Chapter 256: How are you not scared

Chloe and I had barely survived the last round of horror movies, but by the time we finally dragged ourselves upstairs, I was still on edge. My heart was racing, and I couldn't shake the eerie feeling that had settled deep in my bones.

Despite the pranks, Chloe's parents had really gotten to me. Every little creak in the house made my imagination run wild.

Chloe yawned as we stepped into her enormous bedroom, already looking half-asleep. She kicked off her slippers and collapsed onto her bed with a dramatic sigh. "I am exhausted," she muttered, pulling the blankets around her like a protective cocoon.

I stood awkwardly in the middle of the room, clutching my phone, still jittery from the movie marathon. "How are you not scared after all of that?" I asked, incredulous.
