Back To Patrol

I met Stussy as I was leaving my room within the ship. She seemed to be exhausted from all the partying that was currently happening on the island. However, she didn't like the fact that I was currently covered in blood.

She promptly made me wash my face and change clothes. Now I was currently wearing a purple and gold highlighted tropical shirt with open buttons. I replaced my trousers with some shorts and was currently wearing sandals. If a stranger looked at me, they would think that I was on a vacation coming into the island.

I promptly made my way back to the Moby Dick, a new bottle of wine in one hand, and Stussy on the other. She had been awfully clingy ever since we had left the island for training, but it's not like I really cared about that to be honest.

Whitebeard remained sitting on his comfortable couch on the deck. He was still drinking when I came up to him. The rest of the crew continued drinking, ignoring my approach save for the division commanders.

"Brat! Are you already planning to leave? We just started this party for you?" Whitebeard boomed.

"Yes, I haven't been patrolling for two years, it's about time I got back to it," I responded politely.

"Hm? Grandline? That's interesting, do you want to tell me what is so interesting that it had caught your interest?" Whitebeard's eyes flashed with amusement as he asked.

"Not yet, it will be easier for me to show you, rather than tell you about it." I replied.

Whitebeard normally wasn't one to go through the trouble of patrolling his territory, he normally would respond to major incidents, like the World Nobles incident. It didn't matter anyway if he did, he relied on me to do that. It was only fair that I decided to take that job seriously.

We kept on drinking for a little while longer when Toki emerged from the hull. Momonosuke was sleeping in her arms, Oden could only smile as he saw this. I looked on with indifference, I would soon be leaving the island to resume patrol.

I finished my drink and promptly got back on my ship to get ready to sail. Looking at the pirates that were directly under Whitebeard's command, I could sense that they had gotten stronger over the last few years that we had hadn't met. That was good news, after all, they needed to be strong before the war could happen.

Ken and the rest of the crew promptly entered the ship and began making preparations to set sail. This time, instead of getting closer and closer to the grandline, I was going to visit the territories that were farthest from it. This was normally where conflict had often prevailed as there were numerous factions continuing to fight over territory.

Whitebeard, on the other hand, had long established his protection over the various islands that were there. As a result, they rarely experienced any raids from other pirates because of the fear being put on his name. It was very effective to say the least, moreover, I could make a quick stop at Wano. Just to see if anything had changed drastically since Oden had left with Whitebeard.

It was the bit of exploring that I really wanted to do while I was in the New World. I would soon explore the grandline after the establishment of the Four Emporers. Since that title would establish a sense of fear towards the pirates that were currently racing over to the New World.

Twighlight was slowly approaching the island. Deciding that it wouldn't be wise to sail at night, I decided to let the crew stay for the night with Whitebeard's camp. The pirates under his command did what they do best: Party. The only thing that the Whitebeard Pirates were truly lacking was a decent musician.

The pirates that were currently performing were absolutely attrocious. Not that I could have done any better to begin with. The performance played on deep into the night until everyone, including the performers, were passed out on the ground. The only ones who were awake at that time were me and Teach, who never really slept.

Stussy was lying on my lap sleeping as I stared on to the darkness of the night. I wasn't really feeling as fatigued as I normally would so staying up and watching camp wasn't going to be a bad idea.

Teach on the other hand, was currently standing by the shore with his arms closed while staring at the sea. He seemed to be wanting to be on t eh lookout for enemy pirates. Not that I cared much, I had countless bottles of wine nearby so I was pretty comfortable just drinking till morning. I could finally enjoy some peace and quiet till morning, or so I had thought.

Teach timidly walked up to me while I was drinking.

"Can...can I sit next to you?" Teach asked.

"Do as you please." I responded.

The boy sat next to me and stared up into the sky as I kept drinking. We continued to enjoy the silent atmosphere for a while before he asked me a question.

"Do you have a dream?" Teach asked.

I thought about his question for a bit before responding.

"Sort of, I can't necessarily call it a dream." I said.

"What about you, what is your dream?" I asked him.

"I want to be a king, a king that is known and feared by all" Teach said without an inch of hesitation.

I stopped drinking for a bit to look at Teach, who was currently looking at the sky with the same stoic expression that he always had.

"Even if you died?" I asked, I had to do my best not to let my killing intent leak.

Teach chuckled for a bit before turning to look at me and saying.

"Don't you know? Dreams never die, a person may die trying to pursue their dreams. However, that dream will live on to someone else!"

I looked at his eyes for a bit after he said that. There were a lot of theories out there in the One Piece Fandom about Blackbeard, or Marshall D. Teach, having multiple personalities because he had three souls within his body. I was slowly starting to believe that.

His eyes, which were ever so stoic, shone with a mad glint within them. His ferocious expression almost reminded me of my former captain, Rocks D. Xebec. I didn't feel fear looking at him though, I only felt like killing him.

I could only take another swig of my drink and continue staring at the stars. Teach was too late to be saved. If I had any thoughts on my mind that I should try and save him from himself, that thought was now dead. We continued on in silence until, in the distance, I could see the sun slowly rise in the horizon. Morning had come, and it was time for me to leave this island.
