Chapter 226: 226. Spy

I'm having family issues so I can't really post anything.

But don't worry, I'm not dropping this.

————————————————————

I'm back boys and girls.

————————————————————

Following Mr. Kennedy to the Devin Corporation Headquarters, Ash noticed Officer Jenny at a first sight. She was explaining something to the young lady at the front desk.

"Officer Jenny!" Ash showed his high level Investigator Badge, "I am Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town and a member of the International G-Men. What happened here?"

Officer Jenny quickly saluted to Ash, "Here's the thing, I got information that someone was targeting Devon Corporation, so I came here to inform them that I too would join the search and also ask them to strengthen their security system!"

Ash nodded understandably. Although it was not a direct Pokémon incident, after experiencing the battle in the Alto Mare and other places, Ash still kept things like this in his mind.

Sure enough, Ash and his group followed Mr. Kennedy upstairs, and the Rocket Trio sneaked in wearing some researcher clothes.

They have learned to be smart recently, knowing that no matter how they disguise themselves, they can't escape Ash's eyes, so they learned to set a time difference with Ash to take the opportunity to sneak in and see what treasures there are while he isn't directly here.

But in fact, they don't even know what kind of so called treasure is located here.

After being reminded by Ash, Officer Jenny focused her glance on the three of them with just one look. At this time, President Stone and Max had already chased the man to the rooftop.

Max was still a child after all. When he accidentally fell while climbing the stairs, he subconsciously screamed.

Hearing his voice, the strange person decisively chose to accelerate his speed and ran upstairs. President Stone looked at his back and said, "We have been discovered by him."

"It's all my fault…" Max felt that he was very useless today. Not only did he destroy his and his sisters PokéNav, they even lost track of the suspicious person because of his mistake.

However, President Stone consoled him gently, "No, you have done a good job. He was panicked and run away swiftly, which means he has proven by his actions that he is definitely a spy of some sort."

These are the wise words of a person who made a new startup company and eventually made it reached the height of the legendary Siloh Co.!

Hearing his encouragement, Max was able to calm down a little, nodded heavily, regained some go his composure and chased after that spy with Mr. Stone.

Now that the suspect had been alerted of them and the suspicious identity of the other party was also confirmed, Mr. Stone immediately called his assistant, Mr. Kennedy.

Ash and his team had also heard about the theft of the culture bottle from Mr. Kennedy when he received the call. Their current team immediately took a shortcut in the direction they had not seen under the leadership of Mr. Kennedy.

Even so, the so-called shortcut is still a long way to go up. And May, who usually shouts that she is tired and needs a rest after walking only few steps, this time was keeping up with the pace of Ash and Brock, two very experienced travelers.

Her little brother may be in danger!

However, Max, who was chasing the suspicious person, didn't look scared at all by this. Even President Stone was a little surprised, "Max, don't you feel scared?"

Max smiled and said with confidence, "My Big Bro said that a Trainer should move forward without any fear if they want to achieve great things in life!"

"Then ehat he said was very well said!" Mr. Stone immediately agreed to what Ash said to Max, "Trainers should grow up little by little in adventures like this. That Big Brother of yours that you mentioned, you are talking about is Ash Ketchum, the winner of the last Silver Conference, right? My son is also full of praise for him. He too is excited about Ash's emergence."

"Your son?" Max asked a little questionably.

"Yes, he also said that one day he wants to have have a grand battle against Ash." President Stone was very proud of his young but powerful son.

"The stairs leading to the roof are just ahead. He has no way to escape from here!"

Not only that, the suspicious person opened the door and went to the balcony. The person standing and waiting in front of him was Ash!

Boom!

Without any explanation, Ash knocked him down on the ground with a hard left hook. Half of his originally face suddenly swelled up, and now even the boss in his organization wouldn't recognize him.

"Max, are you okay?" Ash wiped his fist and looked at Max who was catching up with the suspicious person.

"Of course I'm okay, Ash, you were so awesome with that pouch of yours!" Max looked at Ash with pure admiration. That punch was so powerful that the Trainer actually almost fainted!

"This is my Big Bro Ash, and over there is my sister, May. And that there is Brock, all of our Big Brother!" Max introduced teh group to President Stone.

"Ash, I have admired your name for some time now. Thanks to you, we were able to catch this person in no time." President Stone happily greeted Ash like this.

"President Stine, there's no need to say that."

The suspicious person was almost knocked unconscious by just a single punch. After everyone had finished saying their greetings, the suspicious man woke up and threw out a Poké Ball, "Come out, Crawdaunt!"

A big red lobster with a five-pointed star on its head appeared infront of them.

This kind of giant lobster is very bellicose and likes to stir up disputes, and will throw out all the Pokémon out of its territory.

Knowing who normally uses Crawdaunts as their main Pokémon's from his G-Men database, Ash understood that he was from the evil team called Team Aqua.

Based on the intelligence collected by Team Rocket before, combined with Ash's memory and using his current status, the two opposing mysterious organizations in the Hoenn Region, Team Aqua and Team Magam.

