"What? Big bro, you caught another new Pokémon!" Max saw the Electrike next to Ash playing, and immediately regretted not being able to see it, "I was so focused on playing games and losing that I missed the battle! How could I!"
"May, I will never go with you again!" Max seemed to have made up his mind.
May looked at the cute Electrike rubbing Ash's leg and was a little stunned, "Ash, can you still remember how many Pokémon you have caught so far? I have only caught two Pokémon while you caught so many."
"Besides, this Electrike is so cute, I want one too! Can I please have it, baby?" May hugged Electrike and couldn't put it down and just liked at Ash with her baby doll eyes, which obviously didn't work in the experienced Ash. Thes kinds of fluffy Pokémon's are her favorite ones.
Ash's new Electrike was also very docile compared to most other ones when not battling, but he can quickly change this when he is in a battle. He let May hold him and continued look cute for his masters mate.
Ash smiled at seeing two of the things belonging to him being so so close and said, "May, you are just starting out now on you journey for the first time, so you don't need to catch as many Pokémon as I do. When you become proficient in it and have enough ability to take care of them all, you can try to add more Pokémon to your team. You have to remember that the Pokémon's are our partners, once you make them join you, you will be responsible for their wellbeing." Ash lovingly told his inexperienced girlfriend.
"Yes sir, I understand!" In fact, May was just feeling a little envious and nothing more. She knew her situation well. She couldn't even take care of her two Pokémon by herself and needed Ash's and Brock's help.
Brock looked at Ash talking to May, smiled and nodded, "By the way, Ash, where is our next destination?"
"The next Gym is located in Lavaridge Town, so most definitely there for our next destination. From what I heard from Wattson, the Gym Leader will be using Fire-type Pokémon's." This is also the reason why Ash exchanged his Torchic immediately after beating the Gym. He had already planned to let his Torchic challenge the Lavaridge Gym.
His Growlithe was still in its early stage, so there was no need for her to join him.
"No, Ash, can we go first go to Fallabor Town? I asked Nurse Joy and she said that the closest and next Pokémon Contest will be held at Fallabor Town. Ash, you also want to participate, right?" May asked quickly. She really needed to win a Pokémon Contest!
Hearing these two place names, Max quickly took out the PokéNav and inquired, "Big bro, the distance between Fallabor Town and Lavaridge Town is not far, on the other hand, you need to go through an area very close to the town." Max said excitedly.
Looking at the two points not far apart on the map, Ash nodded and made the final decision, "Then we can go to Fallabor Town first, and then go to Lavaridge Town through there."
After all, he had to make time for his next Pokémon Contest, and the Gyms can't exactly run away from him.
After they left the big city of Mauville City, Ash and the group plunged into the deep forest again.
The most common thing in all of their trips were the vast number of forests, and this time they were lucky enough to encountered a whole watermelon field not long after they left.
The watermelon inside were all ripe and looked to be growing very really well.
"Wow, so many big melons!" May was pleasantly surprised by this.
Of course, there are ordinary fruits like this in the Pokémon world. After all, most of the berries are not tasty to the human tongue and only taste good to certain Pokémon's.
Ash, Misty and then their previous partner Tracy had encountered the seven Grapefruit Islands back in the Orange Islands, and it was also there that Ash was able to catch his long waited Snorlax, who could swim very well. In terms of his strength alone, it was enough to serve as one of Ash's strongest regular Pokémon's.
However, the cultivation of this such a ordinary fruit is actually much more difficult than that of tree fruits, as it requires fruit farmers to spend a lot of effort in cultivating it.
If they randomly eat the watermelons here without asking or looking for anyone, they would most likely be treated as thieves and be beaten ups
Ash would never let that happen again!
A blue light flashed on his eyes, as he quickly wanted to find the owner here, but he found something else interesting thing on the other side of the hillside.
It was a Electrode, but it was disguised as a bigger than normal watermelon. It must be acting as the guard here in this melon field to protect the watermelons here from being stolen.
"Hey, who are you guys?" A pretty girl soon appeared next to Ash and the rest, "Are why are you four here to steal my melons again?"
"No! No!" Ash quickly said back, "We were just passing by, and we also didn't want to pick them to eat. You can't slander great people like us when you don't even know us!"
"Huh.. really?" The young lady looked Ash up and down. His shape was quite unique, with Pikachu and Ralts standing on his shoulders, and an Electrike at his feet.
He was handsome to say the least.
Yes, he is right. Such a handsome man will never do such bad things!
