As the auctioneer's gavel fell, the room erupted into applause. Lucas smiled, seemingly pleased with himself, while Olive and Lara exchanged worried glances.

"What are you doing, man?" Mark whispered urgently, leaning closer to Lucas. "You really have a lot of money to burn, don't you? And even if you do, couldn't you spend it on something more important?"

"Are you sure he's not drunk, though?" Lara asked, her voice tinged with skepticism. "Where's Mrs. George? She can't possibly know about this! Didn't you say the auction was just to bring families together? It's not like you're all supposed to be flaunting your wealth. And even if you are, this was supposed to be subtle! This whole meeting is about sealing business deals, not making reckless bids."

"Exactly! Ten million dollars?!" Lara exclaimed, her tone rising with disbelief.