The minions of the Team Magma mostly use the Fire-type and Dark-type Houndoom, as well as some other common Dark-types like Mightyena, etc., which he had seen them use before. There are also some members who use Numels and Camerupt.

While the grunts form Team Aqua use mostly the Water-type and Dark-type Crawdaunt and Carvanha, etc.

This should be a mission assigned by his organization.

"Interesting." Ash would never back down when faced with a Pokémon battle and when he can also train his Pokémon's on real battles with consequences, "Stand by for battle, Treecko!"

Treecko, a Grass-type Pokémon, has a big advantage over Crawdaunt, a Water and Dark-type Pokémon.

And Ash's Treecko has improved very quickly recently under his strict but careful training.

Although his true foundation was weak when Ash first caught him, he was still able to endure some battles because of his innate abilities.

After such a period of training under him, it has become more and more reliable.

If this goes on, Treecko will soon be evolve into his next form.

"Use Absorb!"

They all saw a green light coming from the Crawdaunt and being taken inside of Treeckos body, and he suddenly became more energetic than when the battle even began .

However, the man and Crawdaunt were not moved by it much at all. They just looked at Treecko and Ash with nothing but contempt, "Use Crabhammer!"

This attack is something Ash is very familiar with. It is exactly the main attack he is training his Kingler in, "Use Quick Attack to avoid the blow!"

Treecko's speed became even more faster than his initial speed, his whole body turned into a green afterimage, avoiding this powerful attack, "Use Absorb again!"

After two of Treeckos Absorb, the much stronger Crawdaunt finally lost some of his health.

Before Treecko's Grass-type skills are enriched, his Absorb skill will obviously become one of his strongest moves.

"Damn it, Crawdaunt, use Bubble Beam!"

Seeing that he couldn't catch up with Treecko's movements, the man decisively used a fast Special Attack. A large number of thick bubbles shot out from Crawdaunt's pair of giant lobster claws, but how much damage could a Water-type attack do to Treecko who could avoid most, if not all, damages.

"Quickly avoid it!"

Despite this order, Treecko was still hit after persisting for a while. This Crawdaunt has level suppression on Treecko and is quite well-trained.

"Quick Attack to move then use Absorb!"

However, Ash didn't seem to care about this at all. He saw green light flowing to Treecko again from Crawdaunts body, and he immediately recovered from most of the damage caused by the previous Bubble Beam just now.

At this moment, Crawdaunt was finally weakened to a level where Treecko can fight on a more aggressive way.

"Damn it!"

The man decisively took back his Crawdaunt.

Taking advantage of the last Bubble Beam, he had already taken out the a flying device from his box on the side and equipped it.

Obviously, he had prepared it and put it here early in the morning to make a quick escape.

The route to the rooftop had already been long planned by him and his organization.

But will Ash really let him get away with his wish?

There was a flash of pink light in his eyes and hand, and the flying device was crushed by Ash's Psychic Force. He could only fall from the air and hang just outside of the rooftop!

This is the tallest building in the entire Rustboro City!

But even so, the man still didn't look like he was panicking for help. He threw the two stolen culture bottles towards Ash. Of course, Ash had to rush to use his Psychic to catch them.

The man took this opportunity to jump off the building, landed in through the window downstairs, and quickly escaped smoothly.

Chapter 227: 227. Bad Luck

"Ash, thank you so much for your help today, if not for you, our very important research may not be with us anymore."

After confirming that the member of Team Aqua had escaped, President Stone personally sent Ash and his party back to the Pokémon Center and treated them to a very luxurious meal.

It was not just luxury cuisine. As the leader of such a large company, President Stone was naturally interested in making friends with Ash, a future Champion and a high ranking member of the International G-Men, so he naturally gave him lots of good things.

Ash was naturally not stingy when it came to using his hard earned funds. He has solved various incidents and participated in various competitions along the way, which is also a major source of income for Ash during his journey. Of course he also gets a large amount of money from his job as being a member of the G-Men.

Therefore, in a sense, Team Rocket is also basically Ash's main source of wealth.

In addition, Ash also got a new PokéNav from the Devon Corporation, and it is a newly developed version with multi-function machine. Its functions are far superior to May's and Max's PokéNav, which will short-circuit if it gets into water.

May had obviously eaten the most out of their group, but she is still at stuffing her cheeks at this moment. After leaving such a big city, she feels like it will take a long time to eat such delicious food again, not to mention such luxurious cuisine, so she will not miss such an opportunity.

"No, I was unable to catch the man from Team Aqua. I believe you still need to be careful and always have guard near your research." Ash said modestly.

Seeing Ash's clear attitude, President Stone nodded repeatedly, "It's truly the best to go out on adventures when you are still able to. My son Steven is also traveling around the world now while I can only stay here with my old age." He said with a bit of melancholy.

"I heard that Steven resigned from the title of the Hoenn Champion and embarked on his journey again. His courage is truly something that I admire." Ash said with a straight face.