"Haha. My bad. The watermelons here are all carefully grown by me. If you want to eat them, there is no problem other than one..." The young lady said, "As long as you can beat me in a doubles match, you can eat as much as you want!"
Poor Brock couldn't even say anything before he was pulled back by Max and May.
So if he wins the battle, he can eat as much of her melons as he wants, so of course he can't miss such a chance!
The battle began immediately.
"My name is Natasha! These are my two Pokémon's I will be using!" Natasha threw two Poké Balls, "Amd just to let you know, but we have never lost in a doubles match!"
It was very obvious that this girl Natasha was very confident in her power, and the Pokémon she used were indeed good enough. She was young to be using a Grovyle and a Slugma, a combination of Grass and Fire.
"I am Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town, and they are the ones I use are my Torchic, and Electrike!" Ash then threw his Torchic's Poké Ball out.
And his Electrike happily ran up and stood with it to please Ash.
Then, Torchic snorted and turned his head aside from Electrike.
"Okay, now the doubles match is about to begin! Are both sides ready?" Brock was in charge of being the referee as he was actually a professionally licensed one. The moment his announcement was made, the eyes of the two Pokémon on Ash's side completely changed to that of a much more serious note.
"Elec..." Electrike lowered his body, and some low growls were coming from his open mouth. The fur all over his body all stood up, and there were now streaks of electricity flowing through it.
Torchic's eyes also became much more sharp, and the temperature of his whole body seemed to be rising at a noticeable speed.
They looked at each other, as they had to put aside their daily banter during this battle. They were now united as one to fight for their beloved Trainer!
"Its so scary. My little Electrike's appearance changed all of a sudden." May couldn't even handle it anymore. Is this really the same docile Electrike she plays with?
Max, however, focused on Torchic, "May, your Torchic is far worse than big bros one, and his one is younger!"
Max has forgotten when was the last time May's Torchic actually trained with the rest.
"Okay, let's start. You can go first since I'm so nice!" Natasha was really confident in her battle prowess and let Ash take the lead in attacking.
"Then I'm happy to oblige!" Ash smiled back softly, "Torchic, Flame Charge! Electrike, Charge!"
Torchic turned into a fireball and was ready to hit Grovyle, while Electrike started to Charge up and then launch a thunderous strike at Slugma.
But Natasha was really experienced in tag team battles and knew what to do, "Grovyle, avoid using Bullet Seed to attack Electrike! Slugma, use Flamethrower on that Electrike!"
Natasha launched a double attack on Electrike in an instant, and the two attacks soon also came towards Electrike.
However, Electrike's speed was even more amazing.
"After avoiding it, Discharge! Ember!"
Ash's quick order made Brock on the side suddenly widen his closed eyes.
Although he had never engaged in doubles battles, he could tell by just looking at Natasha how much more experienced she was at this than anyone he had seen.
When she gave the order, she made it very clear who was going to do what and what the target of the attack was, this ensured a much more smoother response from her Pokémon.
But what about Ash? Commanding two Pokémon at the same time, issuing huge orders looked so simple from his perspective.
It's not really difficult for the much faster Ash to respond back. Discharge's is of course from Electrike, and Ember's is from Torchic. As for who to attack, there was no need for that.
Ash made sure his Pokémon's knew the type chart for when wasn't with them, they could use this to gain the upper hand.
The Electric-type Discharge was not effective against the Grass-type Grovyle, and the Fire-type Ember has no effect against Slugma, who was also a Fire-type Pokémon.
They determined their attack target early on, almost as soon as the battle had begun!
And just with this simple command, Ash's fighting rhythm had become much faster than that of the opposite Natasha.
Electricity rushes and shocked the Slugma, Ember flies up and hit the Grovyle that was jumping into the air.
Natasha couldn't react to such a rapid attack, and Ash's attack combo also hadn't ended yet, "Thunder Fang! Flame Charge!"
The two Pokémon rushed over at the same time, heading towards their intended attack target.
Thunder Fang took a bite at Slugma, and the smoke from the small scale explosion swallowed him up completely.
The blazing fireball hit Grovyle hard, and the two Pokémon flew out from their own small explosion, completely losing their ability to fight anymore!
After the battle, Torchic looked at Electrike beside him, snorted again, and turned back to where Ash was. Electrike quickly caught up with him and arrived at Ash's feet looking for compliments.
"Torchic, you will have the Fighting-type added to you in the future, so it is very important to strengthen your legs from the early stages. Don't rest when you feel tired, keep running! You want to beat Electrike, right? But see that Electrike is much faster than you! So you have to be faster too!"
