Chapter 127 Flitwick and Dumbledore

After sending the letter to Professor Flitwick, Andy patiently stayed home and waited for the professor's reply.

Every day, he read a book, brewed a few potion vials, practised the Patronus Charm again, teased Isabel, and wrote a letter back to Hermione in his free time.

Three days passed by in a flash.

Pha Pha!

In the afternoon's leisure time, a greyish-brown owl flew in from outside the open window and circled around the living room before landing on the glass coffee table.

Andy was sitting paralysed on the couch, playing dead.

The owl glanced at Andy and lifted its foot, signalling Andy to hurry up and take the letter, the movement was quite weary.

"Good work!"

Andy braced himself and took the letter down first, then took some dried fruit and fed it to the owl. After eating and drinking, the owl flew out of the window with a satisfied look.

Andy swept a glance at the letter's signature.

Filius Flitwick!

YES!

Andy's eyes lit up, and he couldn't wait to open the envelope.

As a Hogwarts professor who had taught for decades, Flitwick's achievements in the magic spell field were by no means comparable to those of ordinary people. Even within the entire European magic world, Flitwick's achievements in the field of magic spells were definitely among the top ones.

In these three days, Andy finally tasted what was known as a day like a year.

Opening the envelope paper.

Andy carefully read every word on it, not daring to miss a single letter.

Professor Flitwick first affirmed Andy's spirit of exploration and gave a detailed answer to Andy's question.

When the Patronus Charm was invented, there were indeed no creatures like Dementors in the magic world.

Professor Flitwick mentioned in his letter that the Patronus Charm was a very ancient magic, and no one knew for what reason this magic was originally invented.

As for Andy's speculation - the Patronus Charm was invented by an ancient wizard based on Obscurus.

Professor Flitwick did not give a definite answer.

He encouraged Andy to continue his research.

According to Professor Flitwick, the Patronus Charm was too ancient, and it was difficult to learn. In the history of the magic world, there was a long period of time when no one learned this spell.

It wasn't until Dementors and Lethifolds appeared in the magic world that the Patronus Charm was widely used. Yet, even then, there weren't many wizards in the magic world who could wield the Patronus Charm.

"Professor Flitwick doesn't know it either?"

Andy had a bit of a headache.

Although Professor Flitwick had written a large number of words, the content was no different from 'nonsense' in Andy's opinion.

It was a waste of Andy's expectations for so many days.

What a waste of feelings!

"Hoo-"

Andy let out a deep breath and patiently continued reading.

Most of the content in the second half was Professor Flitwick's speculation.

Or rather, it was Professor Flitwick affirming Andy's guesses.

Professor Flitwick gave many examples and finally reached an answer that was similar to Andy's:

The Patronus Charm was most likely magic invented by an ancient wizard based on Obscurus.

Professor Flitwick said that he would continue to look into it.

As for Dumbledore's Phoenix Patronus ...

Professor Flitwick wrote at the end of the letter that he would go to Hogwarts to find Dumbledore to discuss it after he sent the letter.

Andy: "..."

"So Professor Flitwick is in the Headmaster's office right now?" Andy was somewhat confused.

If he had known this, he might as well have just written to Dumbledore.

Rubbing his temples, Andy re-read the contents of the letter. After making sure he hadn't missed anything, Andy took out his wand and used a Fire-Making Spell to turn the letter into ashes.

"Now I can only wait for the results as well."

Andy had some expectations in his heart.

Dumbledore was the number one person in today's magic world, he had studied about Obscurus when he was young, and his Patronus is still an extremely rare magical creature, the phoenix.

If there is a person in today's magic world who can answer Andy's questions, then that person is none other than Dumbledore.

Hogwarts Castle.

The fireplace in the Headmaster's room lit up with an ethereal flame.

Flitwick stepped out of the flames and looked up at Dumbledore, saying in a slightly apologetic tone, "I'm so sorry, Albus, to come over and bother you in the middle of a holiday."

"It's my pleasure, Filius."

Dumbledore pushed his sliding glasses up a bit and smiled, "Have a seat, anything you like to drink?"

"Butterbeer will be fine." Flitwick sat down in the chair across from the desk and twisted his body a little awkwardly.

After thinking about it, Flitwick suddenly pulled out his wand and heightened the chair so that he could be at eye level with Dumbledore.

Now this was much more comfortable!

Dumbledore flashed an awkward but polite smile and tapped his fingers on the tabletop as a mug of butterbeer appeared out of thin air in front of Flitwick.

"Thanks!" Flitwick said politely.

"Filius, do you have something important to say to me at this hour?" Dumbledore asked.

In all seriousness, many of the faculty and staff at Hogwarts were quite miserable. Apart from the school, they had no place to go outside anymore.

Dumbledore was also one of them.

"It's about the Patronus Charm."

Flitwick said with some embarrassment, "Three days ago, Andy Collins, a student of my house, wrote me a letter and asked some questions that had something to do with the Patronus Charm."

Dumbledore's expression was much more serious.

Flitwick organized his words and said, "He believes that the Patronus Charm is a magic that the ancient wizards have developed based on the research done on Obscurus."

"After reading the letter he wrote, I looked up quite a bit of information and did find a lot of similarities between the two."

"Albus, your patronus, is the only magical creature in the magical world of today ... What do you think about this?"

Dumbledore's gaze was somewhat vacant.

Every time he heard the word 'Obscurus', Dumbledore couldn't help but think back to the mistakes he had made in his youth.

His own sister, and that son of his brother.

"I did do some research on the Patronus Charm ... and the Obscurus."

Dumbledore spoke slowly, "But you should know that only young wizards under the age of ten will... become Obscurus."

"As for the Patronus Charm...a great change in the mind can alter the Patronus's form. My original patronus wasn't a phoenix either, and the current one...doesn't have any special abilities."

Flitwick nodded.

Dumbledore hadn't said much, but he had understood what Dumbledore meant.

Regardless of whether the Patronus Charm had anything to do with Obscurus, they could no longer study it now.

Because their magic power had already been stabilized.

As for Dumbledore's Phoenix Patronus ...

It was only after Dumbledore went through a big emotional change that his initial patronus form was changed.

"Albus, do you know the original effect of the Patronus Charm?" Flitwick asked, somewhat resignedly.
