Chapter 113: : "A Painful Awakening"

"A Painful Awakening"

Larry groggily opened his eyes, his body screaming in agony. He struggled to sit up, his muscles protesting every movement. Lady Zephyr, the King of Wind Djin, stood before him, her expression stern.

"You know, the way you summoned me was wrong and forbidden, right?" she said, her voice firm but amused. "If it were any of the other elements' kings, they would have killed you. You know that, right?"

Larry smirked, "Yeah, but that didn't happen, did it?" He received a swift hit from Lady Zephyr, and he winced in pain. "Argh, that hurt!"

Lady Zephyr turned around, a hint of a smile on her face. "That final move was really good, I'll give you that. I'm surprised you were able to create a move like that. But I guess I'm contracted to you until you die, so you'd better entertain me." With that, she vanished, leaving Larry to ponder his situation.

He looked over at Crasher's body and nodded in respect. "Thanks for the good fight, Crasher. You were a worthy opponent." He picked up Crasher's head and placed it in a bag, proof of his completed mission. Now, he just had to collect his reward and hope that Lady Zephyr's contract wouldn't be too much of a burden.

Larry strode into the mercenary guild, Crasher's head held high. The room fell silent as guild members stared in disbelief, their eyes fixed on the gruesome trophy. The clerk at the counter looked up, shock etched on his face.

"L-Larry...you did it. You actually did it."

A week later, Larry's demeanor had changed. His eyes burned with an intense ferocity, his smile twisted into a snarl. He wreaked havoc in the guild, his sword slicing through the air with reckless abandon. His friends approached him, concern etched on their faces.

"Larry, stop! What's gotten into you?"

But Larry wouldn't listen. "I need to get stronger! I need to get revenge!"

Reinhardt Pendragon appeared, his eyes stern. "Larry, you need to stop. You're going down a dangerous path."

Larry's response was a snarl. "You don't understand! Stay out of my way, or I'll kill you!"

Reinhardt sighed, his voice firm. "I can't let you continue down this path, Larry. I promised Diego I'd look out for you, despite our past differences. I need to stop you, for your own good."

The battle raged on, Larry's winds howling as he unleashed a devastating attack on Reinhardt. But just as the gust was about to strike, it dissipated, leaving Larry stunned and surprised.

Reinhardt reminded him, "You forget, Larry, I have the blessing of the God of Heaven. Your wind attacks won't work on me!"

Undeterred, Larry tried to use his speed and Shinsei Style to land a hit on Reinhardt. He unleashed a flurry of invisible slashes, slices, and dices, but Reinhardt blocked each one with his shield. The Pendragon heir pushed Larry back, his family sword shining with an intense light.

Reinhardt unleashed his ultimate strike, holding his sword upward as the power of the God of Heaven surged around him. With a mighty cry, he brought the sword down, unleashing a torrent of energy that destroyed Larry's sword and sent him crashing to the ground.

Larry lay there, defeated, his vision fading to black. Reinhardt stood over him, his chest heaving with exhaustion. "It's over, Larry. Your rage and anger consumed you. But I won't let that happen again."

And with that, the fight came to an end, Reinhardt emerging victorious, his blessing from the God of Heaven proving too powerful for Larry to overcome.

Larry's eyes fluttered open, his vision blurry. He was met with the sight of Reinhardt sitting beside him, his expression soft with concern.

"Hey, Larry. You're awake," Reinhardt said, his voice gentle.

Larry's mind raced as memories of the battle came flooding back. He tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through his shoulder, forcing him back onto the bed.

Reinhardt placed a hand on his chest, holding him down. "Easy, Larry. You're not going anywhere just yet."

Larry's gaze locked onto Reinhardt's, his eyes welling up with tears. "Reinhardt...I'm sorry. I was so blinded by my rage and anger..."

Reinhardt's expression softened further. "I know, Larry. I understand what happened that day when Lana, your wife, died by Abel's hand. I know you focused on revenge, but don't forget you have friends who want to help you. Don't shoulder the whole pain by yourself. Trust us."

Reinhardt's words struck a chord in Larry's heart. He felt a dam break, and his emotions poured out in a torrent of tears. Reinhardt sat with him, his presence comforting, as Larry released all the pain and anguish he had been carrying.

Finally, Larry's tears subsided, and he looked up at Reinhardt with a newfound sense of determination. "Thanks, Reinhardt. I'll change. I'll be better."

Reinhardt smiled, his eyes warm with approval. "That's all anyone can ask for, Larry."

The room fell silent, the only sound Larry's ragged breathing. But as he looked around at his friends - Kai, Zach, G, Derek, Scarlet, and his nephew Ace - he knew he wasn't alone. They had listened to his story, and they understood his pain.

From that day forward, Larry began to heal, his heart slowly mending with the help of his friends. He learned to trust again, to lean on others when he needed support. And though the scars of his past would always remain, he knew he was no longer alone in his struggles.
