Chapter 125: Black And Vermilion

Rain gently trickled down a small pipe, dripping into an almost full bucket as Melissa flipped over a page in a book. To her right, a small candle lay, lighting up the narrow brown table she found herself seated at. 

She stopped, listening for the sound of the final droplet before standing, retrieving the bucket and emptying it into a large iron basin. She tossed the bucket out of an open window, it echoed as it bounced down a narrow brick shoot, shattering as it hit the bottom. 

She pulled out the grey armchair and sat, turning her attention back to the book at hand. There was no information on the spine regarding what book it was, only a few mysterious words had been printed on each page.
