eager to learn more, pestered Dante until he finally relented.
"Lyra, listen carefully," Dante began, his voice serious. "At Nascheten, my sister Sofia was intent on wiping out you and your friends. Unlike me, she was educated here in this mansion, and she doesn't value life the same way I do. I am truly sorry for the harm I caused you."
Lyra, using her essence technique, sensed the sincerity in Dante's words. She could feel the internal struggle he had faced during the confrontation at Nascheten. "I noticed you were fighting for me, Dante. I could sense it."
Dante nodded, acknowledging Lyra's observation. "You're right. I agreed to spare you, and after telling Sofia of your accomplishments, she reluctantly agreed. However, she was ready to end everyone else's lives without hesitation."
Lyra's heart sank at the thought of her friends being in such grave danger.
Dante continued, "I knew that if your allies were harmed, you would never agree to work with us. So, I had to pull a lot of strings to get them free."
A wave of relief washed over Lyra, but it was quickly replaced by confusion. "But Dante, how come they haven't contacted me or even tried to rescue me?"
Dante hesitated, his expression growing uneasy. "Lyra, there's something you need to know. We have a specialist Essence user who is known for his mind-altering abilities."
Lyra's eyes widened with worry. "What are you saying, Dante?"
"To guarantee their safety, it was the only way," Dante admitted. "We let them go, but not before wiping their minds of the events at Nascheten."
Lyra felt her world crumble around her. The realization that her friends had forgotten about her, that they had no idea she was being held captive, was too much to bear. "You altered their memories? I thought you said you didn't harm them!"
Dante tried to explain, "We didn't physically harm them, Lyra. We just erased their memories of that night."
But Lyra was too distraught to listen. The betrayal she felt was overwhelming. "You don't understand, Dante! These people, my friends, they forgot about me! They have no idea where I am or what happened to me!"
Dante reached out, trying to comfort her. "Lyra, I am so sorry. This was the only way to ensure their safety and yours."
But Lyra was beyond consolation. Her anger and pain boiled over, and she lashed out at everyone in the room. "Get out! All of you, just leave me alone!"
The Rollie Rollie twins, startled by Lyra's outburst, quickly gathered their materials and scurried out of the room. Dante, his heart heavy with guilt and regret, tried one last time to apologize. "Lyra, please, let me explain further."
But Lyra was having none of it. She turned her back to him, her voice trembling with rage and sorrow. "Leave, Dante. I can't bear to look at you right now."
With a heavy sigh, Dante respected her wishes and left the room, the door closing softly behind him.
Lyra, now alone, sank to the floor, her tears flowing freely. The weight of her situation, the loneliness, and the betrayal she felt crashed over her like a tidal wave. She had never felt so isolated, so utterly helpless in her life.
As she wept, Lyra's mind raced with thoughts of her friends, of the memories they had shared, and of the future she had once imagined for them. Now, everything had changed. Her friends had forgotten her, and she was trapped in a gilded cage, at the mercy of the very people she had once fought against.
