Chapter 107: Captured
Lyra's eyes fluttered open, her vision slowly adjusting to the dim light of the dungeon. She found herself shackled, the cold metal biting into her skin as she struggled to sit up. As she surveyed her surroundings, she noticed a few books scattered on the floor and a simple bed pushed against the wall of her cell.
Fear gripped her heart as the memories of the recent events came flooding back. The battle at the Nachtschatten, the overwhelming power of Sofia and Dante, the darkness that had consumed her and her friends - it all seemed like a distant nightmare, but the harsh reality of her captivity was impossible to ignore.
Time seemed to stretch on endlessly as Lyra sat in the oppressive silence of the dungeon, her mind racing with questions and worries about the fate of her companions. Just as despair began to take hold, the sound of footsteps echoed through the corridor, growing louder as they approached her cell.
A guard appeared before her, his face a mask of indifference. "Ah, I see you are awake, Mistress Lyra," he said, his voice devoid of emotion.
Lyra's eyes widened, her heart pounding in her chest as she lunged forward, straining against her shackles. "Where am I?" she demanded, her voice raw with fear and anger. "Where are my friends?"
The guard remained impassive, his gaze flickering briefly to the corridor behind him. "I apologize, Mistress, but I have been instructed by Master Dante to alert him of your awakening. I shall fetch him at once."
"No, wait!" Lyra cried out, desperation clawing at her throat. "You stay here and answer me!"
But the guard ignored her pleas, turning on his heel and scuttling away, leaving Lyra alone once more with nothing but her fears and the oppressive silence of the dungeon.
