Chapter 1: Meeting a Goddess
Kazuma was a hard-working engineer who loved designing buildings. It was a fine morning after a gentle morning rain. He was standing on top of a tall building that was still under construction. He was reviewing the plan of the building after keeping an eye on all the construction work going on around him. He was going around and looking at the columns under construction. The floor he was standing on was slippery. For a better view, he stood at the edge of the floor. He was making sure that all the columns in the row were in the same line of sight. His seriousness in his work has caused him to forget where he was standing. After confirming their alignment, he stepped forward without thinking. He slipped and fell backward. It was at this moment that he knew he was done for.
He fell from that tall building. He hit his head on the ground. The blood starts coming out of his head. The workers started crowding around him. The papers he was holding danced slowly down to the ground. His body was emotionless, calm, and peaceful. His vision dimmed. The light entering his eyes slowly faded away. The voice around him dimmed. He can't smell anything at all. He feels like he has been pulled into a dark tunnel. At the end of it, he could see a bright light. He reached the end of the tunnel. The brightness of the light was so high that he couldn't see anything at all.

Kazuma was lying on the ground. He slowly opened his eyes and looked around. He found himself in a room with very little light. The walls were dark. He looked around with wonder to see a woman sitting on a chair. He was taken aback. She was looking just at him with a small smile on her face. She was wearing a blue dress with a short skirt. Two lamps of fire stood beside her chair. The fire in that lamb illuminated her face.
Kazuma: "Where am I?"
A blue-haired girl sitting on a king-class chair "Hello, otherworldly, nice to meet you?"
Kazuma was shocked to see her. "Who are you?"
That girl said, "I am Aqua, the Goddess of Water."
Kazuma was shocked to hear that "a goddess... Wait a minute, does that mean...?"
Aqua "Yeah, you guessed right, you died."
Kazuma let out a sigh and looked at his own body. "So what now? Are you going to judge me or something?"
Aqua "You got it wrong. Kazuma-san, I summoned you to this world. You are in my world now."
Kazuma: "Oh, I see..."
Aqua "So let me come to the topic, Kazuma-san. I want you to defeat the demon king that causes trouble in this world."
Kazuma "Huh, demon lord, you should have summoned some warriors or something; I am an engineer, you know."
Aqua: "Yes, you were, but not anymore."
Kazuma "But you know I have the skill, or anything like that, to take on this demon king."
Aqua: "Oh, don't worry about it; I can give you one."
Kazuma "But still, are you sure that I am the one you seek?"
Aqua: "I am damn sure."
Aqua requested that he take on this role. Kazuma had no other choice but to accept her request. Aqua was delighted to know that. Aqua then asked him which skill he wanted. Kazuma thought for a while and told her that he wanted a sword skill. She granted that skill to him. His body was illuminating. He can feel something going on in his body. He looked at his hands. Aqua then revealed that he had gained the skill of a swordsman. She informed him that she was going to teleport him to the world he needed to protect. Kazuma complained that he didn't know much about this world. Aqua told him that it would be okay.
She cast the teleportation magic. Kazuma was pulled upward. Just like when he came, he was teleported to a new world. When he woke up, he was lying on the floor. He stood up to find himself between two buildings. It was a fine morning; the sun was still rising. There was no change in his appearance. He stood up and walked forward. The alley led him to a marketplace. He was shocked to see the new world. There were so many people selling fruits and commodities in the shop. The street is filled with people of different races. They include humans, beastmen, etc. He couldn't believe that he was in another world. He didn't know what to do next. Just then, he happened to see an adventurer in his armor and swords.
It was just like in those storybooks. Just then, he decided to begin his journey as an adventurer. Suddenly, he is concerned about the language they speak. He walked forward and started listening to what those shopkeepers were saying. He learned that they were speaking his mother tongue. This made things easy for him. He walked around to see the things in this new world. Just as he was passing by the empty road, he was stopped by a call from a young lady. She asked Kazuma to help her grandfather move the loads into the kitchen. She and her grandfather were running a hotel in this world. Kazuma agreed to help. He followed Grandpa's instructions and carried the things into the kitchen. The kitchen was old-style. He understood that the development around this world is minimal.
After helping them, Kazuma was about to leave. Then they asked for his name. He revealed his name. They called it a strange name. They offered him some money for what he had done for them. Kazuma thanked them. He asked them about the Adventurer Guild. They showed him the way to the guild. Kazuma went in that direction. He was curious about what money looked like in this world. He opened the small pouch to see some coins made of copper. He didn't know how much it was actually. Then he arrived at the guild. He recognized it by reading the board.
Upon entering the guild,
The receptionist girl "Welcome to the guild of Axel, sir."
Kazuma " Ah... Hello, I am Kazuma. Is this the place where I can register to become an adventurer?"
receptionist girl "Yes, sir, you came to the right place. So shall I register your name here?"
Kazuma "Amm, sure, by the way, what should I call you?"
Receptionist girl "Oh, sorry, I forgot. My name is Luna, and I am the receptionist in this guild."
Kazuma "Oh, nice to meet you, Luna."
The money he received from the girl was used to pay for his registration. To determine his status, he had to touch his guild card. However, Kazuma discovered that his skill was swordsmanship. As he was new to the town, Luna advised him to go around and familiarize himself with the town. As he was exploring the town, Kazuma thought of a place to stay. Kazuma noticed a job posting for waitresses and waiters on the city notice board. He picked up the notice and decided to give it a try. He asked some random people to show him the way. When he finally found the hotel, he was surprised that the hotel belonged to the girl he had previously helped.
He showed them the notice. They were more than happy to take him on the job. He agreed to work at the hotel in exchange for food and accommodation. He had to work the whole day but was free at night. He planned to work during the day and have adventures at night. The first day was tiring, so he decided to take it easy. At night, Kazuma went to the guild to inquire about the monsters that were usually seen around. He ended up learning more about the demon lord as well. Instead of taking it easy, Kazuma took these matters seriously. He wondered how he was going to accomplish what he needed to do.
In the past, the old man (the owner's grandfather) was an adventurer. He gave Kazuma his sword and shield since he knew Kazuma would make better use of them. The following day, after completing his daily chores, Kazuma set out on a quest to gather some healing herbs from the green lands outside the city. He went to collect the herbs at night. While he was collecting herbs, he came across a large frog monster that attacked him. He was frightened by its size. But still, he decided to check his skills.
His attack was blocked by its tongue. "Ohh, sh*t," it started chasing him.
Kazuma ran away. "Don't chase me... getaway... DAMN YOUUUU..."
With the help of his equipment and information, he was able to kill the monster after a lot of dodging, running, and slashing.
Kazuma is trying to catch his breath. "Oh man, that was a close one."
When he returned home, he looked exhausted and worn out. The next morning, while working in the hotel, he thought of recruiting someone and making a team.