On the way to their destination of Fallarbor Town, Ash and his group passed a mountainous road. Since they needed to climb the mountain to get their quicker, Ash had simply summoned his Torchic and Electrike to train their speed and durability.
Judging from their current training situation, it was just like if a real life green puppy was chasing a big orange chicken. They were ultimately just training in the mountain.
Seeing Ash's Torchic grow up so quickly from just a small and newborn Pokémon, Max quickly said to May who was beside him, "May, you have to hurry up and train Torchic like big brother is! How can you even consider yourself to be his girlfriend like this? You have to become stronger!" Max said behemothly.
Traveling with Ash, Max finally understood that Ash's existence and powerful power was definitely not something that was obtained as easily as he had hoped, as it required the accumulation of many days of hard work.
May hesitated but knew that she had to become stronger so she can stand next to Ash, "Come out, Torchic!"
Ash's Torchic noticed this "senior", snorted while looking at him, glanced at Electrike beside him, and the two Pokémon accelerated at the same time in some kind of tacit understanding.
May's Torchic was left behind and was ignored by the two on them as if he wasn't even there in the first place. May's starters speed and physical strength could not keep up with the Pokémon trained by Ash himself and also his other much stronger and experienced Pokémon's.
Torchic stepped teh ground hard in frustration, and May ran over to pick him up, then looked at Ash in a cute manner, "Ash..."
Even Ash didn't know what to do here, so he said what he thought, "May, every Trainer has their own training method, you don't have to follow my training method."
I can't help too much even if he wanted to, really.
May nodded at her boyfriend and took Torchic to train slowly away from their temporary shelter. It was true that Torchic was her Starter Pokémon, but she hadn't actually trained it much yet.
Suddenly, a stone fell from the hillside and almost hit where Ash's Torchic and Electrike were standing at. Ash and the group stopped and saw a small blue Pokémon on the hillside, ready to do something.
Ash's eyes lit up because it was a Bagon!
Like his Dratini, it is the first form of the of one of the Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon's, and after it evolves into it's final form, it becomes the Pokémon known as Salamence!
This is also one of the Pokémon's he really wished to add to his main team.
But his enthusiasm soon disappeared from his eyes. He could tell that this was not a wild Bagon by any means, so it must have a Trainer around here.
"What is it doing?" May asked curiously, looking up at it.
"That Bagon will most likely jump down from that position and hit one of the rocks here with his head. They do this to exercise their hard head." Ash explained calmly to his clueless girlfriend.
As soon as he finished speaking, Bagon jumped down from the tall cliff, dived into the air below, fluttered his little limbs wildly, and then rushed down with his head and smashed the rock down.
This scene frightened May and Max out of their wits. If they were really hit from such a high place, they couldn't even think how dead they would be within that second.
Brock hurriedly took the two siblings to get away from here, but Asb stayed where he was with a calm and collected demeanor. With Bagon's vigorous jump from another of the rocks, it was now moving in a parabola, landing not far away behind him.
Brock and the other two ran back, but Bagon landed on a big rock next to them, smashing it into pieces and making their faces turn even more pale with pure fright.
Then they looked at Ash who hadn't moved a step not far away and couldn't help but give him a look of awestruck. In fact, this was a very simple matter for him. Ash was after all a highly intelligent Pokémon Trainer, so it wasn't hard for him to be able to grasp the movements of a slower Pokémon like this Bagon.
Bagon stood up from the rubble again the second time, unharmed, and then looked at the Torchic and Electrike beside him.
"Do you want to challenge us?" Ash smiled softly, and his Ralts on his shoulders suddenly jumped down and stood in front of Torchic and Electrike, as if protecting her younger brothers.
"Ralts is about to fight that Bagon!" Max exclaimed in excitement. Out of all the Pokémon's Ash had caught, he felt he had the most connection to was Ralts.
And this scene did surprised them a little. Ralts was obviously known to be a very timid Pokémon, but this one was actually standing up to a battle willingly.
Of course, this is because of Ash's care, training and love for his little Ralts. Their Bond Value was already very high from the moment she was born. Ash believed that as long as she completes her final evolution, she can directly undergo their Bond Evolutions.
His future Psychic Queen plan was looking very promising.
It was true that Torchic and Electrike would have a harder time facing Bagon in terms of level and types, but his Ralts can easily defeat it with both of those things.
"Ralu Lalu!" Ralts called to the two Pokémon behind her a few times, and they quickly returned to Ash's side.
