COSMO THE COSMIC DOG
After spending some time with Nebula, we decided to go out for dinner tonight, you know, as a little date since we are officially a couple now. We'll be meeting at the small dinner in the western part where it's somewhat peaceful than the other parts. I wanted to pick her up from her home like one usually does, but Nebula said she'd meet me up there. From her expression, I could tell that she didn't want me to see her home or room.
"Well, I won't disturb you anymore. I'm sure you got work to do. So, meet you up at Brian's Diner at 7?" I asked her as I stood up from the chair.
"Hmmm! See you there," Nebula nodded her head.
As I was about to walk out, she called out to me once again, "Wait, Jack."
"Hmmm?" I turned around to look at her.
"A goodbye kiss? I saw Gamora do that before when she was, you know..." Nebula stood up as she tried to explain awkwardly.
I went back to her and planted a soft kiss on her lips. "See you later," I gave her a hug before walking out of the office. Ahhh... Nebula is so cute... I couldn't help but smile as I walked out of her office.
"Hey, human," As I was walking toward the parking lot, someone called me from behind. I turned around and there was no one around. Then my eyes fell on a dog! A golden retriever... No, labrador?! Goldador?!
"You can speak?!" I pointed at it shocked. "You are Cosmo?"
"Oh, you know me? Good! Saves me some introduction. I'm Cosmo, the space dog," Cosmo came closer and sat in front of me. Her tail wagging side to side as she spoke to me.
"You are the one who helped rebuild Knowhere, then you fought High Evolutionary's Hell Spawn, defended this place, and even stopped that giant exploding ship from colliding with Knowhere and saved so many... I mean, you are just awesome. I can't believe I'm talking to Cosmo. An intergalactic guardian and cosmic level telepathic Guardian," I praised Cosmo as I knelt and extended my hand toward her. "Can I shake your hand? I mean, paw?"
Cosmo's power level is unknown. And from what I know, she is strong as hell and a good dog. Oh! My weakness for dogs! Back on Earth, I had a dog named Bruno who died due to old age. I miss him so much...
Cosmo approached me and shook my hands with her paws. "Thanks for saving Knowhere. I'm Jack. Nice to meet you," I greeted Cosmo as I shook her hands.
"Oh, so much praise, hehehe. No one praised me like that ever," Cosmo's eyes twinkled as her tail wagged even more aggressively. I rubbed her neck and face. "What a good doggie!" She began to lick my face, her paws grabbing me by my shoulders. She tackled me and started licking my face again while I kept patting her back.
"Oh, no, Cosmo! That's too much. Too much licking, arrgg," My words seem to have flown in her ear.
She quickly controlled her, probably remembering the reason why she approached me, "Sorry, I got carried away. The others didn't praise me that much and you are just too kind." She sat on her butt, still maintaining eye contact. "Since we already met and greeted, would you mind having a quick chat with me? It will take only a couple of minutes." She questioned.
"Sure thing, ask away," I answered immediately.
"Mind explaining to me what you did to Nebula? She's acting all weird lately and today she's all bubbly and smiling nonstop. Although I'm glad that she's not in a bad mood like always, I'm kinda worried," Cosmo looked at me as she cocked her head and then licked her paws as she sat.
"That must be because we are seeing each other, you know, dating," I said, and as expected, her eyes sparkled. She jumped onto my leg and sniffed around me as if trying to find any clues or whatever. "I'm pretty sure you have read our mind by now."
"I don't do that anymore without permission or when I get worried. I may have read Nebula's thoughts, and she keeps repeating a small event over and over again in her head, but I can't read yours for some reason. That's why I was worried that someone might be trying to take advantage of her and do bad things to her or manipulate her for their own gains," she sat down in front of me and asked worriedly.
"You do know that Nebula is strong, right? And trust me, she could handle everything coming at her single-handedly and crush people into paste if she wants. Why would I take advantage of her?" I retorted back.
"You make a good point. I was just worried since Nebula wasn't acting herself these past few days, and I wanted to make sure she was not in any sort of trouble, okay," Cosmo stared at me blankly for a while but eventually looked down with her ears hanging.
"I guess no one ever saw her like that, huh? Well, isn't it good as long as she's happy and well? And it's also great that you care about her this much to take some time out of your busy day and speak with me," I stood up, brushed my knees, and then stroked her head. "Keep doing what you are doing. Sometimes people just want to see how people truly care. For someone who has been in the shadows most of her life, she is one lonely person, you know. But, I'm going to change that. You'll see her smile more and enjoy her new life here from now on. And less mad."
"Yes. That would be awesome, less mad Nebula, I like that. She even played with me yesterday... Like real fetch with a ball, I can't wait for her to toss another ball for me to catch," Cosmo jumped around, showing me how she caught the ball. Then she stopped, "Ok. I won't hold you back any longer. But if you make Nebula sad or hurt her, I'll bite you so hard you will cry!" Cosmo threatened.
"Don't worry. Nebula is very special to me and will never do that," I replied.
"Great! Okay, you can go now. I have a meeting to attend to. Bye-bye, Jack," Cosmo said her goodbye and ran inside the academy, wagging her tail as she ran away.
Well, there she goes. But thanks to her I got new information about myself. If someone of her level can't read my mind, then I wonder if I'm immune to telepathy, at least mind-related stuff. It must be because of the System. Make sense, because I'm pretty sure whoever made this System and reincarnated me in Knowhere must have taken steps to make sure that no one finds out about it.
I got in my car and drove off toward the market. Time to buy a good camera.

It wasn't that hard to find a good shop. As expected, they sell high-tech cameras here. Starting from vintage to the latest model and man, the price tags are as if someone asking me to give them one of my kidneys, it's ridiculous.
"Welkomm to Kortar. Vat cen ve do you, meester?" The store owner asked me as I browsed around his shop. He is a... Yellow bubble skin guy with long braided hair... Must be some species from here, looks kinda creepy, though. And once again, I'm not a racist or discriminating... Yes, I still can't get used to these weird aliens, but I'm sure in their eyes I would also look weird.
"I was looking to buy a camera. Like a good one," I answered.
He approached and offered a set, "Dis is oor lassest budggett modal. 10k creditttsss..."
"Nah! Show me that SL3 series. I heard they are flagship killer," I told the owner who walked to the corner and took something in his hands.
"Oh, dis iss arendo avsorrtve garl. Exilarr, little expensive. It has been our highest-selling camra in da lass vrothrr monthsssss..." He placed the camera box on the glass counter.
Although he's slurring, I can pretty much understand what he's saying, weird, huh?
After spending some time, checking for a good one, finally I bought one for 20k credits. It's freaking expensive, but it's an investment. I'm not an amateur in this field, so I'm pretty much knowledgeable when it comes to equipment and cameras.
And damn! This camera is a killer. Super advanced, lots of accessories and software, super advanced AI. God knows how many pixels this one has since there's no mention on the box, but the quality is a thousand times better than what those uber-expensive cameras from the earth.
After shopping, I got a call from Rosia, the woman from the bookshop. She wants me to meet up now since she got her hands on some exclusive weapon-related journals.
