Chapter 36: The Calm Before the Storm

The first light of dawn broke over the horizon, casting long shadows across the village. The alarm sounded, echoing through the castle walls and jolting everyone into action. I quickly donned my armor and strapped my sword to my side, my heart pounding with a mix of fear and determination.

I made my way to the courtyard, where the troops were already assembling. Lilith stood at the front, her eyes scanning the horizon for any signs of movement. Baelgor was barking orders, his voice carrying over the din as the soldiers hurried to their positions.

"Emily!" Morgana called out as she approached, her staff glowing with a faint, protective light. "We've detected movement at the northern border. It looks like they're coming."

I nodded, taking a deep breath. "Everyone, prepare yourselves. This is it. We'll defend our home with everything we have."