"Ralts, use Disarming Voice!" This was a Fairy-type attack, so it had an outstanding effect on the weaker Bagonz Bagon was already dazed, swaying as if he was drunk.
"Now, Draining Kiss!" Ash gave the order again without a second of hesitation.
Suddenly, a young lady wearing sunglasses jumped down from the hillside and stood behind her Bagon.
She clicked on the side of her sunglasses and began to murmur, "Start calculating the activation method and attack trajectory of the Draining Kiss. Bagon, hide behind the rock on the left!"
Bagon was very decisive after hearing that voice. He jumped to the left and hid behind the mentioned rock and was successfully able to avoid the Draining Kiss because of this in the last moment.
Then the young lady turned around and yelled at Ash and his group, "What on earth do you people want to do? Why did you attack my Bagon so randomly?!"
"No job I, we were just passing by and then we saw that this Bagon was suddenly jumped from the cliff there, so..." May quickly explained for them.
Hearing this, the young lady understood, "Is that so? It seems like we are the ones causing trouble... I'm sorry about the misunderstanding."
She took off her sunglasses and someone was immediately impressed by the women's appearance. And that someone immediately elated back, "No, not at all, hahah! It's actually our fault, right Ash?!"
Sure it was.
"A dramatic and impactful encounter like this is the best start to a love story! My name is Brock, may I ask what you na—"
"Um, I'm Michelle. Nice to meet you."
"What a nice name!" Brock immediately came back.
Seeing the embarrassment of the young lady, Ash had to pull Brock away for the second time, looked at Michelle and said with a smile, "This little guy probably wants to fly already."
Hearing Ash say this, Michelle suddenly seemed to have a feeling that they will be good friends, "So you understand this! My Bagon wanted to fly into the sky from the moment he was!"
"Flying in the sky?" Brock and May was stunned.
"Yes, Pokémon like my Bagon have had the yearning to soar in the sky since they were born. They will work hard at this stage, accumulate a lot of energy, and then evolve into a Shelgon. Inside the hard shell, the cells will undergo drastic changes and this will form a brand new body for them. The reason why Salamence's wings are blood red is precisely because that is all its essence! Pure Blood!"
Ash opened his mouth to explain to everyone the growth process of a Pseudo-Legendary Pokemon like Bagon in a single breath, and then said with a smile, "But I can let this little one experience it first hand!"
As he spoke, a pink light flashed in his eyes, and his Psychic activated on the Bagon to lift it up and make him fly in the air. Seeing it dancing happily made everyone smile.
To train up a Pseudo-Legendary really consumes a lot of energy from the Trainer. Now that Ash has indeed caught a lot of new Pokémon's recently, he wouldn't dare to try to go out looking for a second Pseudo-Legendary!
If he really does, it will consume a lot of his energy and time.
"That's awesome!" Max looked at Bagon in the air and murmured, "You really really know a lot."
Even Michelle got excited, "Ash, can I have a Pokémon battle with you? Originally, I wanted him to accumulate more battle experience and evolve as soon as possible. But now it seems that these kinds of matters cannot be rushed!"
"That's right!" Ash nodded, as her request for a battle could not be refused.
Michelle's pair of sunglasses was definitely filled with some sort of high-tech, which reminds Ash of that guy with a Scizor he met back in the Johto Region who used his computers to analyze data to compete in battles.
These sunglasses are obviously much more efficient than having to keep clicking and looking down.
"It's up to you, Dratini!"
The first stage of the Kanto Region Dragon-type Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon, Dratini, fighting against the Hoenn Region Dragon-type Pseudo-Legendary.
However, this battle was already over the moment it started!
"Dratini, Dragon Tail!"
Michelle's pair of sunglasses couldn't capture Dratini's figure at all. Before she could analyze it and give her command, Dratini's Dragon Tail had already thrown her Bagon away and hit the mountainside wall.
The force immediately hade a big hole!
"Bagon loses it's ability to fight, meaning Dratini and Ash is the winner of this battle!" Brock directly announced Ash's victory. He, too, knew how this battle would have ended before it even began.
Dragon-type Pokémon are very particular about their bloodlines. The Dratini that Ash worked so hard to obtain has an unimaginable strong bloodline. Coupled with the trading and resources that Ash was constantly giving him from the beginning was something that almost no one would have able to give.
His future Dragonite will definitely become one of his strongest Pokémon's with the likes of his Pikachu, Charizard, Gyarados, Tyranitar, etc.!
