Chapter 18: Chapter 18

"You have been hiding this form the entire time!!!" Uther yelled out, anger rising from within him and knowing that his father would indeed favor this experiment more than him. He never thought that hurting that beast would turn her out of control. Seven did not even hesitate to charge at him, digging her claws into Uther's chest as he felt his heart rip out from inside. This attack was far more painful than any he had ever experienced. "W-What do you want?! I will give you anything! Let me go!" Uther begged for his life now. He did not think that he would beg for his life, but it was going to destroy his body. His spider form was weakening at the same time. He could not even move his limbs.

Seven did not care; her other sharp claws struck down into Uther's spider form. Striking the spider's heart, she could not miss that now. It was easy to hear more than one heart with his form. The only word that ran through her mind that time when she saw Uther was Kill. She did not respond or let Uther go.

Seven's paws dug into both hearts, then burnt fire, burning him from the inside out; she did not even know that she was unconsciously doing all of this. All the blood and Uther's body had been burnt to ashes; she looked over to Sachin, who lay down with blood all over his body. 'I… want to save him.' Those words lingered on and on in her unconscious mind. Going over to him, she laid her temporary paw on his body and transferred all the injuries to herself, with the feeling of pain overcoming her body all around. She started to lose her monstrous form not long after the transfer of the pain and injuries. Giving back her human form with beast aspects, she only had her human features appearing in the end, but the beast's eyes and claws remained. Falling over, she fainted beside Sachin, who slowly regained consciousness.

Sachin woke up to see blood on himself, but he looked next to him. His eyes grew wide, seeing the little girl who had all the injuries on herself, even though her clothes showed no sign of being ripped. "H-Ho…???" Being unable to utter a word into place, he thought that he had been the one who took all the injuries for her. This was no time for him to think or remember what happened.

"Archmage!!!!" All the mages had finally arrived with Ernest, who came along with Sachin, finally seeing the entire place was a big mess. Ernest was rescued by the mages, who finally arrived to help them when it was too late.

"Call a doctor and healer!" Sachin shouted to them; he had cast a spell to stop the bleeding while they hurried off to find a doctor and healer. His emotions of anger and worry sharpened his senses. "You better not die on me!" Sachin had taken her to a nearby hotel without guests there knowing why there were so many mages and beast folks. "Get out of the way!" He shouted, hurrying along. He placed her into the bed with the doctors summoned there. Ernest had to pay the hotel owner but could not explain the situation. Sachin had never felt his heart shake so much since the last time it had shaken this much was when assassins nearly killed his wife.

Two days later…

The surgery continued for the next two days, leaving all the doctors exhausted since the child was likely harder to perform on. The healers in the back did their best to steady the girl's condition while healing the organs for the doctor. Both doctors and healers had their perks in their jobs. With such severe cases, the healers could only choose to heal the outside or the inside of her body. Once the doctors had finished, they could only hope for the child to recover independently. "How is she?!"

"She passed the critical stage, but it will be some time before we can tell if she will surely wake up." The doctor did not know what else to say since it was hard.

"If she does not wake up, then I will order all the doctors to be beheaded!" Sachin was never joking around; he wanted this little girl to live. He had released a roar with his words that shook the entire place with fear.

"W-W-We will do our best to ensure she wakes up!" The doctors were frightened at that moment since they had never seen the Archmage so angry before. Although they had done nothing wrong, they still had to bear the punishment if the results failed. They could only wait for days or months if that is how long it took for her to wake up.

Seven found herself in darkness, hugging her knees close to her chest—her face looked down to her feet. 'I failed him. I wanted to keep to my vow.' Feeling her mind slowly break, she wanted to be able to protect the little one's family. 'What can a monster do? Monsters are meant to kill and go insane. We cannot comprehend what is right or wrong.' She felt more alone. Yet, it was a place that felt like she belonged to avoid any more trouble for anyone.

"Hey, little girl. You better wake up. Do not force me to make Priti see you like this."

'Whose voice is that?' She pondered, not realizing the voice calling out to her. 'It sounds familiar.' Opening her eyes, she looked to see an unfamiliar place and saw that it was her in her previous life as a victim.

Seeing two different people appear before her, they were the last to cherish her deeply in her first life. "Grow up healthy and strong." Hearing them both say, she could still feel the warmth they gave off, with her heart beating again to the warmness. "Be happy in any life, and if anything tries to take it away, then fight for it. We will take care of this girl from where we are. Be happy and live your life to the fullest." Hearing those people say, she then saw the girl who was the original owner of the body that she was in. Standing by the two people who raised her before, she could see a smile on the little girl's face. Only a flash of light came into her view.

Slowly waking up, she grunted to feel her body in pain all over, with no clue what had happened or how she got it. Hearing people cry on the other side, she saw curtains surrounding the entire bed. 'Where am I?' She thought.

"You finally woke up." Looking to the side, she saw Reg with his complete beast form in place—not like it ever changed in the first place. He had been sitting on the edge of the bed and moved the few strands of hair away from her face with his lion paws. "You saved my father. Thank you, but think about yourself before you act." Reg thanked her ahead of time; he truly appreciated her bravery, but doing that was stupid of her. "If you are wondering how I got here. I happened to pass by some bugs while you were in critical condition and then assisted my father in getting you back home." Seven was still exhausted; she groaned to feel her body still aching all over. "You took a lot of injuries. They said that there were at least eight stab wounds on your body with some organs ripped up. They do not even know how you survived." Reg did not think she would make it since there were far too many that even the doctors' hope to live was slim.

There was silence between the two as if they were typically back at the Maximus Mansion. "You probably don't want to talk to someone mean like me." Reg was about to leave when his paw was grabbed. Seven had held onto his paw; she did not want to be left alone. Feeling the warmth from his paw, she continued to stare at his paw with the black shade of fur. Reg had his mouth slightly open to see that she could start feeling bolder about her actions. "Idiot, why are you starting to move around when you are still hurt?" He sighed. Reg sat back down on the edge of the bed with Seven. She rubbed her thumb against his paw—silence remained between them throughout the entire time. Seven had fallen back asleep unknowingly; Reg, on the other hand, was watching over her until the door to the room had been opened.

"Has she woken up?" Sachin looked over to his son, then to the little girl who had been near death's door for the past few days.

"She was earlier, but I did not think that she would wake up when I came to visit." Reg did not know how this little girl managed to endure all this pain and still woke up. "Makes me wonder how she managed to endure all the pain."

"I wonder about that too," Sachin said, going over to the little girl who still looked slightly in pain even in her sleep. Thinking again, he thought about Uther's words and then looked at the little girl, who still held some beastly aspects from her claws in his view. 'Is it due to the possibility of mutating her?' Sachin assumed that the reason that she managed to survive was due to the mutation implanted into her.
