Chapter 15: Heist 3

Obviously, the guards of the auction house had no intention of listening to him.

Even an idiot would know if they were caught here it would be the end of their life.

The amphitheater exploded with noise as attendees started trying to escape.

...But we had planned for that.

Dozens of inquisitors stormed into the room and began chasing the attendees out to the west wing of the building, where more inquisitors would be waiting.

Ragan quickly cut down the guards, their strength completely incomparable to his.

Cutting through fireballs and dodging lightning zaps was no issue for him.

"Kid, let's get his lord's blood!"

I nodded to him and immediately made a run for the blood.

The auctioneer immediately unlocked the display cabinet the blood was stored in, and looked as if he would run away.

"Blind!"

I threw a ball of light at him, exploding in front of his face and leaving him staggered and confused.

He seemed to have no actual strength to protect himself, so I thought taking the blood would be easy enough.

But it seems things weren't going to go to plan.

"...Honestly, I didn't expect that the Church would step in here."

I looked up to see a hooded man floating in the air, held up by wind magic.

'This... must be the arch mage in attendance.'

"But still... it's not bad, at least this way I don't have to waste my money."

He held out his palm midair towards the auctioneer.

"Incinerate."

"Huh-Ah-AGHH!"

A raging blue flame devoured the auctioneer in a matter of seconds, and the vial of blood was stopped from dropping to the floor by a small platform of wind magic.

The vial quickly floated into his hands, and he was about to escape.

"Ragan! He's getting away with the blood! Shit!"

I shouted at the commander, seeing that he was running towards the floating mage.

"Hurricane Push."

A mighty blast of wind was aimed towards the ceiling, completely blasting a portion of it away.

Ragan was not going to catch up in time.

'Shit!'

[Joker's Ace!]

I activated my new ability whilst targeting the mage.

[21/42 Confusion Stacks]

My strength massively increased and the mage became disorientated.

"What...on ear-!?"

He fell to the floor, unable to maintain the wind magic that allowed him to fly.

Ragan raised his golden aura blade in the air, ready to cut the mage in half.

At the same time, I rushed at the mage with my boosted strength.

"..Ugh...Earth Wall."

The mage groaned and raised 2 medium sized earth walls from the ground.

I was stopped in my tracks, but Ragan immediately burst through the wall, cutting the side of the Mage.

[Joker's Ace has ended.]

The entire auditorium was in complete chaos, the night sky's moonlight entering the room from the hole the mage blasted earlier.

I lost my strength, and found myself unable to help Ragan.

[Confuse!]

It wasn't much, but it would at least disorientate the mage slightly.

The mage was back on his feet, floating with wind magic once more.

"...Yeah, things can never go easily for an old man like myself, can they?"

The mage spoke to himself with a sarcastic tone whilst staring at Ragan.

Ragan wasted no time speaking, instead drawing his sword backwards behind him.

"Flying Slash!"

A golden wave of energy was emitted from his blade, shooting straight towards the mage.

"Inferno Sword."

A massive blue magic circle appeared in the mage's hand, before letting out a giant sword of flame, clashing with Ragan's slash.

Boom!

Both attacks cancelled each other, causing a large explosion.

'Shit! There has to be something more I can do!'

I was discontent watching Ragan risk his life as I was unable to do anything of use.

"Kid! Just stay back! I can take him!"

Ragan shouted at me, seemingly noticing my irritation in the midst of battle.

"You....arrogant....inquisitor! I will burn you to ash!"

The mage snarled in anger after hearing Ragan claim he would win.

'Shit, he's right!'

I wasn't at all suited for the battle that was occurring.

'Inferno magic... shit, that's right! The fire lizard armor!'

I immediately made a run for the backstage where the armor should be located.

Blasting the doors open with light magic, I saw several inquisitors fighting the guards.

Inside a cabinet, I saw the red armor.

"Light blast!"

The glass of the cabinet, most likely reinforced with magic, was only slightly cracked.

'Shit! Shit!'

I hammered the glass down with my fists, adding in blasts of light where I could.

Not long after, the entire case shattered, my hands bleeding after being stabbed by several glass shards.

[Fire Lizard Scale Armor]

'Equip! Equip! Fucking hell just equip!'

I screamed mentally at the floating window that appeared in front of me, and suddenly, I felt a weight on my body.

The armor was immediately worn, and I did not spend time questioning it.

I looked next to the case, seeing a dead guard who had been holding a sword.

Taking the sword, I ran back to the auction hall stage to see Ragan and the mage stuck in battle.

[Confuse!]

I applied another confusion stack on the mage, and he looked back to see me.

"You again? I thought you ran."

[3/21]

It seemed that he was confused by my very presence.

He immediately shot a small blue fireball at me, but the armor was able to resist it.

"Threefold Phoenix Slash!"

Ragan jumped at the mage, moving his aura blade at inhuman speeds, letting out three immense slashes.

The mage's mask was slashed open, revealing an old, shriveled, deathly pale face which I did not recognize.

Ragan had several burn marks due to the inferno magic, but the mage was faring no better, riddled with various slash wounds.

I casted a light healing magic on Ragan, as it would be more useful than me launching a pathetic attack on the mage.

"Wait, shit, wh-"

The mage suddenly looked down, and I followed his gaze.

Ragan's attack had caused him to drop the divine blood.

And it was conveniently close to me.

The mage immediately began flying towards it, but was interrupted as Ragan launched several more slashes towards him.

"Kid, just do it, drink it!"

I did not need to be told, rushing towards the blood.

"No! Don't!"

The mage screamed in rage, unable to shake Ragan off his tail.

I picked it up, taking off the vial cap.

Gulp!

[Divine Blood Consumed]
