At midnight, Rafael quietly stepped into Polly's room while she was fast asleep. Her intoxicating scent was the first thing that assaulted his nostril, and he had to remind himself more than once that he wouldn't touch her. Just check up on her, see if she's fine and scram out of here as quickly as possible.

He kept chanting nonstop in his head like a mantra till he finally braced himself.

The lights were out, obscuring everything in shadows, but the moonlight streaming in from the sheer white curtain illuminated her, casting a luminous glow on her figure.

Rafael advanced forward so he could see her face, almost unbelieving that he finally had the love of his life with him. It had been a slow but progressive process, and she might not love him yet, but soon, he was certain to have her heart right in the palm of his hands. All he needed was patience. He didn't mind waiting, but she had to love him. There was no escaping him.
