Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Sequence 8 Barbarian

Chapter 40: Sequence 8 Barbarian

The next day, after breakfast, Hastur headed to the Queens district to find Gray and asked to stay with him for a couple of nights.

Gray, amused by such a trivial request, readily agreed and even suggested that Hastur should stay there permanently.

Having settled this matter, Hastur then went to Beckland University for his classes and in the afternoon, followed Instructor Folan to the Chorwood district to serve as a legal aide.

After a busy day, leaving Chorwood, Hastur had the carriage detour past the courthouse, drawing back the curtains to take a brief look at the courthouse doors.

That afternoon, he heard from a member of the Justice Research Association that the previous day, just before the courthouse closed, an old man had suddenly come forward, wanting to confess his past wrongdoings.

The old man told a story to the judge and jury that was both touching and terrifying, prompting the courthouse to close its doors early.

As for how the matter was resolved, the member was not sure, guessing that the old man wouldn't live much longer and might not have survived the night.

Despite anticipating such news, Hastur couldn't help but sigh.

If there was a chance in the next few days, he would go to the small village on the outskirts where the old man lived and erect a monument for him.

He too had once been a warrior defending the Rune Kingdom, and no soldier who selflessly fought for their country should be forgotten like this.

April 6th, Thursday.

After finishing half a day of legal aid in the afternoon, Hastur could clearly feel that the lawyer's potion within him had been fully digested, and with the barbarian potion prepared, he could ascend to Sequence 8 Barbarian.

Leaving Chorwood, Hastur didn't return to Greleck's place in Queens but went back to his own house, which he hadn't seen for three days.

He moved all the ingredients needed for the barbarian potion to an empty room on the second floor, ensuring no one could approach.

Extraordinary Ingredients: A stalk of Berserk Grass, a solid horn crystal from an Earth Rhino.

Auxiliary Ingredients: One Deep-Patterned Walnut, a stalk of Fragrant Bee Herb, 10 milliliters of pure dew soaked from poplar bark, 100 milliliters of strong liquor.

Looking at all the gathered ingredients, Hastur felt a deep sense of satisfaction and excitement.

Once he consumed the potion, he would be a Sequence 8 Barbarian, with his combat power greatly enhanced, far surpassing that of a mere civil servant like a lawyer!

After the excitement, Hastur hesitated with the Deep-Patterned Walnut in his palm, wondering if he should remove the core.

Or should he crush it whole, including the core? Glancing at the recipe again, it clearly stated one Deep-Patterned Walnut, which meant the core should be consumed as well.

Otherwise, it would have specified a certain weight of walnut flesh.

Clear on this point, Hastur began to grind and crush the various ingredients with the tools he had prepared in advance, finally adding 100 milliliters of strong liquor.

The final product was a small bowl of paste-like, sticky liquid.

Hastur took a deep breath and, despite the discomfort, drank the sticky liquid in one gulp.

It burned on the way down, like swallowing a lump of hot coal, causing pain as if he was being scorched by fierce flames from his mouth to his throat and all the way to his internal organs.

His head throbbed with intense pain, as if someone was pounding it with a pestle.

Roars echoed in his ears, each sound tearing at his nerves, reverberating through his eardrums.

Visions flashed before his eyes, as if the entire order of the world was crumbling, decaying, and falling into an endless abyss.

Following his previous experience, Hastur tried to visualize the Hall of Stars to suppress all the violent murmurs from the barbarian potion.

It took ten or twenty minutes for Hastur to gradually regain his usual clarity of mind, feeling reborn, with a warm current flowing through his body and fists capable of smashing doors with a single punch!

However, he was still mentally drained and felt somewhat uncomfortable, which left his complexion slightly pale.

He didn't immediately take a bath but sat on the bed with his eyes closed for a long time, then got up to move his limbs, silently feeling the new abilities brought by his ascension to barbarian.

The barbarian represents terrifying strength, a robust physique, and exceptional resistance to negative effects. When the law is insufficient to deal with enemies, using force is a very reasonable method of persuasion.

This was somewhat similar to Hugh's approach, who also excelled in resolving disputes through physical means.

The abilities brought by the barbarian mainly include four aspects: Terrifying Strength: Your fists alone can easily defeat those who do not heed your words. When order and rules are threatened, strength is the key to defending and reversing everything.

Robust Physique: You possess a physique far stronger than that of an ordinary person. As a barbarian, your powerful body is your greatest reliance in charging through and overcoming enemies.

Resistance and Weakening: Your strong physique grants you extraordinary resistance. Any force attempting to harm you will be effectively blocked by your robust body. You have a natural immunity to negative effects such as poisoning, curses, and illness…

Blood Roar: When threatened, your blood begins to boil, your fighting spirit coalesces, and you can temporarily amplify your strength several times over, while also emitting a terrifying roar to intimidate your enemies!

