Chapter 54: The History Of The World

After making sure everyone had lowered their guard. Olvia took us within the deck of the ship for a cup of tea. I was initially curious about what she had found within those poneglyphs.

She decided to take us within the ship to explain to us the results of her findings. While we were within the ship, I could see tons upon tons of paperwork, within the main meeting room of the ship. A large table with a map on it could be seen resting in the middle of the room.

We all sat down as one of the members of the ship came in with a large tray containing three white glass cups, a teapot, and some sugar and utensils. He set the tray on the small portion of the table where the map wasn't covering before pouring out our drinks and handing them to us. I took a small sip of my tea, enjoying its contents before listening to what Olvia had to say.

"According to our research, the poneglyphs have always been the closest thing that could depict as to what had happened during the Void Century. They are these huge rocks located everywhere within the world. Some of them are located in places we thought of as myth like Skypiea." Olvia began.

Stussy was also enjoying her tea, but she listened keenly on what Olvia had to say.

"So far, we had managed to find two poneglyphs within our voyage. One within the New World, and another within the grandline. Each of those poneglyphs tell a story about weapons of mass destruction." Olvia continued, "They went on to proclaim that these weapons had the power to destroy islands, nations and even the world."

The room remained silent as Olvia pulled out several pictures and notes of the Poneglyphs. Olvia looked as if she was in the zone while she continued to recall her findings and her research.

"That wasn't all, the story continues on to tell that these weapons were so coveted that it had started a war. Now, it doesn't tell us which factions participated within the war, it only tells us that a war had to be fought in order to gain possesions of these two weapons." She went on.

Stussy immediately stopped her and asked with a serious gaze, "Do you know the names of these two weapons?" Olvia nodded replying, "Yes, these weapons are known as Pluton, and Uranus. What's frustrating is that we were never given a distinct idea as to what exactly these weapons are. However, we can only find out more by finding more poneglyphs and deciphering them."

I looked at the map with a cold glare as my mind raced. 'So these are two of the three ancient weapons, although I had stayed strictly watching the anime. My interest did sort of peak when it came to what had happened in the Void Century. There was a whole story that wasn't being told in the anime. So I decided to look through the internet to find something; anything' I reminisced to myself.

I didn't find much, or so I tried to remember, I could only remember that Shirahoshi; the future princess of the Ryugu Kingdom, would inherit it. However, if I had remembered correctly, it was information like this that led to the Buster Call of Ohara. 'Why is she giving us Taboo information?' I asked myself. I felt that I had an answer, but I wanted to hear it from her.

"That's intresting and all, but why are you telling us this so comfortably? You do know that we're pirates, right?" I asked Olvia. She shrugged before leaning back and taking another sip of her tea.

"I'm only asking for permission to go through your territory unscathed. I heard about your skirmish with the World Government. I don't want to end up having to fight a losing war." She replied after some time. It made sense when I thought about it, a rather large portion of the New World was territory of the Whitebeard Pirates. It took me months just to complete one rotation, and it wasn't getting smaller anytime soon.

"Fair enough, I'll let them know to be on the lookout for you then. You can continue explaining your findings." I responded. I wanted to hear what more she knew at this point of time, Ohara wouldn't be bombed till after the death of Roger.

However, the fact that Whitebeard had already met Oden; the Marines were already beginning to target Olvia and the short and suttle announcement of the Roger Pirate's second voyage a couple of days back indicated that soon : The Golden Age of Pirating was on the horizon. This also meant that Roger was probably sick and the World Government was beginning to see him more of a threat as days past.

"Ok" Olvia responded, "Now there are a lot of theories that the Void Century had produced, even we archeologists have our own theories of what transpired during this time. Would you like to hear it?"

"Sure, I'm always willing to listen to a good story," I encouraged. Whether she knew it or not, Nico Olvia had always been the closest individual to knowing the truth about what had really happened back in those times. I didn't need research to see that, all her explainations were backed with logical and conclusive evidence.

Matter of fact, even the most stretched of her details can be traced back to some brief glimpses within the two Poneglyphs. It was truly marvelous what she had been doing.

"We believe that the World Government may have partially, or Wholly been involved with the war. That's probably the reason they made the searching and deciphering of the Poneglyphs Taboo. Moreover, we also believe that they may have one of these two weapons in their possesion." Olvia stated, "A system that has been well-working for over 700 years doesn't normally stay clean and righteous for that long: They are hiding something."

More silence continued to dominate the air after she spoke. 'I mean, is she wrong though?' I had asked myself. Many government organizations had skeletons in their own closets, skeletons that should the world come to find out: devastating consequences would follow promptly.

It wasn't wrong to assume that the World Government held some information and power from ancient times locked up deep in Mariejois for it to never see the light of day unless absolutely necessary. Nico Olvia was telling a truth: however, this truth would remain unconfirmed as nobody had ever reached that deep into Mariejois and came out alive.

"Moreover, I believe that there had been someone who wanted to either resist, or was with the World Government during the war. It can't be confirmed, but there are brief instances of the word 'Joy Boy' being etched at the edges of both Poneglyphs." Olvia stated, "Whether this was the person or not: We don't know. However, it could be something completely different."

This kind of conversation went on till sunset, Olvia didn't know for a fact the exact story behind the Void Century, but I could tell that she was getting somewhere.

When we were about to leave, I slowly took out a piece of life paper and a snail transponder number written on it. I had a little bit made before I started my voyage a while back. I knew that stopping the World Governments coverups would lead to a war. I couldn't interfere with that, not when I have people that I need to look after.

I decided to give this paper and transponder number to Olvia. Before I did, I told her.

"You can use this number to call me should you run into some of Whitebeard's men. Keep this paper incase you need help, and I mean any help. As a gift of your knowledge, I will let you get one favor out of me. It won't matter what." I solemnly promised her.

She looked at the paper in shock before her gazed flashed with determination, "In that case, will you look after my daughter? She's nothing but an infant at this time. I fear that they'll get to me soon. Please, take care of my daughter." Olvia begged.

I could tell she was serious looking at the tears of her eyes. I kept my mouth shut and nodded before leaving the ship. At least she was somewhat aware of how she would die. I did feel bad however, but there was nothing I could do except to keep going.
