Chapter 123: Guiding fors to Become a Follower of the Stars

At the Grelint household.

Hastur, Audrey, and Hugh gathered once again.

This time, it was Hugh who insisted on the meeting, claiming there was an urgent matter that needed assistance.

After discussing with Grelint, it was decided that Grelint would contact Hastur and Audrey.

Upon arrival, Hastur immediately noticed Hugh's anxious demeanor and knew something must have happened to fors.

The cause might have been the night when the Overstar Sovereign caused trouble, and the crimson moon shone brightly, affecting fors.

Once everyone arrived and was seated, Hugh took a deep breath to calm down and shared the recent events.

That night, under the starry sky anomaly, fors was affected far beyond the previous full moon's whispers. Although she ultimately overcame the challenge through sheer willpower, both her body and mind were severely damaged, with no short-term recovery in sight.

With less than three days left until the next full moon, fors, in her current state, would definitely not withstand the influence of the full moon's whispers.

Hugh had attended many extraordinary gatherings but had not found a suitable solution, ultimately placing her hopes on Hastur.

Among those she knew, Hastur's extraordinary knowledge was vast and mysterious, perhaps holding the key to saving fors.

After hearing the situation, Grelint first thought of his own concocted medicines, but they could only assist in regulating fors's body and not resolve the full moon's whispers, which was a mental influence; his medicines were temporarily ineffective.

Audrey felt deeply for fors's plight. Just listening to Hugh's narration made her worry for fors, fearing she couldn't hold on.

Relieved that fors had endured, Audrey also felt a sense of fear for what could have been. Fortunately, as an extraordinary person herself, she did not suffer from severe aftereffects like fors.

The full moon's whispers sounded ominous just by description.

Would Mr. Fool have a way to solve fors's problem?

Audrey thought about the people she knew, and aside from Mr. Hastur, perhaps Mr. Fool might know a solution.

Later, if Hastur had no solution, she would seek Mr. Fool's help at Monday's Tarot Club meeting.

Perhaps, they could even add a new member to the Tarot Club.

Faced with the hopeful gazes of Hugh and Audrey, Hastur pondered for a long time before saying, "There indeed is a way to resolve the full moon's whispers, but the conditions are quite stringent."

Hearing there was a way, Hugh almost stood up in excitement, her eyes beginning to redden as she tried to calm herself.

"What is the method?"

"From your description, I surmise that this so-called full moon's whispers might be an influence exerted by a higher sequence on a lower sequence extraordinary person."

Hastur did not mention Mr. Door's existence or the curse of the Abraham family, instead opting for a different explanation.

"To eliminate this influence, I see two feasible methods. The first is to find an extraordinary item that can isolate external influences, and its sequence must not be too low, with minimal side effects."

"The second method is to seek the aid of a powerful being, such as one of the seven deities or an ancient awakener."

Hugh listened with hope, which then turned to dejection, feeling both methods were too difficult.

In the short term, she could not find an extraordinary item that could isolate external influences, which was akin to a second life for an extraordinary person.

Such items were rarely sold, and the sequence required could not be too low. Given the influence fors had suffered, the extraordinary item would need to be at least equivalent to sequence 6 or above?

The second method had already been attempted by her and fors.

To withstand the full moon's whispers, they had prayed devoutly to each of the seven deities, but in the end, none responded to their pleas.

"I can't do it; it's too difficult."

Hugh shared her recent attempts and the scarcity of extraordinary items.

"Would you like to try my medicine?" Grelint whispered.

Hugh shook her head, "Those medicines can only regulate the body; they cannot resolve the issue of the full moon's whispers."

Audrey thought for a moment, then looked at Hastur with conviction, "I believe that if Mr. Hastur suggests such a method, he must have a way to help."

Hope reignited in Hugh's eyes.

Hastur sighed lightly, "I do not know of any ancient beings, but I have a friend who does. If fors ultimately decides, I will inquire on her behalf."

"In the face of life, all rules and constraints become less important." Hugh bit her lower lip, her determined gaze making the decision for fors.

Even if it meant believing in a malevolent god, as long as it could save fors, it was worth it. The Aurora Society and the Witch Sect were still very active, weren't they?

"This decision can only be made by fors herself."

Hastur looked meaningfully at Hugh; he had offered a choice, and if fors agreed, he would guide her to become a follower of the stars.

As for whether fors would join the Tarot Club in the future, he would not interfere.

After all, the Tarot Club was full of double agents, even Miss Justice had learned to be an undercover agent at the Psychological Alchemy Association.

Hugh confidently said, "I believe fors will make the wisest choice."

After resolving the issue, Hastur shared some simple extraordinary knowledge. As for the starry sky anomaly that night, he did not discuss it.

After the gathering, Hastur accompanied Hugh to her and fors's residence.

Before boarding the carriage, Hastur specifically cautioned not to stop for anyone, as he did not want to see Chief Inspector Reed appear before him with his child.

Hugh found it somewhat baffling but said nothing.

The carriage journey was unobstructed, taking just over twenty minutes to reach Hugh and fors's home.

Their residence had a decent-sized hall, a washroom, two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a small balcony for drying clothes.

The environment was average, and it was somewhat noisy when the windows and doors were open.

The only convenience was its proximity to the market.

For Hugh and fors, who cooked their own meals, this was the greatest convenience.

Hugh knocked on the door first, alerting fors, who was resting inside, that a guest had arrived, asking her to tidy up a bit. After receiving fors's consent, Hugh opened the door.

Hastur followed Hugh inside, naturally glancing at fors's bedroom.

The room was not large, about half the size of his own study. After fitting a bed and a wardrobe, there wasn't much space left.

The room's decor was simple, with a square bed, a blanket, two pillows, and several dozen books on the bedside table.

This suited fors's personality and profession.

At that moment, fors lay quietly on the bed, with two pillows propped up to slightly support her upper body.

Her complexion was pale, and although she had tidied up a bit, her hair was still somewhat disheveled. Her eyes were slightly swollen, empty, lacking color, as if devoid of spirit.

Hugh sat directly on the edge of the bed, glanced at Hastur, who had nowhere to sit, and said apologetically, "Mr. Hastur, I'm afraid you'll have to make do."

Hastur indicated he didn't mind such trivial matters and first inquired about fors's current condition.

Fortunately, although fors was physically and mentally exhausted, she was not yet hollow or demented. She had suffered a great spiritual trauma and needed time to recover.

With her current state, she definitely could not endure the next full moon's whispers.

"Hugh has explained the situation to you, and now you need to make your own decision. Once you choose, you may no longer be associated with the current Church of the Seven Deities."

Hastur felt it was better to clarify, to prevent fors from regretting her decision in the future.

fors gave a wry smile, weakly saying, "I'm not afraid of any worse outcomes."

"Alright, I will write down a prescription for you."

Hastur asked Hugh to bring paper and a pen, then wrote down several phrases on the small table fors often used for writing.

After writing, Hastur instructed, "The incantation needs to be recited in ancient Hermes language to be effective, preferably around eleven o'clock at night for the best effect."

"Remember to burn the paper after reading; it's best not to let this matter spread, or it could cause trouble for my friend."

"Lastly, I offer my blessings, may Miss fors be free from suffering."

Having done what he came for, Hastur did not linger and left with Hugh to the carriage.

Inside the room, fors looked at the content written on the paper.

"Lord of Chaos and Order."

"Origin of all rules in the starry sky."

"Aligner of the Stars!"