When it comes to business exchanges like this, Ash knows how to do that because of his training from Lance.

It is obvious that President Stone was very proud of his son Steven. If he praises Steven in front of him, he will definitely like to hear it.

Just like Ash thought, President Stone laughed heartily, "Ash, Steven is also full of praise for you. I believe you two will become friends if you two were to meet. I believe he is still on Dewford Island now. It would be great if you could meet him there."

Ash smiled and nodded slightly, "It seems that after finishing my Gym Battle on Dewford Island, we can take a nice walk around the island. If Steven is also out there, there must be something good waiting for me."

Seeing Ash and Steven's eyes look exactly the same with their inner strength, President Stine kept nodding his head, "Ash, your PokéNav has a new function that allows you to call people who have your number. I have logged in my contact information. You can contact me at any time in the future."

This means that Ash's future travels will be protected by President Stone, a very rich and influential person in this region.

Of course, there is no such thing as too much good thing, but no matter how much support someone receives, it is still not as reliable as your own strength. Ash has no plan to change the current path he is taking now, he will continue to travel and become the Pokémon Master he is destined for!

After another night of rest at the Pokémon Center, Ash and his team are finally ready to head towards Dewford Island.

"Before that, let's go eat the best pasta in Rustboro City before we leave, can we?" May has a pure fanatical pursuit for food.

Every time she visits a place, she will investigate what popular delicacies there are and then make sure to check in and taste them.

Yesterday, she visited five restaurants in one go until she was exhausted and full. In the end, she was left with this one as the last one left to be untouched, which is considered to be the best pasta restaurant in all of Rustboro City, so she definitely wants to taste this delicious food before leaving.

So before the boat sailed, she took the group to the shop for breakfast.

"But is there really a restaurant in a place like this?" Max looked at the increasingly deserted streets in front of them and became confused. Following May, they seemed to have arrived at an abandoned and uninhabited street.

But May was still very confident in herself, "There is no problem with it, I have printed out all the information I needed from the Pokémon Center computer!"

She is looking forward to the so called "Best Pasta in the whole of Rustboro City", "We can just eat the pasta and then take a boat ride, this is the perfect plan!" She said excitedly.

After their long search, they did find this so called famous pasta restaurant, but it had been closed for a long time now. Even the outer walls were peeling off. It had obviously been closed for many years, one did not need to be bright to seee this.

"No way! How can that be?!" May was immediately embarrassed and depressed. "It clearly said that this is the restaurant with the best reputation in the whole city!"

Ash took the information in May's hand and immediately didn't know whether to laugh or cry, "May, although the day here is correct, you got the complete wrong year."

"Ah?" May took it back and looked at it carefully, "This...how is this from a whole ten years ago?"

There are just way too many things that can change in ten years. The popular store ten years ago may have been relocated or closed because of something. In short, what is in front of them now is nothing but a very dilapidated, old, empty store.

They had nowhere to go to eat, no store close to them, let alone breakfast, they couldn't even find any people. Even the location of the main harbor had been moved in the past ten years. They could only watch the passenger ships sail away from the harbor across the coast, the place where they previously were.

If you want to go around there, you probably have to walk halfway!

"Well, forget about it, Brock, let's check where we can have breakfast. We have to fill our stomachs first." Ash, as the soul and brains of the team, finally made the decision for the group.

He didn't exactly blame May for being unreliable, he was just disappointed with her lack of awareness.

He was more surprised she brought a magazines from ten years ago to visit the store, like will even sells them anymore?

They just have to make peace with their situation.

There are many passenger ships from Rustboro City that goes to Dewford Island. There are three departures a day. If they couldn't catch one in the morning, they can just take the afternoon or noon one.

But the more Ash said things like this, the more guilty May felt. She hesitated and said, "Everyone, sit here for a while, and I'll find a boat that can take us to our destination."

Just like Max's decision yesterday, she planned to take responsibility for the mistakes she had made and tried to make amends, so she wanted to search around as much as possible to see if there were any boats that could let them board.

"But there's no sign of any ships here anymore." Max questioned May; after all, can a ship really be found here?

But May was quite optimistic about herself. "Since this place used to be a harbor, it shouldn't be that difficult to find one or two boats that we can use."

She just relied on her momentum to go out alone to find it, but it was a long way along the coast. Not to mention the boat, there was not even a human figure in sight.

In the past, she would have been unable to move in such a deserted place out of fear, but now she is looking around for someone, looking for where she can get help.

Of course she didn't notice that Ash and the others were following her quietly, without eating breakfast, and were all hungry together, so they just protected her safety and her self-esteem from the background.

"Looks like she's really lucky, there are actually really people here." Seeing the old man fishing at the old pier not far away from them on a good looking boat, Ash smiled slightly and looked at the two people beside him, "Let's go back and wait for May to come find us."

"Okay, I'll try to make some jelly filled donuts for everyone to fill their bellies with in the meantime."
