Chapter 3: Surprise
Much to both of their surprise a certain brown white haired girl opened the door. "Hello. How can I help you?"
Despite being quite polite he felt that something was off and was prepared for anything while observing her with everything, especially eagle vision.
'Shes here for me but...I havent met her yet' What ended up confirming his loose worst case scenario thoughts was Jean's words "Hey Rogue! How come I can't feel or hear you?"
Such an innocent question with the sight of Jean pointing at her own head. A simple innocent action but one that immediately let both Alexander and Rogue immediately know that the other also knows.
Now he certainly didn't know how much she knew and she probably didn't know how much he knew either but they were both sure that the other also understood the situation.
Laughing lightly he calmed down and apologetically spoke to Jean who had been ignored by Rogue "Sorry Jean but mind if we continue later?"
Since she was no fool she understood that something was wrong, something that both Rogue and Alexander knew. But feeling that it wasn't her place to intervene she simply left them with some parting words "Yes let's do that, Alexander....oh and both of you, if something is wrong you can talk about it. Ask for help if you need it."
Watching her somewhat dejected figure leaving the room and closing the door behind her Alexander felt frustrated which Rogue of course noticed thanks to eagle vision.
"So how'd ya die?" Seeing no reason for any level of restraint or deception he talked casually while going to sit down.
Rogue flinched at the question and clearly tried to calm herself down but quickly gave up and asked a counter question "How did you know everyone before even coming here!?"
How much does she know? Well Impenetrable mind is a singular existence. Thus despite not getting his memories she could see somethings through Impenetrable mind which she got by copying his powers and dying with them.
She only knows things after he got Impenetrable mind but he thought about a lot of things since then. Rogue also feels some small amounts of pain trauma and insanity that he carries 24/7 through their now shared Impenetrable mind but not much of it.
It was obvious that she wasn't very stable at the moment. Going from anger to fear to shyness to confusion "I got lots of information but to be fair most of it is probably meant for different realities so don't really matter. Next question m'lady?"
His behavior of course made her more angry and more shy because 1. She already knew vaguely how he felt about her 2. He never seemed to care about stuff "N-n....you....Arghh! What is wrong with you!?"
"Well the only death I managed to experience lead me here which is supposedly where I'm supposed to be but everything I experienced is still right here in my head." He was back to controlling himself as he answered but again tossed it aside as he asked her "But ya already know that don't ya? What you see hmm? And again...how'd you die?!" It was then that she broke down seemingly out of nowhere.
The sight of Rogue suddenly on her knees, tears streaming down her face, as she gasped for air, really bothered him. So he got up and hugged her while being careful not to touch her skin.
He didn't have anything against her, infact he had quite the positive opinion of her, which lead him to start thinking.
Eventually he started asking questions "Rogue please tell me. Betrayal? School attacked? D...did my memories hurt you too much?"
As she kept crying and trying to calm herself down there was a moment where he without thought gently touched her cheek which caused him to panic slightly.
Said panic was quickly calmed down by Rogue shaking her head at him with a smile. She then took off her gloves and carefully grabbed his hand.
Alexander despite his shock quickly connected the dots 'She must have gotten something that helps her somehow.' "I'm happy for you Rogue♡ Finally able to pursue what you've been missing..."
His words were followed by him hesitantly pulling her close and petting her head which she accepted for a while but eventually she pulled back and with quite a bitter tone she spoke "I...I know that you're probably the only person who eventually can...so please avenge me...please" before placing a kiss on his lips.
Those words made him seriously question a couple key points "How many times have you done this, Rogue? How many times have you told me?"
Slightly crying she answered "I-I tried a lot! I really did! B-but I've only come to you 5 times now..." 'Only 5? Well let's test things' He thought before giving her a surprise kiss on the lips.
A kiss that she accepted, even passionately reciprocated which made it guite salty. Thankfully Alexander wasn't bothered by even blood or such and continued despite the kiss being tear filled.
After pulling himself away from her soft lips he tried to get more information "How many times have we shared that kiss?"
Rogue now blushing with her still tearful eyes replied without hesitation "Twice...♡" Noting the emotions she was feeling he was now extremely determined "So youve come to me 5 times already and you've been the one to die each time while having my ability...in that case tell me our enemies and let me die for once, dummy~ And tell me the power you got."
Such talk was risky as Alexander was already fairly certain that he had somehow been restrained the other times, not allowed to die, but he wanted her to have a pleasant happy life so risks are necessary.
Clearly back to not seeing much hope in their situation she spoke "Jason and the other you called Sinister. My power is called Restraint. I've only been able to use it to restrain my powers..."
"Thank you Anna♡ See you soon~♡" His actions consisted of kissing her while simultaneously slitting his throat and seeing her reaction of panic he now had confirmation 'So I've really been restrained each time....otherwise I would have done that before'
Waking back up in the forest approximately 2 hours away from the school Alexander had his mind full of things. 'All things considered it's bad that she got my power but fantastic that she handled the situation in the way that she did. Unfortunately it confirms that others can gain my power Rogue style and make me unaware of all the times that they use said power but since I haven't met anyone else and Rogue has been resetting time....I shouldn't have to worry about anyone except for Rogue having a bit of me in them. Hopefully I'm not wrong about that...'
He made his way back to school and acted the exact same all the way till he reached his room with Jean. Once there he suddenly switched things up in an effort to gauge how far along Jean was "Yo Jean. If you had a traitor in here and a secret mastermind overlooking and manipulating everything how would the bird feel?"
Jean was of course confused especially so after he added "Don't overthink it Marvel Girl and before you think about doing anything please understand that it's people you care about that are in danger from multiple sources. Just answer my question."
Hearing no reply Alexander sighed and walked into the room, out of her sight and killed himself.
He again "woke up" in the woods and this time did the same as last time all the way till he heard her ask "What are you thinking about?"
This time with a bitter smile he answered while opening the door and walking in "Well I have a lot on my mind. I still think that your hot as fuck but currently I can't afford to focus on that..."
Seeing her ever so lightly blushing while standing at the door he gestured for her to come in "Come on in little birdy~ Leave the door slightly open, we'll have a visitor soon."
Jean again felt like there was something about him so despite her suspicion she did as he said "Okay.....why did you call me "little birdy" Alexander?"
The clear weight behind her voice as she spoke his name didn't make him nervous for a single reason 'Even in my last world I thought anything was possible....here and with my power it is a fact.'
That thought brought out his pride that he had previously killed off which Jean noticed. She was immediately on guard as she watched him go from robotic to sloppy and finally to steady and smooth.
"Because that is what you are. You are fated to be the next Phoenix. Well fate is of course something that I believe to be in your hands but a cosmic entity has found you and you already bear its powers. That's the first step of many to take its place and finally allow it to complete its purpose" His relaxed smooth manner of....doing everything wasn't scary but still managed to unsettle Jean slightly especially when he spoke of such things.
"Hey!" The slight exclamation to get her attention was followed by a water bottle that flew her way which she stopped using her telekinesis "But that's not a topic for now."
"Come on in." Alexander hadn't been paying attention using eagle vision rather more absurdly he had been counting and timing his actions. Why do so? Well he hadn't done so for quite a while so he needed to flex that unused skill to bring it back.
