Chapter 40: 40. The Mysterious Potion

Once they brought all the potions, Ithil and Zion headed to the market square fountain. Zion looked up at the carvings of a warrior holding a dragonhead spear above his head while standing over the fallen body of a wyvern.

Zion tilted his head at the statue before jumping up onto the nearest bench and sitting down on it. Ithil went and grabbed some bread rolls for them to eat.

After 20 minutes, the familiar pair of Aala and Sarah came over with giant smiles. Zion smiled seeing this, '"I assume those smiles mean you found something good each?"'

Sarah nodded and pulled out a sword. It was a slim-style broadsword that was a lovely bright and shiny silver; however Zion noticed the slight glow to its hilt where a green gem was embedded. As always, he appraised the weapon.

Item Ability: Wind Slash - Release a condensed slash made from the wind when striking with the sword.

Strength: Due to a magic core used during crafting, this weapon has a Wind Affinity.

"It's a magic weapon. It has a wind core and so it can use a special wind skill." Sarah grinned.

Zion gave a small nod, '"Although the magic attack is good, it's durability suffers. You'll need to end battles quickly and not argue with heavily armoured foes."'

Sarah nodded as she sheathed the sword, "Thought so."

Aala then pulled out her bow, "I was lucky. I managed to find a bow made by elves." She showed the beautifully crafted wooden long bow to Zion who analysed it.

Item Ability: Rapid Piercing Shot - Release 3 continuous arrows that will pierce through a target from rank C and below.

Strength: Due to the materials the bow is made from, an arrow shot from this bow has twice as much power then other long bows.

"This bow is made to pierce the light armour and hide of rank C creatures." Aala smiled at her bow.

Zion gave a nod, '"Also not bad, do you have the strength to wield it?"' He was a little worried about that since Aalas STG stat was only at 20.

She smiled and nodded, "Yeah I tested it before I brought it."

'"Alright, let's head back to the Academy."' They began the trek back. While walking Ithil could help but ask, "Zion, what was that yellow potion you wanted me to get? I didn't recognise it."

His words drew Sarah and Aalas attention, "A potion you don't recognise Ithil? Must be something intriguing." Aala giggled making Ithil blush faintly.

In the two years since they had been at the Academy, Ithil was at the top of the class when it came to the alchemy classes. Sarah was one of the top 3 in the combat classes while Aala, funnily enough was the top of the healing class, able to cast healing spells a lot stronger then many others.

Zion smiled, '"I'll show you all when we get back. Come on."' He replied, leaving all of them even more curious about what it was.

They all reached Sarah's room after a hour and sat around, looking at the strange yellow potion in front of Zion.

Zion just chuckled, '"Alright. You all know my analysis spell? Due to my evolution to an All-Seeing Fox?"' He asked. That had been the excuse he used for his analysis skills, due to him always being able to tell the weaknesses of a beast so they had asked about it after the 3rd beast fight.

They all nodded their heads like pecking chickens, '"Well I used it on this potion. It's information was... special but only if used on a beast."' He looked at the potion and Anaylsed it once again.

Buff 1: 20% Increase to strength and 25% increase to agility for 3 hours.

Buff 2: Permanent increase of 20% to consumers magic affinity.

Special Buff: High chance of unlocking second magical affinity.]]

That was the main part of the potion information however, there was another part that was only referring to how the potion affected him. Due to the system, it shows both effects of the potion on normal people and beasts of the world, and himself.

Buff 2: Gives the host an increase of 25% Fire Magic Affinity.

Special Buff: Gives the host an increase of 30% Space Magic Affinity.]]

He then focused back on the group, '"This potion, its strength is when it's consumed by a beast, there is a chance to unlock a magical affinity. But it's weakness is the affinity would be low, meaning it would take a lot to strengthen it. It also might only awaken when I evolve again. I don't know exactly."'

He had decided to explain it this way. He had told them his analysis spell allowed him to see the name, rank, strength and weakness of whatever he used it on, so he believed they wouldn't question it.

All of them widened their eyes hearing that and Aala giggled excitedly, "Wow, you're so lucky Zion! That's a perfect potion for you. You're already really strong. Imagine if you got an affinity!" She clapped her hands.

Ithil gave a nod, "It would definitely be cool. Being able to physically attack or throw spells from a distance." He smiled faintly.

Sarah smiled ear to ear, "What are you waiting for? Drink it!" She hurriedly popped open the top and held the potion out to him.

Zion just laughed softly to himself as he lightly bit the neck of the bottle, then tipped his head back, letting the contents go straight down his throat.

If there's any questions go ahead and ask. It took a bit to figure out how to show that potion lol. The idea is that due to how he obtained affinities, the potion would work differently on him. instead of directly unlocking one, it increases the percentage of 3 due to the potion being made from parts of 3 elemental beasts. Hope it worked and people understood what I was trying to get at lol.
