Chapter 156: What is it this time

As I sat across from Elena at the dinner table, I couldn't help but smile. The events of the day seemed to fade away in the warm glow of her presence. Our dinner was simple, but it was perfect because it was just the two of us.

The laughter we shared over small jokes and the occasional brushing of our fingers as we reached for our glasses filled me with a contentment I hadn't felt in a long time.

After dinner, we headed to the bedroom. Elena was radiant, her eyes sparkling with a mix of amusement and warmth. The anticipation in the air was palpable as we undressed and climbed into bed. 

"You're amazing, you know that?" I murmured, tracing a finger along her jawline.

Elena smiled, a blush coloring her cheeks. "You're not so bad yourself."