The first three abilities are easy to understand; they can all be attributed to strong physical qualities, with strength and resistance being passive abilities resulting from a powerful body.

The fourth ability, Blood Roar, is an active skill, similar to berserking, which significantly enhances one's own abilities and can also produce a roar-like psychic shock, causing significant disadvantage to enemies at critical moments.

Barbarian, like the Barbarian King's ultimate move?

It doesn't seem that overpowered; it's more like Zhang Fei's "Descent of the Heavenly God" in the game Dynasty Warriors, enlarging the body size and greatly increasing speed and strength, while also being immune to control.

It's just unclear whether using this skill will deplete one's sanity.

After some thought, Hastur believes it won't, as the skill is named Blood Roar, not Barbaric Frenzy.

He estimates that after using this skill, he will be in a very weakened state.

Three seconds of true manhood? Hmm, it does have that flavor.

Hastur carefully felt every inch of change in his body within the room until he adapted, then he left the room to take a bath.

After the bath, it was already past seven in the evening. He enjoyed the late dinner, and due to the energy expended, his appetite seemed quite large.

The sight made Neil, the butler standing by, somewhat anxious, fearing Hastur might burst his stomach.

Seeing Hastur consume two more servings of pan-seared beef ribeye, Neil gently reminded him, "Such binge eating can be hard on the body and affect your health."

"Hmm… I had quite a workout this afternoon, so I'm a bit hungrier than usual."

Hastur explained, then finished the last sip of his exotic drink from the Dixie Bay, concluding his dinner for the day.

"Around ten o'clock, remember to bring me a late-night snack, preferably a dessert."

With that instruction, Hastur rose from his seat and went upstairs.

Neil watched his back, then glanced at the cleared dining table, his expression complex, finally concluding: Perhaps the baron is growing his body lately.

Upstairs, in the bedroom, Hastur set the alarm clock, then lay down on the warm bed and fell asleep.

He learned from the last lesson, not immediately entering the Hall of Stars, but first recovering his spirit, then entering the Hall of Stars.

He slept until ten o'clock, by which time a maid had delivered the night snack, two desserts, caramel pudding and strawberry cake, accompanied by a cup of hot milk.

Hastur slowly savored them, pondering how to deal with the genie later.

Around ten-thirty, Hastur closed and locked the doors and windows, then entered the Hall of Stars.

The starlight tonight was particularly brilliant, as if celebrating his successful ascension to Sequence 8.

Hastur sat down in his own high chair in the Hall of Stars, stretched out his hand, and two chains of order hung before him.

Indeed, after his ascension to Sequence 8, another chain of order appeared in the Hall of Stars, and he could write a rule that benefited him on this new chain.

Last time, he had set a long-term protective rule for himself. Now, he needed a rule that could complement his own abilities and exert powerful combat strength.

For example, enhancing the effect of Blood Roar by several or ten times.

However, such a rough and simple rule is easily exploited, and even if it could be enhanced by so many times, his body certainly couldn't withstand it and would be burst by the force far exceeding his physical load.

For this, he hasn't yet decided on what kind of rule to set.

Besides enhancing his own strength, he had another idea.

To set a rule specifically for the Hall of Stars.

The Hall of Stars could summon the gatherings of the old days and the outer gods, which he had always been eager and wary of.

So, when he became a Sequence 9 Lawyer, he didn't immediately bring the genie trapped in the wishing lamp and the fallen mother goddess to the Hall of Stars.

He feared they would turn the tables, even though the rules of the Hall of

0000000000000

Stars are based on him, but he still had concerns.

But he couldn't wait until he became a god to summon them to the Hall of Stars for a gathering, as it would no longer have any meaning or help by then.

His original plan was to wait until he ascended to Sequence 7 Briber before attempting to summon others.

However, after more than a month of whipping trials, he found that the genie had no ability to counter the Hall of Stars and could only rage impotently every night.

A once-brilliant outer god could not face such humiliation without taking action.

It's not that the genie didn't want to, but that it couldn't. It had no means or power to threaten the Hall of Stars.

This gave Hastur the idea to summon the genie to the Hall of Stars for a meeting first, which would also allow him to understand the capabilities of the Hall of Stars in advance.

As for the fallen mother goddess, he didn't want to provoke her for the time being.

After all, the fallen mother goddess was not sealed and was still one of the three pillars, with strength incomparable to that of the genie, and she was also the old deity with the deepest influence and interference in the current world.

Hastur was most cautious and defensive against her.

To summon her for a meeting, he would at least wait until he ascended to Sequence 4 Demigod.

While pondering, Hastur's gaze returned to the vast starry sky above, where each star shone brightly.

Among them, one star reflected a light as dazzling as that of the genie and the fallen mother goddess.

Which outer god or old deity could this be?

With a thought, the vast starry sky drew closer, and the shining star enlarged before Hastur's eyes.
